Should She Receive a Vision? Her character exists to show the difficulties of non-vision bearing mortals. So no, her getting a vision would defeat the purpose of her existence from a world building perspective.
Imagine how cruel it'll be if Celestia does give her a vision to change her perspective on gods only for her to become a fatui harbinger to bring them down
Zhiqiong was one of my favorite npcs, Even if she was hard headed all she wanted was to prove to the people and the gods that she doesn't need a vision to be a great adventurer. I can only hope to see her again one day.
She resonates so much with me. Pursuing your dream even if you have no vision (talent, aptitude, etc.) is so not easy. Do the things you love, even if you aren't good at them and maybe never will be good at the.
I wish that we will find her in the future quests as well. Like maybe we'll find her in a Sumeru quest where some miners from Sumeru found her near the Chasm or something.
As a Chinese, 瓊 (琼) is a common female name, but 志瓊 is a rare combination which I never heard of in real life because 志is quite masculine. But it doesn't feel awkward for me to see this name
an ambition too great to swallow even for herself it chokes her life out of her. I'm already tired worrying about her, since she'll go into danger without any safe regard even for herself, what use of us worrying about her? I wish Katharina was still alive instead of her
The thing is that Zhiqiong is the real Stanley, a common person, a mortal as they say, that defies her fate, and in the end she'll really explore all the world and face the dangers like a real adventurer that Staney pretend to be, I just hope she is still alive and it would be really cool if we find her like a dozen of times throughout teyvat while we explore places
Oo imagine everytime we enter a new nation, there'd be at least one world quest featuring Zhiqiong in a rather mysterious/dangerous places of the respected continent.
I think she's more like That Fucking Pallad BUT she has a goal, she's brave and most importantly she never pushed our waifus and revived a dead flower. I don't think she'll need our help when she's attacked by hilichurls
Spoilers for venti story quest, but stanley was a real adventurer. Was. He died in mare jivari saving the person who now claims to be stanley to keep the real stanley’s memory alive.
@@dragonenvy0265 I don’t think they meant that Stanley, it’s more so based on this other game called the Stanley parable where a normal guy defies what he’s supposed to do I think
@@catlin3949 they said “like a real adventurer that stanley pretended to be”. Doesn’t really make much sense for them to say that if they meant the stanley parable
Honestly at first I was sus of her knowing how Abyss dudes can turn into humans like Enjou, but later on I found huge sympathy in me for her..And after reading her letter and especially that part about the gods, I can’t help but take a side with Dain and her on that one..we often forget that its the ordinary people who make the world go around, not those at the top..I loved her quest so much and honestly i hope she is alive and well..
Ngl I simply thought of how unfair it is for the gods to gift visions to some people who didn’t deserve it in the first place, what I mean is that as Zhiquong said that people work day and night, tirelessly working their asses off without the acknowledgment of the gods, there are some character stories I’ve read that made me question if it is necessary to earn a vision considering their circumstances.I’d also wonder why do other people who simply work hard and risk themselves hardly get Visions. Barbara stood out the most for me,she only had to “try hard” singing to a child who was busy crying,it doesn’t sound “life threatening” or “vision worthy” to me,it was just a case in which she basically couldn’t tame a child and she just had a sleepless night.I’m not saying that it has to be a deadly situation but I’m just saying that some stories just don’t sound like a call for help for the gods to simply gift one a Vision. The one I’d say that would deserve a Vision for example was Rosaria, because she was in a life or death situation that resulted in her ambition to live which was rewarded her.
@@Justacuriouslady i think this is actually the charm of the game itself and you can connect it to the real world aswell..Here we are judging other characters instead of judging Celestia who actually (probably)started all of this bs, because as far as we know, in the time of Primordial one, all humans were equal, in one unified civilisation..Then Celestia was like nah, imma pick few selected humans and make others feel like trash..Exactly like Dain says in Trailer, “few are chosen and rest are drags”
@@aliffaruq6954 TBH, I don't think th gods have any reason to give a Vision unless they see that person as a potential threat. Look at what happened in Inazuma Archon Quest, the people who lost their Visions no longer had any purpose in life. A Vision honestly seems like a way to install a sort of "off" switch if they start to become a bit too ambitious.
Welp, Zhiqiong left her legacy of making a full map of the mines and what were the mysteries surrounding it. The gods may not thank her for it nor give her a Vision but the exploration team, returning miners and Muning will be in her debt because of her maps and being a good cartographer even if she's reckless and careless. ( I also want to know what were the criteria of receiving Visions. What kind of dreams and aspirations are worth looking upon to be rewarded with such power and what is the payment for it in return like what Lisa had said about Visions.)
I think she's partway there. Vision wielders are people who have been following their dream for a while. Pushing through like Bennett, Beidou, Keqing, Yunjin etc. They were already doing their dreams. But the defining moment for some seems to be when those dreams might be shattered, halted etc. Like Bennett when he collapsed in an adventure after opening the chest to find...nothing and yet still keeping his fire for adventure. So yes. She may have to do her trial by fire...not literally hopefully.
Actually, there is hint that they are given to people who has aspirations that 'might' be a threat to Celestia if taken to an extreme, or has qualities that make them a threat. Xiangling can be a threat if she discovered a meal that can give immortality. Qiqi is a threat because the adepti gave her a second life, and was given a vision as a precaution because the adepti saw something in Qiqi that might make her a future threat. Hu Tao's knowledge of the afterlife Leylines makes her a threat. Bennett's unlucky fate means he is a threat once he died and joined the leylines, thus, he was prevented from dying. And many more...
@@skybattler2624 Well, with that logic in mind, her questioning of the status quo and her relentless drive to understand it or even change it may very well land her on that list. And honestly, I think that's what Hoyoverse is going for with this one. Think about it. Every time we have come across a vision weilder, they already have their vision and have had it for quite some time. Never, at any point in the game, have we been witness to someone receiving a vision. Sure, we get some backstory from the characters in their voice lines, but again its always past tense. Personally, I think Zhiqiong will get a vision and she will be the first character we see receive on in the story.
@@rencharon3458 and i don't know if you've seen the manga but allogenes(vision wielders) dont really 'ascend' like the tales that tells it does. a vision is basically a prison sentence because once an allogene dies and ascends, they get sent to this prison like structure where the gods can easily keep an eye on you and to add onto this, the chinese for vision literally translates to "the eye of god", it's like celestia is planting cameras on possible threats to them funfact! allogenes are also called genshins, hence the name genshin impact
As of August 2023, Zhiqiong was just mentioned in an event quest! A cartographer named Peixiu mentioned a woman who is a very skilled cartographer and left for a mining area as part of a project to link the Sumeru and Liyue Adventurer's Guild branches. Considering she was mentioned a year later, Hoyoverse definitely hasn't forgotten about her.
While I do understand and empathize with Zhiqiong, I still find her not only reckless but selfish in a way that makes me want to shake her by the shoulders. The Exploration Team wanted her to rest after too many encounters with the mud, not completely forbid her from trying again. During the whole quest-line I was internally screaming for her to regroup. I'm grateful for her help, but goodness gracious, there's a thing called a steady pace. Mountain climbers don't get to the top by bulldozing through the terrain. Gaining muscles, learning new languages, or even growing a business doesn't happen overnight. All things take time, and she's too impatient to see that. Hell, when she left the camp again and I found her letter, I shook my head and sighed. Already, her contribution to the Team was huge. Mapping and navigating whole complex cave system - likely avoiding enemies too - was an impressive feat. Though the gods did not grant her a Vision, she was already one of the few adventurers who braved the Chasm! Besides that, experience or not, what was she going to do in the deeper parts of the Chasm without the Team's aid? How will she find supplies (there's only mushrooms, and you all know what happened to Uncle He)? What about her health? What if she gets injured? What use is your ambition to make a mark in history if your act serves to become a warning instead of an example?
