I know that the association of Walther with James Bond is something of a sacrosanct pairing- but to date-my favorite hand gun that Bond has repeatedly used is the Sig Sauer P226. The P226 is arguably just as iconic on it’s own right as Bond’s PPK and the P226 is functionally superior in every category with exception to ease of concealment. With that said-the PPK is a novelty gun on my to-own list! For carry options from Walther used by Bond-Bond’s Walther P99 is arguably the better choice over the PPK. Ps. Bond as general rule would likely follow a “gray-man” style of approach to carrying a gun. The swag items are certainly neat and functional-but you generally won't find many people in the CCW community using them because they fit a stereotype profile of someone who likely carries a firearm.
@BATTLEZONEwzw I agree-the PPS would certainly have been one of the logical choices. Given the .380 chambering of the PPK-and the modern loads available-it still remains a relevant piece-but only in fairly limited circumstances. I couldn't imagine being in the middle of a full on shootout armed with only a PPK and a couple of 7-shot magazines. It's fine for movies… 🤷♂️ One significant drawback for many shooters is the grip size and slide bite problems depending on your grip and hand size. It makes it a more difficult gun to draw quickly and accurately at speed as you attempt to establish your master grip just before drawing. Of course-for a number of people this shortcoming can be worked around-but overall-it’s a gun of it’s time that has all but ran it's course in terms of modern relevance. As I said previously-the PPK is on my list for a mostly useable novelty gun/deep concealment firearm-but it would certainly never be an only carry EDC choice.
"...and a radio." But your haul looks a lot like Christmas to me. The stainless PPK is a magnificent sidearm. You continue to deliver a true Bond Experience.
If I had the opportunity to speak with someone at Walther I would want to ask why do they keep the sharp edges on the beaver tail when dulling the edges? After several magazines your webbing on your hand is pretty marked up.
I have a fired P99 bullet casing from the set of the Venice shoot out in Casino Royale and interestingly Walther had to make special blanks for the production to enable them to work with the silencer. Instead of a crimped cap they have a green rubber cap.
Fantastic,I'm in the UK so I will have to make do with my umarex co2 BB ppk , but I believe that it's actually built in the Walther factory in Germany, great video gentlemen.
The modern ones are drop safe I believe. I've carried a S&W model for many years with one in the pipe and the hammer down. DA first shot; safety off. It's an extremely easy weapon to carry and it's very fun to shoot. I can't take it to a public range without people coming up to me to talk about it
You are totally right. They obviously changed Bomds watch … time to update him to a small sig or Glock . I have a few PPKs and I carried them, but more just to be the “bbq gun” (as we said in Texas) where you wear it as a fashion statement.
@@HotelActual03 Sorry, I'm a bit slow. Not quite sure I understand your response. Are you saying Sig's are "lego" guns? I don't know what that means. For the record, I usually carry a P225 ...but do have the 320 and some 365's. These are all great firearms. As for reading the books, feel free to watch my video series where I document all the firearms described by Ian Fleming in his novels.
Keep sending them down range David. Fret not, there is no such thing as a gun expert. In the words of Paul Markel, you’re a beginner once, and a student for life.
unfortunately, Walther is only a shadow of what it use to be. They ruined the design of the PPK with that large beaver tail ,and the others lack the innovation of guns such as the P5, Walther 2000, TPX etc. The new guns are very large/bulky and no style....sooo sad :(
Bought mine last year! Every Bond fan that also use firearms should own one!
It was my honor and privilege to shoot with you here my friend!! Loved watching you get more comfortable, one draw at a time!!
thanks for the in-depth visit to Walther. Congrats on your new acquisitions!
Very cool video -I hope to be purchasing a Walther in the near future and this was very informative!

More of this! Great job. Loved seeing how quickly you improved over the video.
What’s fantastic experience! Great video. I need another PPK! And that PDP is 👌 nice

Awesome! 💯💯💯
p99 for the win excellent pistol and still in use (PDP)
Great video. I’d love a PDP but I need that paddle mag release in my life.
Hi David, if you haven’t already bought Bond’s rifle (Armalite AR-7) used in From Russia with Love, Henry Arms still makes it! It’s really cool!
Cool to see you were in Fort Smith. I am from there. I have even been to that gun range many of times.

I was so excited to see Walther bring the PPK back in .32, which obviously is the same as was introduced in Dr. No (cinematically speaking)
Anorak moment: In the movies, the first Walthers were.... PP models. LOL. I guess back then they wouldn't know.
I bought a black PPK because of James Bond, but I bought a stainless one because stainless is just sexier.
easier to clean!
now you need a one liner when the other man in front of your gun hit the ground.

This seems to be of a different caliber than your usual videos!
I live in the UK and love guns and even worked in gun smiths.
Die Another Day was the first Bond movie I ever saw, and I bought a Walther P99 shortly thereafter. So I think product placement works, lol.
The P99 is my personal favorite. I saw one in a shop once, knew it from the films, and after handling it, I wanted to get one for myself.
The trigger was very innovative.
Hey David great video! I recently fired the Walther pdp great piece pf kit

The PDP with silencer would make sense in the next Bond film, let’s see if they use it.
Thanks. I love Roger Moore. Who's this?
In my most humble opinion, they peaked with the original P99... They make fine guns now, but they just aren't as unique and well designed as the P99.

Lame. Lego guns are boring. Read the books more

Magazine, not clip.
