I’ve used mine both as a table Mike and as a potential aid about 8 months ago. I wasn’t impressed with it as a hearing aid. Great info. Love your presentation style! Very natural all around. 😊
Everyone keeps telling us how they can function as an OTC hearing aid, but no one I have seen has tested and reviewed them in real life to explain how well they work. I have difficulty just setting them up to test for myself using Mimi so I have been waiting for the official release. I would be interested in hearing how they work for you. Great video by the way, thank you!
Thank you for the feedback!! I need to get a pair. For those that have them it sounds like they need the next iOS 18 update for it to work. It isn’t available yet.
I don’t think that feature has actually been unlocked yet. Waiting for the next software update which is supposed to be coming soon, then I guess many reviews will be available.
excelente presentación, yo tambien uso aparatos auditivos Phonak, igual con bluetooth. Pero me pareció genial esto lo del iphone con airpod pro. Te felicito, tienes excelente pronunciación en ingles :).
I’ve used them that way for about a year or so until I bought replacement hearing aids. My hearing loss requires real hearing aids to resolve but the AirPods Pro 2 aren’t bad…they’ll do in a pinch but their battery life could use a boost.
Apple Hearing won't be available on AirPods Pro 2 until the (non-beta) iOS 18.1 release. I guess that should happen sometime in October. I am looking forward to trying it when it's available! I wonder about how the AirPods Pro 2 will fit my ears but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to wear them.
Can you definitely verify that? I got mine only yesterday and your announcement above might explain why I’m getting nowhere with the Mimi application. Six times I’ve done the hearing test and at the very end they decide it can’t be commuted! Extremely frustrating. In the end I’ve had to use Apple’s extremely basic version (you’re given a choice in the drop down menu). At least I can now use my pods as a hearing aid device 😊
I’m in the process of purchasing phonak latest AI HA’s. Paying big bucks for them. I use AirPods Pro 2 all the time for phone calls and TH-cam activities. They work great. I’m glad to see Apple stepping up their game. I think the big hearing aid companies won’t like them and don’t want any competition in their space. I think there’s plenty of room for both products.
I have moderate to severe loss and use Phonak Paradise HA’s. But when I want to listen to music with active noise cancellation, I use Airpods Pro 2’s, which I really enjoy. Apple has made it possible for a long while to program your audiogram into them, which I have done. This improves the music greatly. It also works fairly well with speech when not in noise cancellation mode, though not nearly as well, of course, as the Phonaks; there is more occlusion and the Airpods seem to lack the ability to boost the higher frequencies quite as much as I need (especially in my right ear, which is the severe one). But it does help I’m very interested to seeing what these additional advancements Apple is doing will be like, and would love to hear further comments from you on what you think of the Airpods. (Yes, I’m an Apple person, too.) Thanks for the video!
@@DefiniteHearingYes, can be done in the iPhone Accessibility settings, though it’s a little fiddly to get to. It can be imported as a pdf (or image, I forget which), or manually.
They didn’t say anything about additional advances in the firmware or software. They simply said that they finally obtained FDA approval, and that they have a hearing exam embedded in their software. No mention of their hearing aid functions improving, as far as I know. I would love for them to improve. Maybe AirPods Pro 3?
@@BobbieGWhiz Yes, it may be mainly just the hearing test and FDA approval. I know the firmware has been updated in the last day or two. Apple doesn't say what it includes, but some tech commentators believe it probably has to do with getting ready for the hearing features-so maybe there will be some performance improvements as well.
I have not worn my AirPods Pros more than a couple hours at a time, but I don’t find them painful to wear and the sound quality is amazingly good. The AirPods Pro 2 comes with 4 sets of different size tips/domes for your ear canal and I found my right and left ear canals need different size tips/domes to reproduce the sound the best. Perhaps selecting a differ size tips/domes would help keeping the AirPods in your ears.
I have the AirPods Pro 2 ear buds. I also normally wear Starkey Evolv 2400 HAs. I got the AirPods because they can easily isolate sound on my iPhone, iPad & Apple TV from the surrounding area. As we live much of the year in an RV, this comes in handy. The AirPod Pro 2 units are designed for mild to moderate hearing loss. My top end marks 9n my audiogram are in the severe range. I am looking forward to the firmware upgrade to really test the HA function, but from my current experience, I believe I am outside their fitting range.
Very good presentation! I am using AirPod Pro 2 gen as an OTC and I'm very happy with it!!! Hit me back and I'll go into more details. I not good at writing long letters😁
@@DefiniteHearing my hearing is mild. My problem was hearing everything. Air conditioning, heater, birds, traffic, and road noise. Imagine an officer pulling you over and you can't understand what he's saying. When I used my AirPod Pro, without ANC, I was able to lower the air conditioner enough to hear the television! And the transparency allowed me to listen to music while walking and still hear my surroundings enough to hear a small dog coming up to me from behind. I have the Jabra Enhanced OTC that I used but it couldn't help with background sounds and I couldn't use them on phone calls and be heard by callers.
@@rwfthesr so how do you set them up? I’ve loaded the Mimi audio gram and music sounds great, but I can’t tell I am getting any help hearing conversations from low volume voices. For example, are you setting it on transparency with the gain all the way up to use as a hearing aid or what setting should I use?
My OTC hearing aids are fairly awful, and I would be interested in trying out the Apple ones.
I’m excited to try them too! What do you think you’ll like best??

I’m debating getting a pair but don’t see myself wearing them long term… do you think I could get them try them then give them away?
Would love to see your feedback on actual use of these Apple AirPods
I just need to buy them!!
I’d be interested in your thoughts! This is really neat! I didn’t know this was coming out.
Ooohhh then I need to get a pair!
Great video - thank you..
Glad you enjoyed it

My hearing aids allow me to hear my music through Bluetooth on my iPhone. Best hearing aids I’ve ever had! Never been keen on the apple air pods!
My hearing aids do that too!! I’m so glad you love it. It really is the besttttt!!

No mater how well they function, the fact that they can be painful to wear and can fall out of your ears will be a problem.
Yes! Physical comfort is KEY!
indeed

That’s good to know you feel like you’re outside the fitting range. I’ll definitely be pushing it 😬
I can’t keep Apple earbuds in my ears. The silicone on them gets warm and softens and they fall out.
That’s ok! If you want over the ear headphones, I LOVE the Skullcandy Venues ❤️