An addendum: She truly is a mirror of Bennett, but for all their identical faults, one thing that differentiated them is their circumstances. The world's intent on giving Bennett the worst it can offer to the point where no one is willing to come with him. He had to learn the hard way how to go solo, and courting death becomes second nature because no one would watch his back. Zhiqiong has the resources, a team to back her up when she stumbles and falls, people who cared for her well-being, and she just... leaves it all behind. The team Bennett would have loved to have.
I cared for her before. I didn't want her to be another teppei, I was Happy because we got another npc best friend.. but I got tired of her behavior that I just don't care anymore and literally skip her dialog. I used to think he's a little stubborn and now I think she's annoying
@@lapisincognito As I said in another comment, I hope Traveler gets angry at her if we ever find her again. I really wanted to like her but what she did felt like a slap to the face with how much Traveler kept reminding her to take a break. Teppei at least did what he did in service of the Resistance and hopefully ending the Decree soon. Traveler only realized what happened when it was too late, and I'm sure if they knew sooner, they would've ripped the Delusion off of him.
This!!! I mean yeah her thought of questioning the way of god is something that i shared with. But ffs she should have known to earn one knowledge is also mean listening to others. She is acting like a brat who keeps repeating her mistake endangering herself acting like its for the greater good, teenager rebellion phase i must say. I hope we will meet her again in the future with traveller to at least give her a good scolding or smth. Cz if she died like this, she will be remembered as a foolish who jump straight into danger for no fckng reason, an idiot who dont know how to stop, and a mortal whose jealousy towards vision bearer so strong she gave up her life trying to get "God's attention". After all despite how annoying she get, she somehow earned a soft spot on me and i want to see her thrive for the better
She was needlessly reckless imo. She could achieve all she wanted to do in the Chasm if she had been a little more rational. It's as if she was running on a deadline, and if the game reveals that yeah, there was some sort of deadline, then at least the could explain some of her actions.
Thank you for this video. I've seen some people say that they hate Zhiqiong because she's stubborn. But they fail to acknowledge the reasons for her actions. All she wanted was to leave a mark, and that feat is hard to achieve without getting blessed by a Vision. I love the fact that she questioned the god's logic. The inequality, the injustice they gave to the mortals. For now, I hope for the best for her as well.
Quite hard to see that injustice and inequality with visions given how...your success in the world of Teyvat isn't entirely dependent on Visions. As we've seen, you can succeed without one. A Vision is one of the many trophies you could get in your life as a marker of your achievements.
@@silverhawkscape2677 visions improve your survivability during adventures however, so there is injustice in a way. Until we see great adventurer without vision, of course.
@@silverhawkscape2677 From Zhiqiong's perspective, visions are kind of like a trophy/acknowledgement they receive from the gods. She claimed that there are people more deserving of it and gave examples on her final letter. Perhaps the words inequality and injustice were a bit overboard, but I digress.
Klee's Vision Story : "Asking Klee how she obtained a Vision will probably get you nowhere - she doesn't know, either. A natural-born pyromaniac, Klee had already been acknowledged by a Vision from a very young age" Lol imagine pyromaniac girl got vision easily, not a hard worker adventurer.
If only she can see the perspectives from some other Vision bearers as well... We have someone who can achieve great feats without a Vision (Beidou) We have someone who doesn't care that much about having a Vision (Hu Tao) We even have someone who is bitter instead of overjoyed upon getting a Vision (Ningguang) There definitely are people who wishes to lead a great life without having a "superpower". There is no need for someone to recklessly throwing their life away, just to try to aim for unnaturally high goals, so that they can look equal to the Vision bearers. Foolish girl... not idiotic, but foolish...
I'm glad that you also mentioned the oversimplification of quests done by many. Both Ayaka and Ei's part 1 quest were very important for the story building and had lots and lots of important info but many fail to realize it.
Although her behavior was annoying as hell she's one of few NPC's you get attached to in short period of time. Like Hoyo wanted to make that kind of thing with Teppei but they didn't succeed, he felt very bland so I personally didn't care about him. Zhiqiong's dissapearance, on the other hand, made me really sad.
Wdym Teppei was loved by 80% of the fandom. He cared for us, showed us around and we were suppose to wear our uniforms together after he catched up with usಥ‿ಥ
for an NPC Zhiqiong is so pretty also "what a mere mortal is in the eyes of a god" cue Zhongli reminiscing about a talented family of a blacksmith, craftmen, poets, artists, about how milileth is the one that keep liyue safe not adepti or rex lapis, now him letting go of his gnosis and wishing to live along side human gives a new meaning
I always see the Adepti and Rex Lapis as the one defending against the impossible threats. While the Milileth handle whatever they can but to the fullest of it.
@@silverhawkscape2677it is true yes but there is a furniture in the teapot, I forget which one but it is a gate with a description "people of liyue believes that adepti keep them safe, except a certain funeral consultant that insist it is milileth that did the work" forgive me if it is wrong ^^
Bruh there's 50 other npc that look like her. I Honestly wish that they did make plot npc look a little different from normal npc. They blend in so much you don't really remember them.
@@PlatinumDagger I feel like the fact they look the same is good. Her entire character revolves around her questioning the logics behind only giving a few visions and the rest being ordinary. She does not have a vision, so she is ordinary like every other NPC. To make her look different like the vision holders or even slightly different would distract from the point imo. This is just a single regular human, but what’s special about her is that we have now learned her story. Every NPC has the potential to be like Zhiqiong, but because we don’t know them, they are cast aside. Zhiqiong searches answers for the regular mere humans like her
as a traveler, we are getting use to hanging out with high ranking and powerful person in Tevyat, litreral country leaders, archons, high ranking official, some of the most powerful person in each nations, but we rarely see how it looks to live in Tevyat from the perspective of ordinary visionless people, Zhiqiong quest is the best of this kind of quest, but there are also many of this kind of quest , many of them are really sad and dark, the sad and dark ones are mainly in Inazuma and Liyue many of this quest also give impression of how life goes on in each nations and each of their life quality
I wish the day will come when players will witness an NPC getting their own vision. And at some point will become playable. For a year and a half of playing Genshin, we’ve witnessed a lot of NPCs with strong will of pursuing their dreams, very passionate about their field of knowledge. The characters we play with visions shouldn’t just be a thing of the past. As a player, it feels like the people who get their visions already got theirs for a decade or two (sometimes centuries ago.) Witnessing one in real-time would give a great event and gameplay for us players to experience. In the case of Zhiqiong, an NPC who contributed a lot for a certain event (and a lot of NPCs we met along the way), her dedication, passion and will should be recognized by the gods. After all, all vision-bearers we see in the game have a specialty in a certain area or field of career. A cartographer could add some sparks- and proved to be important -for the future storylines. Zhiqiong could be an Anemo or Geo user. Anemo for “space” as her talent needs to have a spatial awareness that will be translated into maps. Or Geo because maps portray lands. And she’s good at analyzing that. I do hope Hoyoverse will consider this approach. Players of old and new will definitely pull for her because we’ve already have a sense of familiarity with Zhiqiong.
It would be interesting to see such an event, but like the video uploader mentioned it would defeat her purpose in world building. So I'd probably have that event take place with a different character. However I wouldn't mind seeing her become playable...Maybe she'd be playable without a vision and instead replace elemental skill with the parry move they introduced in the festival event. Could at least give her a physical damage build. But that's just my thoughts, granted it wouldn't be ideal or practical for battle.
Sorry but making a non elemental character doesn't seem like a great idea so it's better if we see her more in the future and have nice interaction with her maybe even some hang out quest. In the case of her having a vision (even if I don't like that idea) it's probably better for her to stay the way she is as an npc since we never saw an npc with a vision(correct me if I'm wrong)
@@jeweliz2605 there are 4 NPCS who had visions at the top of my head, one is the NPC near Wangshu Inn who defeats a ruin grader in an instant during one of the daily commissions in Liyue. The other 3 are the NPC's who's visions got confiscated during the Vision Hunt Decree in Inazuma.
