    as a teacher who works a "regular" job, i'm not sure it's fair to assume that everyone who works regular hours in a non-freelance career is able to just turn it off at the end of the day. i constantly work outside of my work hours and am always thinking about and reflecting on my students, myself as a teacher and things like that. there's always something i want to work on, plan, or prep and i really push myself to allow myself leisure time. and i know many others in my field who are similar. just my two cents. :)

      That is true! I didn't even think of that, and I should've been more mindful of this because one of my really good friends is a preschool teacher. There's a lot of jobs out there that don't allow time to 'turn off' and I commend that! It's not easy. We've definitely pigeon-holed this conversation into the creative field. xx

      @@thatschicblog Even in or particularly in the creative fields, working for a large corporation can mean that you take the problems home with you, nights and weekends because you just know that in two days you have to have that brochure written or that video shot, but you don't even have the headline for it yet, par example. Thanks for the fun video..

    One of the best things of working in corporate world is that you have someone to share your pain and joy of the work. I admire the freedom of freelancers but I'm happy about having my team all the time :)

      I totally agree! I learn a lot not only from my team but also from clients and more people who are so passionate in what they are doing. This somehow inspires me to keep going and to do better everyday!

    Loved the car pool chat! You’re completely right, working in the “corporate” world has such a negative stigma....I’m a designer and working for a company has allowed to me to have amazing experiences and meet so many insanely-talented, creative people! I’ve also been able to travel the world through my job, and wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. Now I have the experience and business know how for when the time comes to branch out on my own 👍✨ this path isn’t for everyone but wouldn’t have done it any other way

    • @thatschicblog
      @thatschicblog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yes! I agree it's not for everyone, and I also think it's unfair for corporate to have that stigma. it forced me to be a better team player and communicator, and I also met my core group of friends through the corporate world (jane, val, debbie, david) we all left around the same time and do our own things now career-wise, but still talk to each other every single day xx

    loved your bit on freelancing, it's soo true!! I have been freelancing for the last 5 years, but during that time I have also worked in a corporate environment. Working in a corporate setting has definitely helped me with my own business. You learn so much, especially out of college

    I said the SAME thing in my video. I went from working 10 hour days in the demanding fashion world of NYC to doing youtube fulltime and like I said, in many ways "it's harder". The same things you miss are what I miss. Being able to chat with people regularly.
