Also L on your Kohane 1st and 2nd commissions take, Flyer is such a good song (but you’re right that Hitsuji ga Ippiki is amazing). But yes, Mr. Showtime as #1 and DonKetsu in top 5!!! My babies I love them so much. My own ranking is definitely quite a bit different since I don’t take MVs into account but I can see where you’re coming from for all of them.

Ok, Machi is my favourite song and imma explain why (there's a tl;Dr at the bottom) So, for a start, Rin is tuned well. It's the cornerstone of a good sekai song and why I don't like Watashi Wa, Watashitashi ga as much. Also, the lyrics are meaningful. The 'city' referred to throughout the song is likely vivid street and if so, the song has a lot more imapct than listening to it without knowing that. Also, everyone sounds really happy throughout the song, especially An. The line starting 'konno Machi' in the chorus is the best example of this, and also Toya's line in the first verse. I also really like the 2DMV. The callback to bout for beside you was a nice touch and generally the orange tones are nice. Finally, the line distribution is good. You can tell it's an An focus song without her being the only voice in the song. TL DR: Rins tuning, the motifs and the MV No hate though, I get why people don't like it as much

I absolutely agree with your opinion on Machi. Its a good song, but if compared by other coms/covers from vbs, its very meh overall. We have lots of banger coms for vbs like Hitsuji ga ipiki, Gekkou, RAD DOGS, and Awake now just to name a few. (FYI: These are my opinions) so Machi doesn't really do it for me. The Kashika placement on the other hand, broke me 💀

Couple things from a vbs stan: Machi - too late I am already en route to your location/j I think when I'm writing this machi has a much bigger impact because 1. the full version is mmm diddly scrumptious and 2. the light up the fire event (an's fourth focus no spoilers but if you know, you know) Kashika - I personally haven't fallen head-over-heels for kashika myself either, I like it, but I guess I haven't listened to it enough to understand how so many people have it as like top 3 pjsekai comms (although there's no way it is beating CR詠ZY) Utsuro wo Aogu - interesting placement, I usually see people place it much lower as a "like, but there are better" but I agree it deserves its kudos (especially with how each member's partner's name is woven into the lyrics at the one part, so good!) Hitsuji ga Ippiki - I agree that it is the best of kohane's comms so far (I aint really listened to realize that much yet) HOWEVER COMMA, I will stand by Beat Eater and Flyer til the day I die. I understand the criticisms towards Flyer, is it repetitive, a little but I like when jp songs have a lil English word I can sing-along every once in a while and the joy of going "Flyer~ Flyer~" will not be taken away from me. Does it sound like an anime op? Yeah, and that's not a bad thing; it's fun, happy and vbs are just hanging out in some fresh kicks having fun. Beat Eater I don't even know what criticisms to counter because I've never seen someone dislike it. While she isn't my #1 VBS member, and none of her comms are my #1, I am willing to say that kohane has the most consistently banger comms out of vbs (an's close but forward drags her down; same with moonlight and mirai good songs just not my favs) AZUSAWA WORLD! I absolutely agree with your opinion on Machi.
Its a good song, but if compared by other coms/covers from vbs, its very meh overall.
We have lots of banger coms for vbs like Hitsuji ga ipiki, Gekkou, RAD DOGS, and Awake now just to name a few. (FYI: These are my opinions) so Machi doesn't really do it for me.
The Kashika placement on the other hand, broke me 💀

Couple things from a vbs stan:
Machi - too late I am already en route to your location/j I think when I'm writing this machi has a much bigger impact because 1. the full version is mmm diddly scrumptious and 2. the light up the fire event (an's fourth focus no spoilers but if you know, you know)
Kashika - I personally haven't fallen head-over-heels for kashika myself either, I like it, but I guess I haven't listened to it enough to understand how so many people have it as like top 3 pjsekai comms (although there's no way it is beating CR詠ZY)
Utsuro wo Aogu - interesting placement, I usually see people place it much lower as a "like, but there are better" but I agree it deserves its kudos (especially with how each member's partner's name is woven into the lyrics at the one part, so good!)
Hitsuji ga Ippiki - I agree that it is the best of kohane's comms so far (I aint really listened to realize that much yet) HOWEVER COMMA, I will stand by Beat Eater and Flyer til the day I die. I understand the criticisms towards Flyer, is it repetitive, a little but I like when jp songs have a lil English word I can sing-along every once in a while and the joy of going "Flyer~ Flyer~" will not be taken away from me. Does it sound like an anime op? Yeah, and that's not a bad thing; it's fun, happy and vbs are just hanging out in some fresh kicks having fun. Beat Eater I don't even know what criticisms to counter because I've never seen someone dislike it. While she isn't my #1 VBS member, and none of her comms are my #1, I am willing to say that kohane has the most consistently banger comms out of vbs (an's close but forward drags her down; same with moonlight and mirai good songs just not my favs) AZUSAWA WORLD!
On a real note tho your opinions are yours to have and are valid. I do admit I need to give L/N more of a chance but I will agree that Voices is pretty good. Also I want Bug injected directly into my veins and parasol cider makes me parched everytime

my rankings are based on complexively everything related to the song, including the mv. starry sky melody is pretty fucking boring to me, the costumes simply worsened my opinion of it. i would’ve still ranked it between 20th and 19th place