Personally, from Raiden's quest, we learned that the Seven has no hand in bestowing Visions. But perhaps before the Second, they do personally bestow visions. Maybe Tsaritsa was trying to do the same without relying on Celestia? Like the Twin, her methods are cruel and immoral. But she alone seemed determined to do something while the other Archons deemed that fighting Celestia's might to be beyond them. In reflection of our reality, people with power are not really blessed because like Spiderman always quoted; with great power comes great responsibility. Not to mention that being given a Vision is not just being acknowledged by Celestia but being surveyed by them. No Vision bearer are truly free at the end of their journey should they ever reach the peak like Vanessa. It's a frightening thought. Somehow, maybe the reason Venti is so weak is not just because he refused to govern Mondstadt but rather the very nature of his divinity; Freedom, have been compromised by the Second residing in Celestia.
@@fernandosiahaan906 Well, delusions are interesting. From the Archon Quest, we've seen that Crystal Marrow, the remains of a dead god, were part of the construction process in the Inazuma distributed ones. Could normal visions have a similar creation method? Sorry that's it's nothing about what you said, I just immediately thought of this when reading your comment.
And from what I’ve heard, those who receive a vision and ascend to godhood actually end up locked up in a maximum security prison in Celestia. _a fate worse than death_
Zhiqioing's letter is so thought-provoking. I love the characters with Visions (Hu Tao, Ayaka, Kazuha), but you really can't help but think of those other people, who work hard just as well, but were not granted any gifts from the gods. They are just as important as our mains. These characters allow us to question the principles of Teyvat. I hope we get more NPCs like her in the future.
Because vision doesnt bestowed because of hardwork,we already knew how messed up celestial being is, visions holders most likely are pawns in a gigantic chess game of celestia, and vision holders probably not aware of it,they thought thats some kind of grace from heaven.celestia give visions for people who is going to have role for their celestia script in teyvat, thats why raiden see visions as a threat in the first place.
I just want her to be safe or at least not die a lonely dog's death. I'd like to think that because of her talent and skills for cartography, the Liyue Qixing would do their best to keep watch over her. She is a huge asset to the nation since she is spearheading exploration of the Chasm, which holds long lost technology and knowledge that could lead Liyue to a new golden age.
inb4 she is revealed not to side with the Abyss, but with the Fatui, possibly becoming its newest Harbinger, consdering she shares some of its ideologies, specifically that of Visions and Vision-bearers. Not to mention how she likes to tirelessly pursue the truth about this world, she would certainly pique the interest of the likes of Pierro and the Tsaritsa.
this quest broke me so hard it took me a week to recover... I mean whenever I set foot in the chasm I remember her and i had the urge to cry.. I hope I'll see her again soon
I actually cried reading the letter and it hit me so hard cause I played the quest comparatively slowly just to embrace the lore properly. Hoyoverse's writers really be built different.
@@cosmickaustav it felt really rushed and also the whole power of friendship the traveller got was BS and Khazua beign able to block the attack of an archon wits only 2 visions doesn't make sense
@@skinnylegend1542 Okay so I'll try to explain it. First of all there's nothing like power of friendship being shown here. Inazuma was setup from the start to be ome of the first regions which wouldn't have all lore laid out to us in its archon quests. This continued on even in Enkanomiya wherein you get the small but huge info that Celestia is alien from Enjou but a huge ton of the lore was hidden after you do the hidden and extra quests. Similarly inazuma has most of its lore given out in its world quests, secret quests and even items and artifacts. Although it might be true that many are not much invested in the story but they should also understand that Mihoyo would never make a useless or bad story as they've been doing it for years. Further on coming to your point, Kazuha didn't use 2 vision out of no where. It was the prequel quest of inazuma with Kazuha where Traveler came to know about his friend's story and his "ambition" and it was his friend's "ambition" which was awakened by Kazuha when he saw the Traveler about to be killed by Raiden Shogun just like how his friend was executed. And for the "power of friendship" part, yes, it WAS indicated in the main story that that the Traveler was able to respond to the "ambitions" or the "will" of the visions on the Statue. Although there are many more such cases but I'm not sure if you'd be interested to read all of that. But yeah I'd like to say one thing everytime I see such messages, Inazuma's Archon quest was short, yes, but it WAS NOT rushed at all. Rushed is just something few started to say without going through the story at all and others simply started to say the same. It was short because people wanted content fast so Mihoyo gave them the content but those who wanted to know about the story did get to know everything by themselves with the crumbs given to us throughout the story.
Yeah i would assume her to be dead but then Joel's father returned from dragonspine (even though he's most likely fake), we can hope to meet Zhiqiong, though not sure if she would the same 😭

I really appreciate your investigations, If I ever get confused or Don't understand the full story I always wait for your video's. I love your channel and the way that you describe everything. 💜
It hasn't been about equality but about the will and heart to wield the power. Zhiqiong has the will but she is sadly too impulsive. Her having a vision would just be putting her in more danger as then she would start hitting even more dangerous places.
Perhaps you forgot the most important part of her letter "In ancient times when heroes and Yakshas fought alongside Rex Lapis, when colossal boulders were halved to form the mountains, when giant rocks were cast from the skies to create seabeds, what was the place of the mere mortals like us - whom the gods had neither noticed nor recognized? What are our mundane loves and hatreds, mundane happiness and tragedies, mundane achievements and accomplishments, mundane bonds and relationships... Are all these just something of no consequence in the eyes of the gods? Are ancient dwellings of the gods and those unfathomable scenes really far beyond the reach of commonplace human courage?" Honkai also has Dr. Mei (different from regular Mei) asking similar questions, in her case it was "humanity's worth among the vast universe" (in this context, including the Imaginary Tree) She also strives, as a normal human being, to find out 'how far she could go" to make a difference or find her worth in her deeds Basically this is THE Mihoyo's theme, about where we humanity stand when there exist things "above" us or beyond our understanding Something like Cthulhu Mythos, actually
Sorry, I understand her reasons, I get the sentiment, I understand the purpose of her character, but I stand by what I said about her actions being foolish, selfish, impulsive, impatient, and irresponsible. You can prove yourself to be a great adventurer without being so hard to work with. Did she think she can be a great adventurer by herself?, That's ridiculous, everyone has a role, her role was a cartographer, the Traveler's role was to help her clear the path so that she can do her damn job, so why can't she be patient enough to do just that? Her behavior simply shows that she's an amateur adventurer, ambition can be good, but you need patience to achieve it.
Someone on the same wavelength as me. Honestly, an adventure without companions sounds like a lonely one. Zhiqiong had a whole team - Bennett would have been estatic to have them - willing to help her out. They're there to cover her weaknesses, and with time, they would have undoubtedly conquered the Chasm. I'm sure Taliesen would have been more than happy to sing a couple tales of their deeds to spread back in Mondstadt. Then she just goes deeper in, without considering her options. Seriously, how the hell is she going to survive with dwindling supplies and her poor health? She was too eager to prove herself worthy, than she didn't stop to think she's more than enough. Blinded by the promise of validation.
Thank you! I can't stand the comments calling her attitude "cute". She could of gotten everyone lost and killed. She also almost died at the beginning when she mentioned that she dropped her camera while scaling the cliffs. When you remi d her of danger she gets mad and runs in front of us like a child in a candy store. The abyss should of offed her.
this is why she doesn't have vision. she is no threat to celestia and no worthy in the eyes of the gods in celestia. giving her vision will make celestia look like a fool and people will question why she has vision.
