On the face of it, it sounds as though she has strong cases for False Imprisonment, and also Defamation. Let's hope she can bring the Claims to Court, using the 'full force of the Law' of course.
That won't get her anywhere-look at TR getting pepper sprayed and falsely arrested, as it turned out.
More like a section 25 abuse of power, the police knew and was warned by the cps they had no grounds to charge her with anything but still went ahead and did it anyway.
Police can detain you for up to 96 hours without charge (24 hours default, but they can claim they need up to 96 hours to collect evidence, etc).
So in this case she will not be entitled to any compensation, etc. As long as the police can show they had reasonable grounds to detain her & as she was never charged with an offence, she will have little or no recourse to
any civil remedies e.g. defamation of character.
Personally I find this deplorable & the only reason they did it is to set an example to discourage others from expressing their opinion in public, thus suppressing free speech.
The related cases of people who went out and protested also showed how much this government is trying to clamp down & put people in fear of protesting by giving them extraordinary severe sentences.
This government is trying to widen the definition of "terrorism", because they can detain you for up to 14 days without charge if you are suspected of it.
A good example is recently mysogymy, which this government is trying to catagorise as an extreme act, thus qualifying as terrorism.
