    hi tessa, i have this camera since 2 years ago and i love it - at first, but fell out of it because it is not giving me the results that i want. well, tbh, i switched vlogging using my iphone but recently i just found out that this camera can do more, i discovered that when you tweaked some of its settings (lower the iso play on white balance), it can give you fantastic photos which looks like film. i am now starting to love it again. thank you for this video, i love it!

      hi! yes, i have seen other videos posted on youtube about how you can use this camera to emulate film, which i actually have done before but through editing in post, not in camera. i'm so happy that you were able to fall back in love with your camera and find new ways to use it. it's such a great all around camera! i'm so happy you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for watching!!

    I am more of a photographer than a videographer, so I primarily use my G-series cameras for photography. My first was the G3 that I bought over 20 years ago. Then I moved on to the G6, G11, G1 X, and G5X Mark II. The G5X II is similar to the G7X, but it has a pop-up evf, and a longer zoom range. In the past, I have taken both interchangeable lens cameras and a G-series camera on trips. There are times when I just want to carry a smaller camera as opposed to a bag and multiple lenses, so it is good to have that option. And I've gone on some trips with just a compact camera to travel lighter. These cameras have a good focal length range that covers most travel situations. Thanks.

    • @tessawrice

      i can definitely relate with leaving cameras with interchangeable lenses home in order to travel lighter, especially trips where i am moving from city to city. thanks for watching!

    So happy and grateful that I found this video. I’m exactly what you described, “a beginner who doesn’t have the intention to become a photographer”. I ditched my iPhone for a dumbphone and spent weeks looking for a good, simple point and shoot camera to replace it. The G7X Mark II kept popping up as a recommendation everywhere I looked so I bought one. I don’t think I shall ever take photos as beautiful as yours, but this video has been such an encouragement. Thank you and God bless.

    • @tessawrice

      i think it’s great that even as someone who doesn’t have any specific photography goals you’re investing in such a great camera. it really is a special camera worth the hype because i think it allows all of us to exercise creativity without the risk of missing important moments bc of fumbling around with camera settings. now that you have your camera i recommend learning some basic composition techniques, it will absolutely level up your photographs and you’ll definitely be taking photos just like mine after a some good practice. thank you for watching!!

    Old camera. Have been studying this camera for months. Off and on my wish list. Arrives in a couple of days. I travel alot and this camera just looks like it will be perfect for me. The Mark 111 is nice but the overheating and slow video focus was not acceptable. The artists using this camera has produced amazing video's and photos, much better than I can do with my current equiptment in storage in the US.

      hmm i didn’t even know about the mark iii’s issues with overheating and slow focus, that’s interesting. you’ll have a lot of fun with this camera, it makes taking photos on vacation stress free and you know that you more than likely got the shot! thanks for watching!!

    • @myong9

      I have a mark iii and the focus isn’t slow, you just have to do a little more by setting your focus points. As far as the overheating, I haven’t encountered that issue yet. Fingers crossed.

    • @tessawrice
      @tessawrice  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i would say that audio is one of the biggest downsides to using this camera for videography. i am using the internal mic in this video so that should give you an idea of the quality but if i could change anything about this camera it would be adding an external mic input (not sure what that hole is called technically)

    Hi Tessa, thank you for this. I'm looking for a pocket camera I can have with me more often than the other bigger camcorders I have. I also need to shoot still photographs as well. I started photography over 60 years ago - used to develop and print my own B&W film. I moved into Super 8mm but soon found the cost of the film too much for my pocket. Digital can be expensive upfront but the running costs are much cheaper. I'm a long time Canon user - started seriously with the 35mm A1 after a Brownie Box camera, and a couple of pre-owned SLR's. Currently have the 'Classic' 5D and want to upgrade that as well. The old maxim applies - the best camera is the one you have with you. Best wishes with your channel. Liked and sub'd.

    • @bobuk5722
      @bobuk5722 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, me again. Oh yes, the 1 inch sized sensor and associated lens will outperform a mobile phone camera and without all the very clever software manipulation that goes on in the phone. One inch is a bit of a misnomer though, the sensor is more the size of a 16 mm film gate - the dimension refers back to the diameter of the old Videcon vacuum tubes (you can tell I'm old!) used in early studio video cameras

    • @tessawrice
      @tessawrice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi! i can’t imagine what it’s been like to watch photography evolve over the course of your years as a photographer. my great grandmother was a photographer and artists for most of her life (who lived to be 102) and she has always had a huge influence on my work, i actually shoot on her old leica flex camera which is so cool. definitely agree with the digital vs film cost differences, the upfront cost of digital is a lot less painful than the continuous (and increasingly expensive!!) film costs. and unfortunately i do not know how to develop my own film nor do i have the resources to do so, so i have to pay for every roll to be developed. as for the old maxim - i’m trying my hardest to keep that in mind every time i think about upgrading my cameras. there’s always something better out there but i’m learning to work with what i have! thank you so much for watching and subbing!! means so much

    • @tessawrice
      @tessawrice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my go to setting would just be shooting in auto! i honestly prefer shooting in auto with this camera because i would rather worry about exposure with my film cameras, not my digital. i also don’t find shooting in manual on a point and shoot to be worth the hassle since for me it doesn’t provide better results. much of it is editing, which i tweak exposure and colors to be more aesthetic/dramatic

    Thank you so much for this video! I found it extremely helpful in my decision making process to buy this camera because this video does such a good job at showcasing both the photo and video capabilities without major edits and it shows a variety of different lighting, settings, and subjects! It’s wild to me how popular this camera is and how many videos are made about it yet so few of them actually provide a well rounded real life experience of it. This is such a fun camera...i started watching TH-cam back in 2015 quite alot and then decided to shoot myself. I bought the g7x mark i back then, and ALLLL the youtubers were using it then for video. Its so funny how its gone viral now. Still have my g7x and it got loaded with sand from a sandboarding trip, took a week to get it all out but works fine still. I did move onto the m50 and now fujifilm...guess in 2 years time the m50 will go viral haha.

      people keep mentioning how this camera started going viral but i never realized that creators stopped using them as frequently 😅 one of my favorite creators used this camera and when i decided i wanted to make content it was an obvious choice but now a lot of those creators don’t even use it anymore! still the best intro to content creation camera in my opinion! i’ve had my eyes on a fujifilm camera but we’ll see !

    super helpful! I travel a lot every year - wish I had this when I was in Switzerland. I was between this one and the Sony rx100 vii, but that one is 1200-1300. Basically double the price and it seems that this camera is more than capable for my needs. I don't vlog and I usually use my iPhone for quick videos to edit into reels. I am really trying to do more photography and learn how to edit raw, but good to know I can still get great videos as well.

    • @tessawrice
      @tessawrice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its so tempting to buy more camera than you need, all the fancy settings and features but with travel photography i actually feel kind of hesitant to buy a more expensive camera. being that this camera comes up mountains, on beaches, and in dusty barns, i would feel a lot less comfortable risking an expensive camera in those conditions. there’s also the risk of it being stolen as well which i worry about when traveling.

      as much as i love this camera, i would go with the sony. you get more for your money and since its a newer camera there are a lot of features that the sony has that the canon doesn’t, especially with video. the only “downside” to the sony is the investment in lenses but there is nothing wrong with collecting a few lenses, it really just depends on what you’d like to do with the camera!