Personally I find her personality pretty annoying, but she is a very interesting npc and brings up a lot of interesting topics. I really enjoyed the chasm, with the combination between the beautiful scenery, fun exploration, the amazing archon quest and the other world quests... gotta be my favorite place besides Mondstadt so far.
maybe that celestia didn't give vision to Zhiqiong because of her talent of making maps and want to explore the unknown areas. If Zhiqiong have a vision then it is easily for her to explore new areas and making maps but I think that she may discover someting that celestia don't want to be discovered so that's why she don't have a vision. Like miners if they have a vision then it is easily for them to locate ores that have high quality.
Wow.. this truly opened my eyes to the whole meaning of vision bearers and importance of NPC's.. It may seem like that they talk too much or aren't truly special (which I never saw them as, merely stating how some gamers may see them in that way), but without NPC's, we wouldn't have proper storyline from all sorts of different perspectives, and we wouldn't be able to see the view points of common folk within the game to be able to understand the history of Teyvat and it's gods. In my opinion, the common folk of the nations aren't nothing just because they hold no visions, if anything, without these decent common folk (NPCs), the archons would have no people to follow in their stead, or have anyone to believe in them. Just because they hold no visions, doesn't mean they don't hold the divine gazes of their archons. The archons believe in the protection and guidance of their people, the safety of their nations and followers mean a lot to them. Zhongli has faith in his people, to be able to protect their nation without the powers of their archon, Ei cherishes her people and her nation to an extent to where it nearly blinded her into the thoughts of "Eternity", which they didn't really need, just like how a mother would with her child, giving them what she thinks they need, but in reality she just needed them to let them tread their own path to progress and have faith in them. Venti simply wishes freedom and happiness for his people, and Nahida wishes for her people to obtain knowledge to where they grow into better and stronger individuals of their making in order to keep living on. In short terms, you don't need a vision to be special in the gods' eyes, you simply just need to live, prosper, succeed the best you can in life, and try to be happy, simply exist, and the gods will forever cherish your existance and way of living. Even the simplest lives can hold a greater meaning than simply being a "hero" (vision bearer), without common folk, how would the world continue existing? The jobs they undertake and hobbies they undergo in their daily lives, are what make each nation unique, their cultures, beliefs, personalities, are all what make each nation special. I've met many gamers who usually just enjoy the main characters due to their fighting techniques and visuals, but there are those who actually do enjoy the storyline that the NPCs put out in order to continue on the game, that's what makes Genshin Impact an amazing game, the story, the roleplay, the creativity in each NPCs unique personality. So for those who don't notice how special NPCs are to the game, and see them as "loud mouths" or "constant talkers", realize that without NPCs, there is no decent storyline, and there would be no decent Genshin Impact game without them, that is my true belief~
I hope in the next update she's a prominent character like she found something suprising in the chasm like solve the mysterious tree there or find the missing yaksha or at least his remnants coz we still do t kbow what happened to him. Also maybe she can reveal us what the sumeru guy keep hiding from us. I can feel she'll like teppei
Remember: in the chasm high levels of elemental energy(radiation from the rocks) causes peoples health who explore without proper gear to deteriorate. So the deeper she goes the more her health declines. And even if she reached the abyss side of teyvat she’d be in deaths door coughing blood. Unless an abyss mage/lector offers her salvation by becoming a mage or lector herself absorbing power from beyond. Etc etc.
I actually fine it interesting that you compare her to Benny when I'd saw in the pursuit of being remembered and carving out of place for herself in history she'd be closer to Noelle. This is the girl that went to Dragonspine on her own to rescue someone and this is before she had her Vision. This target pursuit of trying to prove yourself is what makes me compare them more than to Bennett.
I really like her, she can put her life in danger and she knows that it makes others worried but she doesn't let that stop her. I hope we meet her again in Sumeru or something. Or she could be an abyss lector like Enjou but a kind ally! That would be really cool
I see it more as selfish really. If the Traveler wasn't on the team, they'd be forced to either risk their own lives to save her or live with the knowledge that they abandoned a comrade. When you have a team and you refuse to take support from them when you need it, you are hurting the team. She's really just endangering people who care about her because she's too impatient and reckless.
I honestly like most of the NPCs we meet. Their all very ambitious yet are overlooked by both gods and the players. Its kind of brilliant writing in this case because in a sense the players are the omnipresent entities of teyvat, where the traveler, archons and vision holders follow our will. Both in game gods and the players over look and ignore the hard work of NPCs. Yunjin really has the right idea of creating operas centered around ordinary people, because vision bearers too are ordinary people who just so happened to get acknowledged for being 'extraordinary' and we agree. But most of the characters themselves don't see the big deal, their happy to recieve such acknowledgement but at the end of the day they worked just like anyone else.
Exactly. Ordinary men and women who also went above and Beyond. Reminds me of the Medallion of Honour. For those who went above and beyond the call of duty. But at the end, they are ordinary men and women as well. Like many recipients after the war living ordinary lives.
There's also the possibility that she survived the Chasm, fell into the Abyss but didn't join them, instead she hid and tried to survive. Her not having a vision also adds her the bonus that the Abyss Order wouldn't care about her. Then when we finally go to the Abyss (in around 6-7 years from now, lol) we meet her again and she once again gives us a complete version of the map (since I don't expect a statue of the seven down there). That would make a very interesting story and make it a hella interesting come back from an npc. That would also let her name be remembered for a very long time. Zhiqiong, the first human to venture the Abyss, map it and return alive. I would love that.
Thanks for letting me know about the letter, probably wouldn't have found it for a long time without this video. I've been wondering what happened to her, but I'll hope for the best.
Zhiqiong is one of my favorite npc by now. Her story feels so relatable. Her quest made me feel so down, not crying like Ruu's or Kazari's one but still made me sad for weeks. I rank her story as high as Kazari and Ruu now.
NO There's no way I'm letting her die Even if I solo that ruin serpent with a level 1 traveler with a level 20 dull blade to save her I'll DO IT. She's one of the best NPCs!!
Thank you so much for making theese videos, Cat with Blue Hat. I barely have the time to understand what's going on on the story chapters as I play them, so this really helps me understand the plot and the world much better.
The logic of visions are really interesting mostly the methods of how characters get get them some get them through breakthroughs, some from the brink of death, others just get one and could careless(Albedo) it's just interesting
I love this concept of questioning the Divine. What constitutes for the Divine to give out vision? I see her character as the peak of that question. If she dies that means Gods don't give a shit about dreams and aspiration.
I'm glad and also sad I belong to those minority of the community who actually loves talking to most if not all NPCs and realizing importance of almost every quests for the overall worldbuilding. It just adds so much depth to how much the "main" or "important" quests hit you after knowing all the additional and related lore. It was probably my own thoughts initially to try to interact with everyone as I wanted to see it like actual open world game but it was Venti's story quest which really made me push and enjoy the NPCs even more. I hope to see Zhiqiong soon in future and meet many more NPCs who would actually have many important info for us, like many whom we met in Liyue and Inazuma and from some few in Mondstadt, but people would probably just skip through many things and regard the story not be good...
I agree wholeheartedly, I talk to everyone and I love it. And I advise to not be sad, It´s better not to care about what the majority thinks or does, they can´t invalidate one´s experience. Have a great day.
she reminds me so much of the mc of made in abyss that i can't help but get annoyed. she was working in a team but only thinks of her dream. in the end she did decide to travel alone, she did the right thing if she wanna insist on her ways.
