Yes, this is a symphonic metal Masterpiece! 😎🤘 Well, it's about our friends. Some stands and some don't (sour wine or a master of one fly). We all need friends, who are consistent. It's the Finnish way.
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me explores themes of solitude, self-discovery, and ones existential journey through life's trials. The imagery of the ocean, islands, and mariners reflects a metaphorical exploration of the human experience of connecting with other individuals. The song captures the essence of navigating life’s uncertainties and finding one's place in a vast, often unwelcoming world. It suggests a longing for connection and understanding while grappling with the weight of past experiences and the isolation they can bring. P.S. The reason for the many butterflies in the music video is most likely that in many cultures they show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves,. They show us the importance of surrender and trust as part of the essential process of growth and renewal. Floor recorded her vocals after only six weeks of giving birth to her 2nd daughter & told in an interview that it was painful to stand behind the microphone.
My take on the song is surely, thats its about people and events we meet along, on the path of our lives, all these strange islands, but yes i can also see how you can put the bands travel in this, but i get the other meaning more clear, when listening, however, some might get a diffrent experience from it then me, and i think that is exatly how Tuomas, like it to be.
It is indeed a story of our journey of life and the experiences we go through. But it is also the (stormy) story of Nightwish as a band. Some clues are the words 'quintet' (the 5 original members) and 'retiree' (refers to Marko leaving the band). The last quiet part symbolizes the state Nightwish is in now.
I agree except that Nightwish started out as a quartet, with Sami joining later on. It might refer to the band as is : Tuomas and the other five members?
Love this musical journey ❤❤❤ After Lanterlight, for me the best track on the new album! Great concert opener or closer 😁 Would be awesome live with a full orchestra and choir❣️
Tuomas life and 28 years of Nightwish: The band includs Jokers (Troy), jesters (Emppu), Goddesses (Floor), hominidae. -(Tuomas)... following the quintett =5 band members -Friends, who were for a time. Now grapes of sour wine ( Tarj& Anett?) -You who glow in deepest woe. Let it be, retiree, the water's fine Sail carefree. Kai confirmed that it's about Marco ( Maybe also Jukka ) And the musical style tells us about different Nightwish eras. A bit chaotic in the beginning, then typical Imaginaerum sounds, Floor and Troy coming in ...
As recently usual, I wish Floor's voice was up a couple of ticks, but it's still gorgeous. I think this was Tuomas throwing a bone to those that he knew would be clamoring for a track or two that was pure pre-Dawkins-era Nightwish. (That would be me.) So, I thank him sincerely. ••• PEACES!!!
I don’t know that I said it right. What I meant was, I usually don’t like to see the lyrics or captions as I listen to the song because it tends to distract a bit. I’d rather listen first and then go back to what I may have missed.
Great song ❤ great band ❤..great Album ❤..great reaction Sir ❤ 🦋🐬💜💥🙏
Thanks!

No live version yet. Can't wait.
I like the the way the lyrics are rolling around like in a slot machine, in which you can say, you have to take chances in life.

Such a great song. Alas, Nightwish will not be touring for this album so there are no live versions.
Well that sucks! At least we have the album version though. Thanks for the info!

My favourite song on this album is Something Whispered Follow Me, a doom metal track which becomes addictive after a few listens

I too look forward to seeing some of these new songs performed live, but unfortunately, it may be a while.
Next Lanternlight?😊😊
I’ve already reacted to that one, check out my Nightwish playlist. Did it last week

Lyrics are critical to ALL Nightwish songs. If you don't listen to them you miss half the point of the song.
