The Firebox Ultra Cook Kit is a comprehensive system of nesting pans and plates that work together in a multitude of configurations to accomplish most any camp cooking project. Made of a sturdy thickness of hard anodized aluminum which is lightweight yet scratch resistant and long lasting. No Teflon means you’ll need to apply a seasoning as you would with Cast Iron cookware. Base kit Includes a pro quality sauté pan and the Deep Cowboy Plate, comes in an abrasion resistant 500 wt nylon case with paracord cinch closure that can be opened with one hand.
Apparently, at around 14:20 in the video I say anodizing a few times when I meant to say seasoning. Thanks to those who picked up error
Thank you, that had me a little confused.
I’ve had the 10” kit for a couple years, it is an awesome kit!
I agree. Thanks for commenting
I like the versatility of the components for sure. For a set that size you are getting alot of options when it comes to cooking on the go. I also appreciate that they appear to be of simple yet well engineered design. Fit and functional. Thanks for sharing Mark! I'll add this to the Christmas wish list.
Thanks Steve. The Christmas wish list can get long pretty fast😅
G'day Mark, I really like the idea of one handle fits all; no potential for it to heat up and makes nesting more efficient too. Not sure I'd be carrying a pizza stone in a pack, but I do wonder what else could fit inside the small kit in particular, I dont expect you'd get a firebox stove in there, but maybe utensils, a wash cloth ?
Cheers Duke.
P.S. I use rice bran oil for cooking, in part, since its fairly healthy and very well priced here, but mainly because it has a high smoke point, ..... I save my expensive EV olive oil for salad dressing, bruschetta and the like, ..... and even then sparingly ; )
Have not seen rice oil. I can get avocado oil which also has a high smoke point. Thanks for commenting Duke
I have the 8” & also have the same reflector oven you have, but I’ve never tried the pan in the oven. Just thought of that so I guess it’s time to play.
Hmm. I will try also. I have a feeling the 8" might be a bit too big. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft
If you add a small round wire rack to the reflector oven it helps with larger container’s. The wire rack from your 10” kit should work, under the rear bar & over the front bar since most of the weight is to the front of the oven it will stay in place. I use a 10” Dallarama cooling rack & it works well in the oven.
I like it. I will give that a try@@alf3553
If wanting too boil water in deep dish pan ..how many cups would be max. I use Korrn meals often uses 2 cups of water!
The smaller deep dish plate hold 2.5 cups. I don't have the larger here to measure. Hope this helps
Looks like a good excuse to fry up a few batches of bacon, that will get the seasoning process going.
I agree but I really don't need much of an excuse to fry bacon😉. Thanks for commenting
Did you not edit that little gaf on purpose mark?
They’re stuff is always great
You mean the anodized instead of seasoning? Missed it totally. Maybe I should say I wanted to see if you were paying attention😉
Firebox products are great. I have the 8" with extra shallow plate, cutting board, pizza stone, and square rack. I need to make pizzas again with the Nano. I had the technique down with wood pellets and charcoal. I've seasoned the pan and plates and works great.
Cooking with charcoal makes for a very controlled, even heat. Thanks for commenting
Is there something similar out that's NOT made from _aluminum?_ 😞
He has some castiron pans coming out in the near future...
As mentioned, Firebox has cast iron. Stanley has stainless steel. SilverAnt has titanium. Thanks for commenting
But as far as everything that I can find, hard anodized/sealed aluminum is safe to use with no leaching.
Nice kit! I wonder how the large and smaller one compares to the Trangia 25 and the 27
Do you mean as far as nesting with the Trangia kit? I have the 25 and can check that out. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft thanks for the reply.
Not just the nesting but additionally I guess many, me included, would be interested in comparing:
Which one should I buy for car camping?
Would they nest together?
I already have one of them, should I buy the other?
Similarly for the 27:
Should I buy the Firebox small kit or the Trangia 27 anodized for backpacking?
I guess since it’s thicker the Firebox would be better for campfire but does it really make a difference?
Shouldn’t I go with the 27 since it’s thinner and has a better windscreen for windy condition?
It would be nice to have a comparison video.
I can't keep up with all the new gadgets that Steve comes up with....😂 I usually carry one of those pan/pot grippers just in case, the red handle looks nice. If you can't fit a whole chicken in while using it as an oven, then a couple of stuffed Cornish hens would do. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
I agree. There is no end to the creative genius of Steve. Thanks for commenting
The trick to eggs 🥚 a water. Once the eggs get a little firmed up on the pan, then add a tiny bit of water around the eggs and with a spatula start working a little water under the eggs. Of course you have to start with the oil. If you add the water it helps regulate the temperature so the eggs don’t stick at all
Nice tip. I will give it a try. Thanks for commenting
I absolutely LOVE this company's stuff!! This kit seems perfect to me!! I would have loved to have had it available as I was moving into my little camper van last year! If I was a car camper as a single man or even with a partner, I would CERTAINLY get this kit! The rack is something I would love to have as a trivet or a "drainer" for stuff I fried. I'd even love trying the pizza stone "in the wild!" But really the ability to have a simple, quick and easy oven solution with multi uses is just a very elegant solution making the kit save money in the long run! Thanks from showcasing this great product, Mark!!
You have added some versatility to these kits. Thanks for commenting

Hey Mark... Have you done a comparison of the Lixada Tower Stove and the Toaks Titanium Wood Stove (of the same sizes)? They seem very very similar to one another... wonder which performs the best?
