I’ve had a lot of moments in the last 15 years that put me there. Had this song pop on once i got to the tree i settled on. Don’t know that it saved me by itself, but it definitely contributed.

This is such a KEY song in understanding NF And his music. Many that miss this song miss out on so much. Doing it in order is the best way. His later work is amazing and he gets better with every album but what he sets up in his earlier work he continues in his later work and Mansion and the title song from his next album Therapy Session are VITAL songs to understanding. Even on The Search song he involves the cage from his prior album (3rd after Therapy) Perception. When the MV starts he walks from the perception cage fear had him locked in and starts the search. He had that cage flown to their filming in ICELAND because connecting his work is so vital to Nate.

Clouds is last but it’s a Mixtape and he worked with Hopsin and Tech N9Ne. That album doesn’t really connect minus Paid My Dues but you see his growth so save it for last anyways. The journey is fun.

I told myself a long time ago when i was a kid, that i was at a crossroads. I could be bitter about the abuse and use it as a crutch, or i can let it go and use that momentum drive me through hard times and life in general. I let it go, and i embrace all the bad things that happend to me as ingrediaents that made me the me i am today and i like me. My brother, took the other road, is miserable (borderline sociopath) goes through life like everyone owes him, uses everyone around him, just negativity to an extreme. And yeah, im glad i went the route i did. Those burdens that weigh us down we must let go, or they WILL drown us.
This man is bringing to light behind so much mental issues we tend to swipe under the rug. Especially when it comes to our men, they cant talk about their mental anguish without being put down, but thats a topic no one is ready for. Suicide in men is so preventable, but ass hats wont address it. Almost all his music I feel at my soul, grew up in hell but it made me who I am. I will not demonize my kids for their demons, I will teach them how to fight them.

So your reactions are close but with an artist like NF you need to do your research and know his past and what he actually went through. Then you’ll be able to comprehend what he is saying in his music. He is so much deeper than you can guess. It was his step dad that abused him, his mom left him and his brother for drugs, and he had a really rough upbringing in an isolated area far north in Michigan.

I just don’t think that has to be the case for everyone. Nf will teach you many lessons throughout this journey. Whatever feels right for you is how I think you should tackle it :)
