18:20 As a Celtics fan I remember Aaron Baynes always being the first out after halftime and shooting 3s despite that not being part of his game. But he got good enough at the straight ahead stand still 3 that the coaching staff gave him the go ahead and defenses learned to respect him from that spot, then he worked on the corner. Even if Isaiah Jackson is only making the easiest, most open looks from a single spot, what matters is teams couldn't just leave him alone.
My concern with Ben is that he'll eventually get frustrated with coming off the bench. I hope whatever role he's given that he embraces it. I hope we get to see his full upside.
They're completely ignorant if they don't play him as a starter. Ease him back into the starter spot if they want.. But to me it doesn't make any sense.
@warlockmagic3416 The only reason that isn't true is because Nembhard is so good. He can see the floor far better than Mathurin, so having options like Siakam, and Turner to get the ball to, having what I would consider a two point guard lineup. It throws off defenses when you don't have as many assigned roles which is why the terms point forward and point center have become popular.
I like Mathurin. I have always felt since day 1 that his shot was somewhat flat. I would like to see Mathurin develop a back down game like Michael Jordan. That is pass it to him in the block, a couple back downs, then fade away jumper.
Thee best expose on the deficiencies with James Wiseman was on a TH-cam done by Ben Pfeifer--very informative. This was a video documentation of his deficiencies.
Mathurin's goal is to be the best two-way player in the league. If his defense is close to that level, he will be a starter. What will the Pacers do if Benn Drew AA Pascal Myles is one of the best defensive lineups in the league?
There isn't much to change. Rick doesn't play anyone big minutes. Tyrese/Siakam are 32-33 minutes per game already, and that puts them around 50th in the NBA. I know that bc people complain about Mathurin minutes, when he's been around 28 MPG. Not sure how many minutes ppl want him to get when the star is only 4-5 minutes ahead of him.
@xBulletproof1 I think ideally Benn, AA and Drew are getting starter minutes even they don't start. I would like to find out how well Drew and Pascal pair without Ty.

Tony R East bringing the goods for the 'Cers!
Pacers are relentless offensively in a league that duriong the reg season doesn't play alot of D! #2 seed is possible...definitely a top 4 seed!
They were before the Pascal trade. Haven't been the same sense.

Agree 💯 but it sounds like he’s got his fate in his own hands - if he outplays Nembhard he can snag that spot

The podcast gets interesting at 11:47.

FYI--you misspelled the word approach (aproach)

My disappoint with Shepherd last year is given what he was supposed to be he didn't shoot the ball that well from 3.
4 MINUTES IN, NOTHING SAID.
Haliburton's lack of defense, I think, will continue to be a problem, especially when you get into the playoffs.
Hope we cutback Tyrese minutes! Need him fresh and ready to roll when playoffs ROLL around!