(Sorry for the long text) If I may, this sort of question was once played out in Liyue's region if you hunt those special treasure vault things (the ones that are a plate on the floor with energy flowing out of it) In it, we follow the story of two individuals with similar goals: "to be able to defeat monsters because they are evil and a threat". During this one of them succeeds but other doesn't, similar to Bennet and Zhiqiong. Now, what exactly happens? The one that gets his vision actually has an interesting turn in regards to his goal, he gained his vision but now questions if the monsters truelly are evil or simply acting in their nature, he begins questioning what he considered and starts renewing his point of view. On the other hand the other one, the one who didn't simply held to the ideal that all monsters should die and still pursued that ideal. From what we can gather, he never received his vision... and to top this story off: both knew each other and both were friends (were because it feels like they split up). Why is this important? Because in the end both Bennet and Zhiqiong have similar goals and similar actions and behaviours, yet one received a vision while the other didn't. We know that visions are their dreams and ambitions made manifest but not everyone can attain them. Also consider that people believe the Archons grant visions yet we know now that is not true... we also know that Kaeya, a surviving Khaenri'ahn, is eligible for a Vision. I honestly believe there's more to this than it would seem, a hidden quality that makes Visions a reality. Also note that she claimes the blessed ones receive theirs by chance, I feel like this is more telling on what she's considering. That maybe she feels like wherever or wahtever is granting this Visions is being unjust and that all are deserving. And all though that is a fair notion, it is also a dangerous one. Yes you can have someone do a dangerous job, but what of who they are? She mentions the herb gatherers that hung on the cliffs and receive no vision, Qiqi was one such individual and she received hers near the end of her life. Putting this into perspective, I think that it is not the Gods that grant these visions directly... but perhaps something needed within the very person to activate it. Perhaps Zhiqiong hasn't received hers yet because she simply hasn't reached that point yet. And as it seems, all visions have a reason to appear on specific people: Anemo on people who value Freedom the most, Geo for people who understand the value and honour of a deal or contract, Dendro for people who view and understand the world and become wiser for it and etc.. perhaps Zhiqiong's closer to understanding herself and gaining hers... but also being so close to the Abyss that seems to toy on the ambitions of others as hinted when you ascend its floors... who's to say she will understand it if she further descends and not be warped by it?
I just re-discovered your channel and now I'm watching all your videos! All these topics you describe and explain are so interesting to watch and understand
I think the questions she asked are interesting, but completely invalidated by the foolhardy unnecessary risks she takes. *She's* the one dismissing the herb gatherers and miners and the shipwrights. Such a thing has never been thought of before by any character ~~to my knowledge~~, and Venti and ZL, at the very least, clearly celebrate what it is people choose to do (Raiden is learning, and what we know of Kusanali is that she seems to walk amongst her people too). She's filled her head with stories of grandeur, and dismissed all else as a result. And in the meantime, all those people aren't deliberately taking risks they know they won't come back from. Incidents and accidents happen, yes, and they're certainly aware of the risks they're taking, but they aren't deliberately running headlong into danger. The Dain quote really highlights it, I think, that ultimately she wishes she weren't just a human, because in her mind, for all that we can clearly see people thriving, it's just not worth anything to her Like I said, I think the questions in her letter are fascinating to ruminate on, they don't justify the actions she herself is taking. It's like, idk, a scientist looking for the cure to cancer injecting themselves with every variation of medicine they can regardless of risk. If they die from it, because they aren't taking the necessary precautions, then what's the point of their work? How are they to ever complete it? But hey, they burned the candle at both ends, so that has to be something, right? /s She's taking unnecessary risks in the name of adventure, when damage mitigation is both easy and available, and that frustrates me to no end. I kind of hope she does wind up in the abyss, and that learns from her mistakes. It's only appropriate.
For me she is equally foolish and important... foolish because she keeps on truckin' despite her health issue (I get she'll keep doing her job till her body collapse, but my gosh think about how much heart attack she would cause if she die and we, the travellers, found her body) but important because she charted the way for others to get to their destination safely and the mind-boggling questions about celestia.
but you can't blame her for being so arrogant, she just want to make an impact on teyvat even tho she knows its impossible without a vision. Although she most likely wouldn't be remembered as someone important, at least she is remembered by all of us in our hearts
@@蔚-u6m What I'm most scared for her is if celestia goes after her and gets killed in the process for knowing too much. She got affect by the black gunk and said something about the heaven and the abyss while affected by it. Then blame it to the Abyss Order.
Oh God, I don't even play the game, yet ur good editing, nc touch of bgm & good interpretion of Ziqiong's resolve, CatWithBlueHat, is almost making me shed tears…… 🥲
two ways seems possible for Zhiqiong... • explanation for us to show how a mere human can shift to the "dark side" and embrace the Abyss • paragon of "mortals" non violent freedom : she display her singularity by helping others and building something by herself rather than destroying. but I can't believe she's dead and/or not to be seen in the futur.
What I find sad in this case, just like in Sara's, is that she doesn't know her nation's "god" ain't omnipotent nor omniscient to "look after everyone"( Implying he's granting Visions, or "God's eye" if we take the original Chinese name). Zhongli would be more than happy to hear her complaints and would agree with them, yet he's just as human as her, a 6,000+ year old human(Although he's an adeptus). It's the same for Sara, whom wasn't saved by Raiden. Raiden probably would never even know her if she wasn't used as a pawn by the Kujou clan to become a General for them, and she cannot do much for Sara either. Ei also commits huge flaws, she's just as human as this tengu. I even think Sara would make a better Shogun, a leader of Inazuma, than Ei since unlike her, Sara has the knowhow to deal with a government and the humility of a normal being(Sara, despiote her militaristic tones, is extremely reasonable, looking at how she treated Xinyan before the end of Sakoku Decree and how she treated Kokomi in her story quest, accepting almost all of Watatsumi's demands but one which would mean a defacto emancipation of the region, something she has no authority to grant, only Raiden Shogun does). I still think Zhiqiong receiving a vision would serve not as a catharsis to people whom like her and want her to achieve her dreams, but as an effective way of ho the "Vision-granter" actively culls people's ambitions with "good intentions" through their "gaze". Would she shut up if the gods finally give her a vision and abandon her questions on why the average miner or shipwrighter isn't being "seen" when she herself is on their gaze? On her perspective, I still think she's wrong. The average miner or shipwrighter or herbalist risk their lives just like any other person in a dangerous job, but they aren't unique, and their dreams aren't unique. As long as they are replaceable, they won't get the gaze of even their own colleages of their profession. Only an ominiscient and all-loving being can set their gaze upon everyone, as only those we love calls our attention, not mere NPCs. Zhiqiong is replaceable as an adventurer and mapmaker, she's replaceable as a Chasm Investigation member and as a Liyue Citizen. She even shares Hiiragi Chisato's hairstyle so even her design ain't unique. She's irreplaceable only as Zhiqiong, only irreplaceable for what she is, not for what she does. The question is, how many in her world knows her as Zhiqiong, and not just mapmaker or adventure guild member?
Ooh, very well put, especially how people put the gods on higher pedestals than most of them actually are... I wonder if we'll talk about that in Fontaine, where the archon appears to be particularly prideful.
@@xOrionNebula2708 technically I wasn't: I said "the Archon appears to be particularly prideful" therefore according to Fontainian Law Codex Book 3 Chapter XII b)ii I am not wrong
I was unable to sit still not knowing what happened of her. Then I came across your video. I'll go find that letter now. Also, subscribed. Good content. :D
She seeks to take on the chasm without any prior combat training or fore-knowledge of Dark mud locations? I don’t know if MiHoyo wants us to feel bad about Ziquiong or show us how much favoritism Celestia has in providing visions(if the gods of Celestia truly are the ones handing them out in accordance.)
I loved Zhiqong's storyline so far but I think a reason a lot of people hated it is because you physically couldn't do the dainslief quest without not only opening the underground area in the chasm but also continuing the chasm delver's quest which was super annoying when all a lot of people, including myself, wanted to get to the actual archon quest and had to sit through extra dialogue/tasks. I wish it was separate from the dainslief quest and not a requirement, if I did it on my own time I probably would've enjoyed her and the quest itself much more. But all in all I do hope we get to see her again in the next few versions to see what happens next
That...kinda defeats the point of her story arc though. She challenged the rule of the gods, questioned if they only grant great powers like vision to the notable few while ignore the hard work of the mass. If she then becomes the few, that will only cement the idea of one cannot succeed in Teyvat unless they are favored by the gods and receive vision.
