These Classic BMW E30 Wheels Were A DISASTER! Satisfying Auto Detailing!

  • Another satisfying auto detailing video for your eyes and ears! These classic BMW Bottlecap wheels came off our E30 and we know these barrels have never been properly cleaned since the 1980's. So we took care of business, from the mildest process to the most aggressive.
    We started with our classic wheel detailing process which is an Iron Remover followed by a foamed wheel cleaner, in this instance, P&S BrakeBuster. This made a dent, but we were no where close to a clean wheel. The next step was to Clay Bar the entire surface using Optimum No Rinse as a lubricant. With each step we saw progress, but it took 3K Wet Sanding paper to remove all of the remaining baked on dirt from the wheel barrels.
    After all of these steps we gave the wheels a polish using Griots Garage Fast Correcting Cream on a Lake Country Microfibre Cutting Pad. After all these steps it was finally time for a little protection and throw them back on the car!
    We hope you all enjoy this little ASMR detailing experience! Thank you all for watching!

    I see in another comment you tried multiple products and mediums but curious if you tried steel wool? Some flitz might be do well paired with steel wool and/or your 2000-3000 sandpaper. Do you have any Meguiar’s wheel brightener...might have helped as well on the backside during initial cleaning.
    Another option is micro-mesh of the same grits described above. Not sure but I can see where you just throw the kitchen sink at it with ideas and I have too many to list here.
    Just found your channel and I’m a fan already. I’m putting you up there with Apex, PAN, Wilson, Jimbo, & Forensic as my favorite channels.
    Your cinematography is excellent. Something tells me that was maybe a path you were interested in taking professionally at one time?

    • @ChromaticGarage
      @ChromaticGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      L J steel wool would have been a great idea! I try to stay away from wheel brightener but you’re right, it would have absolutely helped!
      I actually just started getting into camera stuff to document stuff for the business, really took a liking to it so I have been trying my best to gain some knowledge. Going to upgrade gear in coming months and see where we can take it!
      Thank you for the kind words!

    Unless we are talking vintage wheels, I'd honestly just get a new set of wheel rather than paying for cleaning them or restoring them. I have a set of Viper replica wheels that don't have any cloar coat on them anymore and I live in apartments so I'm not allowed to work on cars in my parking lot, so I called a person who specifically repairs wheels and they wanted to charge me $600 to repair all 4. Now don't get me wrong I thought that was actually a good price because that's about how much I'd charge to repair some wheels, but with 600 I can literally buy the same set of rims in like new conditions😂

    • @ChromaticGarage
      @ChromaticGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha these literally are vintage wheels! I am aware they are worth nothing but you are making a comparison to replicas. They're not going back on the car though. Just cleaning before they hit the storage unit.

    I dont understand why you clayed the inside of the wheel when you had to sand it down later on ? You shouldve saved time and skipped on the claying because the insideof the wheel isnt visible and with the amount of road tar and brake dust, theyll be covered with grime in a few months.

    Next time, don't use a boars hair brush on the barrel of the wheel, use a much stiffer brush and save yourself some time. Also just spray the brake duster on the tires, might as well let that soak and break down old shine and grime. All camera work but no real common sense when it comes to detailing a vehicle.

    • @crazy4rc
      @crazy4rc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its all In the product you use.

    • @morganmcmurry5276
      @morganmcmurry5276 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depending on what product you are using, dilution ratios will differ greatly.. Less is definitely more when it comes to iK Sprayers, so start by only using like 1oz of product, mix it thoroughly, and make sure you aren't filling the canister past the top line to leave enough room for air. If it's not giving you the foam you are looking for still, you can try adding more product slowly! We are more than happy to help you troubleshoot! If this doesn't work, shoot me an email morgan@theragcompany.com

Perfect to fit in with APC so I can try to get rid of those annoying dirt that I have when I raise them after a wash. I would be more than pleased if I could put a hand on that! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
