@James098. Hi James, hope that you are keeping well. It will be very marginal for us, I think that its very important that we get the 2m temperature below freezing point before the precipitation arrives, maybe then the upper air temperature might not count as much. But we shall see. Fingers crossed 🤞. I have a gut feeling that low will track a little further south, but not by much.
Very strange some of the southern tracked solutions have no snow for central ireland but the slightly more northerly ones like the gfs show loads of snow
Interesting contrast on the BBC tonight for those of us in the West Midlands - main forecast on the 6 o'clock news = no snow, our local forecast = disruptive snow!
@@BlackRose-vi2ygthat’s the predicted temperature, temperature on the day can be around 3-7c even in parts of the south on Sunday. A slight shift south will make a big difference in temperature forecast, models try to predict the exact track but Mother Nature has the last say.
All is not completely lost for us in the southwest hills in the latest set of model output i see, its already bitterly cold here with temps below freezing at 7pm here, i see on a couple of model runs that the rain & snow clears thru from the southwest before it turns back to rain on some of the latest runs, so we may just scrape in with a covering that lasts so long as that warm air scarpers as fast as it arrived, of course it could just absolutely bucket down with freezing rain is the other possibility if the low comes in fast.
Up here in the north east of Scotland and there’s already a covering of snow and more to come, I think the ground will become extremely cold by the end of the week into next week.
Excellent update Gav, thanks very much for it. The prospect of freezing rain is a bit concerning. I wonder if ice might be a hazard in England and Wales from later on Sunday as that warm sector is swept away to the east and we're back into the cold northerlies.
Cannot see the freezing rain amounting to much. It is not really a phenomenon that affects the UK, especially south of the Pennines. Monday in the Midlands is forecast as 5°C, so certainly not ice weather. But it all depends on where people are.
Great as always thank you. Who has been your favorite weather man over the years ? Ian Mackskill ? I liked that Daniel guy who when we had the December to remember would talk about grappling with winter coats and topping up the thermos!
Great update as always Gavin up to now looks like I could get some in Wirral near Liverpool north west England but as ever could change. One to watch though.
I don't understand why some models give rain for northern ireland, we are more northern than some areas that are predicting snow
Was thinking that also. Maybe dew points will be too high?
I am not sure.
@@bmac5085correct, the uppers are little above the -5 iso so some places can expect freezing rain from this to.

Thanks Gav - wherever you live in the UK it is a great time to be a weather fan!
And indeed some of us technically not in the UK (Isle of Man)!
There were a few flakes of snow about 15 minutes ago in Belfast.

I thought exactly the same....it'll rain.
God will bless UK with snow
Hope the low pressure gets farther south!!!!!
it wont mate
why?
Use the force🤣🤣
It's going to be an exciting weekend. Buckle up. 😂
Not for the far south
@briancox8518 you never know, that low might not move as far north as thought. It can happen.
@russellthechemist8291 What? It's going to be 12°C on Sunday down south. I've never seen it snow at 12°C.

Agreed - it looks like the southwest hills could get a few hours of snow on Saturday - might bring a covering!
I'm in the the rep of Ireland, in the north east, its looking good for snow I think
Great snow watch Gav. I'll be happy with a couple of inches this weekend. 👌
👀👀👀
That's what she said

I’m looking forward to the plus twenty isotherm Gav 😁

I was waiting for a live feed 😅
This country is so finicky
yes
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Turning to rain in the East Midlands by early hours of the morning
I'm not getting excited about this for the Midlands. It's nearly always the ECM that verifies.
Cold zonality strikes again!
Like where is Oxford as il have to work i like Ur forecast better than tv
I live in the Oxford area. Looks like on Saturday it will snow for a few hours either in the late afternoon or evening, and then turn to rain.
Here we go
Sorry gav but it just rubs salt into the wound
Great update as always Gavin up to now looks like I could get some in Wirral near Liverpool north west England but as ever could change. One to watch though.
Why does rain always have to ruin it 😢
None for us in the far south again .😢
It's going to be 8°C to 12°C on Sunday in the south. So it will all be slush anyway.
Amber warning incoming
No Plymouth,no party 😢
Come on dearest Low Pressure, please track a little further South enabling a “ deluge” in Cannock…🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
It doesn’t look like I’m going to get any, in the NE Eng, on the Northumberland coast booo 🤦🏼♀️❄️☃️
Bet you've had more than me on the Isle of Wight over the last 20 years!
@ probably but you get better summers than me so we have a trade off 😂
well that never happend
Apparently burton on Trent have got 12 to 20 cm
Am I going to be up all night Saturday lol
Arpege was the only accurate model for the snow event Worcester had back in November...fingers crossed it's correct again.
BBC say 20cm to 40cm
Maybe in Scotland
@BlackRose-vi2yg northern Ireland and Ireland northern England to Scotland they was talking about Saturday
@benenty692 Certainly could happen in those places.