I hope we'll meet her in the future as well! Although, with how Hoyo seems to like doing tragedies more so than happy endings, I shall hope that next time we see her, it will be in a heart-wrenching kind of quest (which seems a bit likely, so I'll prep tissues in advance). I wouldn't have called her a fool per se because I could actually relate to her desire of wanting to leave something behind/accomplish something she felt was significant with her life. Her character makes for an interesting comparison with some vision holders that kinda seem to not like their visions or they don't think much of their visions (someone like Keqing springs to mind because they kind of had similar vibes in that they wanted to prove the power of humanity in a sense). I'm quite hyped to see where her story ends.
I'm probably in a minority with this opinion and I get the theme and message etc of her story but by god is she annoying as hell. I got so unbelieveably frustrated and annoyed with her just never listening and throwing herself in danger without a single care that it took all enjoyment out of her quests. Especially when everyone else cared about her and wanted her safe and she just didn't listen at all and stubbornly carried on despite being seriously sick and injured.
Don't worry, I relate. I can't recall how many times I just wanted Traveler to just put their foot down and make her rest. It's understandable that she may be frustrated by her own limitations and eager to prove the world wrong, but charging in with woefully poor health does nothing but spell death!
@@karamecchi Oh same, I wished I got the option to get angry at her honestly. At this point the people won't remember her as a genius cartographer like she wanted but as an idiot who rushed headfirst into her demise because she couldn't sit down and rest
@@DecisiveTristar Yea, I don't think we were asking for too much in that regard. I mean, it's not like the Traveler became a famous adventurer in the span of a week (or month, heck by canon it's been a year+ at most) The Exploration Team was there at her side and they could have tackled the Chasm together. And she... leaves them behind. If we miraculously find her, I hope Traveler actually reprimands her, considering how her recklessness echoes Teppei's.
God she is so annoying. Last I left her was when she was retrieving the datas from the device we put, and she got attacked by those dogs that gives Corrosion (worst kind of debuf). I tried to save her with a sigh, only for me to die. I was revived then I saw the quest again, I whispered "nah you can rot away zhiqiong". She got herself in that position, now good luck getting away from it.
I would still love to see fanart of her as a playable character with a vision, would be dope but I don't think anybody will. Also I completely agree with 7:39, when people simplified Ayaka's and Raiden's story quests I seriously question if they paid attention.
I played this quest while doing the fortune slip quest but done the chasm first. I got ptsd from Zhiqiong quest and panic when that person was about to leave inazuma to explore the world. That was both a good and a bad timing.
Having read her letters, I understand her motive and her feelings but I can't sympathize with her. She is so stubborn and her actions are dragginf everyone around her. Besides, there are other ways to cement your achievement and actually making changes than jumping on a suicide mission that will lead you to dying and leaving nothing behind, making everyone eventually forgets about you. Most people who were rewarded with visions have reached their lowest point where they're barely hanging on a thread but they still strive and hold onto that sheer hope and prove their worth. So those people arent just born with visions and blessed by powers since birth in convenience, but they fought their way. Beidou slayed the sea monster before she received her vision right? This proves that with strong will and hard work, anyone without a vision can make such a great feat with long lasting impression. Though it is arguably harder. And really, to make amazing discoveries, she doesnt necessarily need to kill herself or be a vision bearer. Honestly? Rather than babysitting zhiqiong id rather see more perspective of that fatui girl than her. Zhiqiong is goddamn annoying. If only she werent so hard headed and short sighted
A lot of characters in Genshin have got a vision without much hardship Like Klee, Diluc, Kazuha, almost all the geo character, keqing, Yoimiya etc. None of these were struggling or were at lows when they got their vision Most of them didn't have to fight or something
@@AJ-jy6jq you were right! By the time ningguang received her vision, she was already a successful businesswoman. But nearly her entire life nothing but hardships before she could establish her position. This means that vision isnt necessary for someone to achieve great things in their life, just as vision isn't the measure of someone's worth in the eyes of the people and the gods like what Zhiqiong believed. There are unseen criterias that few vision holders may have met, which lead to your conclusion: SOME characters dont have to risk their life or bend themselves over in order to get vision. BUT from character stories we also know that the numbers of characters who received vusions after committing the unthinkable arent few. Kaeya literally had a duel that almost led him to his death with his brother. Ayaka won her first duel with her brother. You might think this isnt so special because she wasnt risking her life or anything that drastic, but Ayaka wasn't naturally gifted with the swords and poetries because she was rather carefree compared to her brother who had been prepared to take responsibility to a degree. So she wasnt as adept as her brother, which makes it harder and slower for her to grasp new things. Noelle tried SEVEN times in order to get into knights of favonius only to fail all over again. I bet this is not something any normal person would want to do over and over again, and at some point during her trainings or attempts, she must have felt she was at her lowest at least once. Its stated that her body doesnt even want to fight anymore. Beidou slayed a sea monster. Bennett and Kujou Sara were on the verge of dying fighting for their lives. Rosaria fought the people who raised her and killed them in order to live a better life. Razor watched his furry friends dying before him and tried to avenge them by killing the abyss mage The number of characters who fought hard for something they believed or for themselves during the time they received their visions arent exactly "few".
@@lizzyleea you have to reread my sentence, i didn't say that the one who received vision while fighting for Life were few. I said that most got there vision while not doing anything unique. You can literally count that more than half of characters have no tragic tale attached to them getting vision. Except a few that you mentioned nothing was super noteworthy which made them much different or unique than other. There are a lot of NPCs with worse stories and way more dedication than most of characters who got vision.
@@AJ-jy6jq like i said, there are hidden criterias that can lead to someone receiving vision. If everyone who simply "suffers" in teyvat all gets vision, then there will be a lot more vision holders than the ones we can count currently.
@@AJ-jy6jq and my point here in my main comment is not only about vision holders, but zhiqiong's skewed perspective against them. Wait nvm, its not here. Ill just copy my other comment. Tbh this topic isnt even that important, its just some npc in a game and it shouldnt be taken too seriously to discuss but i dont want ppl getting my points wrong about it so in case you want to read them, here is another take from me thats more thought out: i understand her sentimemt but her way of doing things just shows how stupid and short sighted she is. She has a whole team to back her exploration, her role is the cartographer, and if she actually utilized her team she could actuallu venture into the chasm and brought back a newfound knowledge safely, muning will surely appreciate her work and the team's work and she will be remembered as a part of the team who made a breakthrough in the chasm's exploration. The qixing will surely reward her contribution. But she doesnt have the patience to do that. She threw all the opportunities she could have and decided to venture all alone on a suicide mission that will not let her go down on history, even as far as leaving her map behind. How could she be making an achievement if she just disappeared on everyone? Also, its true that there is this unfairness in the distribution of vision, since there are cases like Klee who receives vision without having to do anything significant. But most of the cases of people who receive their vision, they received it after they were fighting for their life. So its safe to say that most of them didnt just get blessed by powers by convenience. Most of them had to prove their worth upon reaching the lowest point of their life. Most people would have given their life at that point, so it is not just something a commoner can do. And last but not least, she fails yo notice that vision isnt everything there is to a person's worth, which is pretty much her takeaway based on her letter. I think that's her biggest mistake. Stanley's soul was blessed by barbatos himself after his death, despite not having vision. That speaks a lot about his worth as an adventurer. Beidou also slayed the sea monster before she even received her vision, and that's what gained her respects from the people of Liyue, not the fact that she wields a vision. She wasnt chosen by the gods or favored, she literally earned her titles herself. Zhiqiong is like the complete opposite of Clitopho and especially Bennett. Bennett is a vision holder who yearns for a team to help him venture, but was left all alone due to his unlucky streaks. Does having a vision mean he is blessed by the gods? No, he was and is always cursed. That didnt change even after receiving his vision. It was the least thing the gods could bestow him to increase his survivability by a margin.