I don't have the Toaks but from what I can feel based on looking at it is that it may have an airflow issue at the bottom as it sits so close to the ground. Thanks for commenting
Likely my next firebox purchase haha. 😅
Along with the shortened windscreen for the Nano. The new gas burner does not like wind and the windscreen that comes with the stove is not very wind proof lol
Good choice! Thanks for commenting
I agree. I try and use a windscreen with most of my stoves as they all seem to benefit. Thanks for commenting
Wow. I’ve been working with Stanley for years. I like that they nest, but they take up space and I have two kits to make one. They have their own bag that I can’t combine in my chuck box. I think I may put them aside and keep these when I solo camp!
I do like Stanley as well. Bit heavy for solo though. Thanks for commenting
Fun tip for the scrambled eggs. Add a little bit of mayo to the eggs. It will add both oil and act as a flavor booster to the eggs. Also will result in a fluffer egg. You can also substitute mayo in the field for eggs for cake and bread recipes.
Great idea!
Worked camping with my little kiddos in the 90's!!
Their mom thought it was gross, but the kids STILL (now it their 30's) remember their "best meals" camping as being breakfast!!
This time the proof isn't in the pudding, it is in the lack of leftovers!!
Love it. Mayo is also a keto option. I will be trying these. Thanks for commenting
This is great timing mark! I just ordered one for Christmas! Can’t wait to see it in the field… Perhaps you could bake some mincemeat pies for Christmas?!
I like that idea. I do have another meal planned for the smaller kit but I may do mincemeat as well. Thanks for commenting
I'm looking at the sight and I'm ready to order. As my husband never camps with me, but I camp with people I know (everyone has their own site). When you are cooking food for just you, would you recommend the 8 or the 10?
Just for me, I would go with the 8" if I had to carry it any distance or the 10" if I was car camping. The larger one provides more versatility. If you are not in a rush Steve always has Black Friday sales. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft thank you for responding so quickly! I went with the 8" because while I car camp, I often primitive alone. I took the sale that was there, and who knows? Maybe Black Friday for the 10" set. So much smaller than the Stanley. Those go up on the FB marketplace today. I'm thrilled to try out this new set. Thank you for your time!
👍Great preview! ✅ BUT: 1:50 Stevies Video Review? Where to find it? 👀

Looks very solid 👍
Steve has a great design. Thanks for commenting
How hot does the shallow plate get of you put hot food on it? Is it worth it to get several shallow plates for car camping, or just stick to some cheap plastic plates so you dont have to worry about getting burned. I kinda wish Steve had a multiple plate deal lol.
Depending on how hot the food is but I usually use a bandana on my knee or even my foam sit pad. Would not replace a good plastic plate or my Kupilka set. Thanks for commenting
I use the chopping board to rest the plate on if eating off my knees.
Another use for these high-quality drawstring pan bags from Firebox: for those who have the not-very-common Fry-bake pans (highly recommended), these drawstring bags fit those pans perfectly, depending on the size of the bag and the size of the fry-bake pan. I love the quality of these bags, and they are the perfect way to carry the fry bake. Great review!
Was not aware of Fry-Bake. Wil look into them. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft by the time I had the Banks Fry-bake pans shipped (to Halifax) and after customs charges, they ended up being VERY expensive...and worth every penny. They have been on every camping trip for the past 2-3 years, and have cooked more pizzas on the campfire than we have ever cooked at home. Could not recommend higher. Thanks @dansklrvids7303 for the tip, I'll be picking up the bags.
Thanks for another great overview and comparison, Mark. These look like great sets, and it's nice to have the flexibility to add items as required, such as additional plates. Personally, I don't often season cookware, as it's a good excuse to use extra butter instead 😊
I agree. I would be adding butter anyway. Also, a seasoning can built up slowly through use. Thanks for commenting
Hard To Go Wrong With Steve's Products ! Thanks For Your Show & Tell Mark ! Great Products ! ATB T God Bless
Thanks for commenting Terry
Wood love to see you cook with them both on a gas stove and on a fire box type fire . Have fun stay safe.
I will be doing both at some point. Thanks for commenting
Excellent show as always! Looks like good product, good luck in the busy season coming.🤠
Glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft According to the date shown ,this looks recent.Glad to see you're looking healthy, best wishes to you and your wife!
I have them both Mark. Love them.
So agree. Thanks for commenting
I seasoned both the small and large pans, I kept the small one seasoned for cooking eggs and let the seasoning wear away on the large pan as I use that for cooking pasta sauce, tomatoes etc which effects the seasoning, the anodised aluminium is easy to clean with some boiling water and a wipe around or anything stubborn I use a wooden spatula. After cleaning I heat the pan and add I tiny drop of oil and wipe around bring to the smoke point (grape seed oil I find is the best) and wipe again and the pan is ready for the next use. When camping I use these pans all the time and I haven’t really found anything better when taking weight, convenience and effectiveness into account.
Right on. Thanks for sharing your experiences
Just a heads up Mark around the 14:30 point you state multiple times that you haven't anodized the pan and that you plan on anodizing it in the future. I know you meant season, but some viewers may get confused by that statement lol
Yes, good point. Normally, if I pick that up in editing I make a note on the screen. Thanks for commenting
Good video Mark, thanks for sharing, God bless !
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting
Like both kits, I agree with you the longer handle I myself would also like.
Thanks for commenting
Well not only that it is made from aluminum , aluminum has a tendency to melt at a certain temperature that is one of the other reasons why people don't like cooking in aluminum
