In the rematch against Mollusque-Lanceur, the reason that Mario is able to use the Gushen without refilling at the shallow pond is that the area is always raining. This is quite interesting as the Gushen would be considered a sea creature and lives in salt water, while rain is fresh water that does not contain salt. Of course if Gushens can adapted to both salt and fresh water.
The fact that they included a native mechanic for jumping into paintings gives me impossibly high hopes for modding potential in this engine. Basically what I'm trying to say is, modders: Mario 64 Remake Mod when?

For example, outside the knucklotec tower are some sand kingdom residents, you have to pluck things out to access the ruined dragon fight, and for the octopus boss the pipe is underwater so I guess that's a hint?

This makes the rematch easier than the original since you don't have to worry about running out of water while spraying.