2.7 promotional theme is "Hidden Dreams in the Depths" Also Dainsleif quoting "But in the hidden corners where the God's Gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming." The quote alone might hinting Zhiqiong will either die achieving her dreams or live to tell the tale "Some say a few are chosen and the rest are dregs, But I say we humans have our humanities, *We* will defy this world with a power from beyond" It would be interesting if Zhiqiong's fate will led her to attain a power from the Abyss due to her past influence from being dipped in dark mud.. really hoping for a sequel of this world quest.
love her. my favourite npc right now. maybe sound weird but I always find her and talk to her in the chasm, even knowing that her words are always the same.
Hopefully I stumble upon her corpse at some point. I hated the character because she could have had her cake and eaten it, but she actively chose to be a pain in the ass and a constant liability. Never listens, always thinking she knows better and attempts things so monumentally out of her skill range (and fails) that something bad is bound to happen to her. Even mapping out the Chasm, WE did most of that work, not her. She just got sick, made terrible maps that no one could use and had us save her all the damn time. Maybe if she learned humility she would already have a vision.
Well, if she falls into the Abyss, there's a chance she will receive some way to grant her wish, 'to be remembered' or 'the capability to explore', like how Tartaglia was pulled to his master due to his strong desire to be able to fight. She certainly has the nigh-unshakable will for it. The Abyss itself is an enigma, honestly.
Regarding how the Abyss might affect Zhiqiong, the description of Thundering Pulse tells the story of Takamine the Mistsplitter, who found himself in the Abyss during the Cataclysm. When he resurfaced years later, he seems to have been so corrupted that his old love interest, Asase Hibiki, immediately struck him down with her arrows in what appears to be an act of deliverance.
Exploring the Chasm felt really alive with the explorers group and her following us. Too bad every character we meet seems to have a sad fate. Let's hope for the best.
I think it's because those same hardworking people may not share the same level of drive and ambition. Yes the world goes round from the hardwork of these people. But WHY do they do the work? I'm a teacher. And I can see the difficulty of my work. But as to why I work. I work to pay bills and get by in my life. Maybe I want to achieve something great. But Maybe I'm not as driven like others. This is the cruel reality when you reward those who climbed the peak. Compared to those who want to get by in life. Another thing to add, whose to say she isn't on the path to be worthy of one? The Vision holder's story is in the past. They had grown and encountered their own struggles. I don't think she's far off on that path. I believe she's heading that point but bot yet reached it yet.
There's a theory that says visions aren't really a good thing, they could be a monitoring device sent to people who celestia sees as a threat, people who are different from the herd. lisa for example is wary of them. U can read her story or listen to her voice lines
Out of all the characters Zhiqiong was my least favorite. Hell..I liked the hillichurls more. I was more invested in the Fatui than her. The Fatui were soldiers who were abandoned and desperate but still loved the homeland and their cause. I was so sad for them all..meanwhile Zhiqiong was an annoying menace we had to babysit and drag back to safety only for her to give us the finger and go back there again. And she's not even the one who had to fight or defeat anything.
Even Julie of the Gourmet Supremos is more likeable. I'd say she's practically Childe's future wife because she loves fighting and killing monsters. The joy of thinking of nothing else or any other worry but the fighting
Should She Receive a Vision?
Her character exists to show the difficulties of non-vision bearing mortals. So no, her getting a vision would defeat the purpose of her existence from a world building perspective.
No, she does not need one to become the greatest character.
Is she worthy of getting one? Yes.
yes please
Adventure maniac~
Imagine how cruel it'll be if Celestia does give her a vision to change her perspective on gods only for her to become a fatui harbinger to bring them down
Zhiqiong was one of my favorite npcs, Even if she was hard headed all she wanted was to prove to the people and the gods that she doesn't need a vision to be a great adventurer. I can only hope to see her again one day.
Would be funny if she gets one like Keqing.
Why do I have a feeling this is going to be a theme in Sumeru?
She resonates so much with me. Pursuing your dream even if you have no vision (talent, aptitude, etc.) is so not easy. Do the things you love, even if you aren't good at them and maybe never will be good at the.
sounds like keqing
maybe she didnt get a vision because the electro visions arent granted anymore?
I wish that we will find her in the future quests as well. Like maybe we'll find her in a Sumeru quest where some miners from Sumeru found her near the Chasm or something.

@@Justacuriouslady so the god have another reason to give a vision, isnt it ?
@@aliffaruq6954 that's my idea of what they think,it can differ from your perspective
@@rencharon3458 and i don't know if you've seen the manga but
allogenes(vision wielders) dont really 'ascend' like the tales that tells it does. a vision is basically a prison sentence because once an allogene dies and ascends, they get sent to this prison like structure where the gods can easily keep an eye on you
and to add onto this, the chinese for vision literally translates to "the eye of god", it's like celestia is planting cameras on possible threats to them
funfact! allogenes are also called genshins, hence the name genshin impact
Some said your wish have to be powerful enough for a vision to appear
An addendum:
She truly is a mirror of Bennett, but for all their identical faults, one thing that differentiated them is their circumstances.
Klee's Vision Story :
"Asking Klee how she obtained a Vision will probably get you nowhere - she doesn't know, either.
A natural-born pyromaniac, Klee had already been acknowledged by a Vision from a very young age"
Lol imagine pyromaniac girl got vision easily, not a hard worker adventurer.
If only she can see the perspectives from some other Vision bearers as well...
We have someone who can achieve great feats without a Vision (Beidou)
We have someone who doesn't care that much about having a Vision (Hu Tao)
We even have someone who is bitter instead of overjoyed upon getting a Vision (Ningguang)
There definitely are people who wishes to lead a great life without having a "superpower". There is no need for someone to recklessly throwing their life away, just to try to aim for unnaturally high goals, so that they can look equal to the Vision bearers.
Foolish girl... not idiotic, but foolish...

Zhiqiong searches answers for the regular mere humans like her

many of this quest also give impression of how life goes on in each nations and each of their life quality
I bet she'd be pyro because her personality is similar to the other pyro vision wielders (exept Diluc)
I think I’m gonna pull for Timmie, I heard he’s gud

Perhaps you forgot the most important part of her letter
"In ancient times when heroes and Yakshas fought alongside Rex Lapis, when colossal boulders were halved to form the mountains, when giant rocks were cast from the skies to create seabeds, what was the place of the mere mortals like us - whom the gods had neither noticed nor recognized? What are our mundane loves and hatreds, mundane happiness and tragedies, mundane achievements and accomplishments, mundane bonds and relationships... Are all these just something of no consequence in the eyes of the gods? Are ancient dwellings of the gods and those unfathomable scenes really far beyond the reach of commonplace human courage?"
Honkai also has Dr. Mei (different from regular Mei) asking similar questions, in her case it was "humanity's worth among the vast universe" (in this context, including the Imaginary Tree)
She also strives, as a normal human being, to find out 'how far she could go" to make a difference or find her worth in her deeds
Basically this is THE Mihoyo's theme, about where we humanity stand when there exist things "above" us or beyond our understanding
Something like Cthulhu Mythos, actually

Wow.. this truly opened my eyes to the whole meaning of vision bearers and importance of NPC's..
She's really just endangering people who care about her because she's too impatient and reckless.
there is some quality in zhiqiong that really quite relatable in persona, she is one of a kind
This remind me that I decide to use Electro traveler to beat Ei out of spite so I can fight like Teppei, the non-vision best man.
Zhiqiong and Teppei are the two NPCs that really make us question the process in which the Archons grant visions.
well arent some of the resistance soldiers some that have lost their vision
Thanks for letting me know about the letter, probably wouldn't have found it for a long time without this video. I've been wondering what happened to her, but I'll hope for the best.
Zhiqiong is one of my favorite npc by now. Her story feels so relatable. Her quest made me feel so down, not crying like Ruu's or Kazari's one but still made me sad for weeks.
I rank her story as high as Kazari and Ruu now.
IDK if anybody have brought this but, in the quest when you tasked to ring two bells, I think it's a refrence to dark souls 1.
NO
There's no way I'm letting her die
Even if I solo that ruin serpent with a level 1 traveler with a level 20 dull blade to save her I'll DO IT. She's one of the best NPCs!!
A little exaggerated
@@ichao354 Well it's my opinion
I dislike her character but I think she's pretty well written and her motive is understandable
eh, the Traveller could take on Signora w/ dull blade, I don't think you'll have too many problems lol
Fun fact in an recent event, I think one of 3.8's mini event, she was mentioned again, which means mihoyo haven't forgotten her
Thank you so much for making theese videos, Cat with Blue Hat. I barely have the time to understand what's going on on the story chapters as I play them, so this really helps me understand the plot and the world much better.
The logic of visions are really interesting mostly the methods of how characters get get them some get them through breakthroughs, some from the brink of death, others just get one and could careless(Albedo) it's just interesting
and some even more careless didn't itto get his vision by sleeping???
This video was very helpful, I totally missed the end part of that quest!!!
Have a great day.
waits thats a minority im the same Lol well im shocked
she reminds me so much of the mc of made in abyss that i can't help but get annoyed. she was working in a team but only thinks of her dream. in the end she did decide to travel alone, she did the right thing if she wanna insist on her ways.
Riko...
(Sorry for the long text)
If I may, this sort of question was once played out in Liyue's region if you hunt those special treasure vault things (the ones that are a plate on the floor with energy flowing out of it)
In it, we follow the story of two individuals with similar goals: "to be able to defeat monsters because they are evil and a threat".
And as it seems, all visions have a reason to appear on specific people: Anemo on people who value Freedom the most, Geo for people who understand the value and honour of a deal or contract, Dendro for people who view and understand the world and become wiser for it and etc.. perhaps Zhiqiong's closer to understanding herself and gaining hers... but also being so close to the Abyss that seems to toy on the ambitions of others as hinted when you ascend its floors... who's to say she will understand it if she further descends and not be warped by it?
i hope we get to meet Zhiqiong again. She was a good NPC and unlike the others was not annoying
I just re-discovered your channel and now I'm watching all your videos!
All these topics you describe and explain are so interesting to watch and understand
i dont think you used the right word
The Dain quote really highlights it, I think, that ultimately she wishes she weren't just a human, because in her mind, for all that we can clearly see people thriving, it's just not worth anything to her
Like I said, I think the questions in her letter are fascinating to ruminate on, they don't justify the actions she herself is taking.
She's taking unnecessary risks in the name of adventure, when damage mitigation is both easy and available, and that frustrates me to no end.
I kind of hope she does wind up in the abyss, and that learns from her mistakes. It's only appropriate.
another example is walking threw a minefield Filled with em
or seeing if your toaster is on by stabbing a fork or knife in it
playing russian roulete with a roman candle?
3:02 Cue to enter the Tzaritsa Music, perfect.
• explanation for us to show how a mere human can shift to the "dark side" and embrace the Abyss
• paragon of "mortals" non violent freedom : she display her singularity by helping others and building something by herself rather than destroying.
but I can't believe she's dead and/or not to be seen in the futur.
I even think Sara would make a better Shogun, a leader of Inazuma, than Ei since unlike her,
Sara has the knowhow to deal with a government and the humility of a normal being(Sara, despiote her militaristic tones, is extremely reasonable, looking at how she treated Xinyan before the end of Sakoku Decree and how she treated Kokomi in her story quest, accepting almost all of Watatsumi's demands but one which would mean a defacto emancipation of the region, something she has no authority to grant, only Raiden Shogun does).

These kind of world quests really need to be voiced.I really enjoyed exploring the chasm all the while also doing the world quests with Zhiqiong.
Give her a fucking vision, Celestial
I loved Zhiqong's storyline so far but I think a reason a lot of people hated it is because you physically couldn't do the dainslief quest without not only opening the underground area in the chasm but also continuing the chasm delver's quest which was super annoying when all a lot of people, including myself, wanted to get to the actual archon quest and had to sit through extra dialogue/tasks. I wish it was separate from the dainslief quest and not a requirement, if I did it on my own time I probably would've enjoyed her and the quest itself much more. But all in all I do hope we get to see her again in the next few versions to see what happens next
Throughout the quest I felt she deserves a Vision. And I hope next time we see her, she'll become a vision bearer
I applauded her mindset and dream. But man, I dislike her and found her annoying until the end despite knowing what drove her like that.
I love your insights, thank you for sharing them!
I mean, it's not like the Traveler became a famous adventurer in the span of a week (or month, heck by canon it's been a year+ at most)
The Exploration Team was there at her side and they could have tackled the Chasm together. And she... leaves them behind. If we miraculously find her, I hope Traveler actually reprimands her, considering how her recklessness echoes Teppei's.
I felt the same her questlines and Salt god questline is one of time where i really want Traveler more harsh to NPC by using the viewer knowledge.
Her letter was very hardcore, I hope she's under the care of Dainsleif.
;-;
Enjou being chad and teach her power from beyond.
A lot of characters in Genshin have got a vision without much hardship
Like Klee, Diluc, Kazuha, almost all the geo character, keqing, Yoimiya etc.
None of these were struggling or were at lows when they got their vision
Most of them didn't have to fight or something
Razor watched his furry friends dying before him and tried to avenge them by killing the abyss mage
The number of characters who fought hard for something they believed or for themselves during the time they received their visions arent exactly "few".
Tbh this topic isnt even that important, its just some npc in a game and it shouldnt be taken too seriously to discuss but i dont want ppl getting my points wrong about it so in case you want to read them, here is another take from me thats more thought out:
i understand her sentimemt but her way of doing things just shows how stupid and short sighted she is.
It was the least thing the gods could bestow him to increase his survivability by a margin.
i hope we get to see her soon, i literally cried reading that whole letter.
maybe she will come out in the blackcliff sword mines or whatever its called

2.7 promotional theme is "Hidden Dreams in the Depths"
Also Dainsleif quoting "But in the hidden corners where the God's Gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming."
The quote alone might hinting Zhiqiong will either die achieving her dreams or live to tell the tale
"Some say a few are chosen and the rest are dregs, But I say we humans have our humanities, *We* will defy this world with a power from beyond"
It would be interesting if Zhiqiong's fate will led her to attain a power from the Abyss due to her past influence from being dipped in dark mud.. really hoping for a sequel of this world quest.
and ironically, she gets her inspiration for adventuring from stanley, which is well you know 😐
Ya...
love her. my favourite npc right now. maybe sound weird but I always find her and talk to her in the chasm, even knowing that her words are always the same.
Someone give this girl a rest. Like man, she deserved all of the recognition. What a passionate woman
lmao i doubt she would take a rest tho
I started to get teary eyed when I read her letter...
What the hell. I always discover something new to explore because of this channel. Later, I am going to open up Genshin and find that letter.
Why are mysterious people always cute. smh
I love her.
If she ended up like Enjou, I’ll not yEET
what happened to enjou
Exploring the Chasm felt really alive with the explorers group and her following us. Too bad every character we meet seems to have a sad fate. Let's hope for the best.
Zhiqiong's letter made me realize that why hardworking ordinary people can't get a blessings of the gods despite their efforts and sacrifices
U can read her story or listen to her voice lines
even the NPC story in this game is amazing
Who knows maybe her will and determination to explore the chasm would be rewarded with a vision then she'll be a playable.
