Life inside the colony - Colobopsis truncata (former Camponotus truncatus)

- Hey all, after all the time I spent outside of TH-cam I'm back with a new video I recorded and assembled earlier today. Let's take a look at this short video presenting my C. truncata colony - I've bought the queen somewhere around May last year. She came with one worker and a pupae, even though I did not expect them. I had a lot of issues with them till November 2019, but from 2-3 months it all goes smoothly. Hope it will stay this way, fingers crossed!

Po długiej nieobecności na YT i korzystając z świątecznej kwarantanny nagrałam i złożyłam dziś krótką prezentację mojej kolonii C. truncata. Królową nabyłam gdzieś w maju zeszłego roku i przyszła z gratisową robotnica i poczwarką. Miałam z nimi sporo problemów do listopada 2019. Od tamtej pory sytuacja jednak się stale poprawia i jak widać, śmigają aż miło. Mam nadzieję, że tak już zostanie!

Amazing man ! I caught a Colobopsis truncata queen my self . Can you give me some instructions for her ?
Hey, sorry for the late response! I had some troubles with the queen at the beginning. It occurred that the key for them developing correctly is to warm them up. It's about 22-24*C average where I live, so I suppose they need a 2-4*C more.
It's a very shy species, so it is good to keep them somewhere calm and shady. Other than that, they have no issues with eating honey, mealworms or cocroaches. Good luck!
@@margarettaization thanks a lot . Queen hasnt laid yet but i will control her on the end of the month so i will see if she progressed . She is in warm enviroment too . Also i put some cork in her test tube .
@@margarettaization This species is known to be thermophilic, meaning that they love extreme heat. My guess is that they "cook" in the little chambers they carve in wood as it gets hit by the sun. They are also, going off of antmaps.org, far more common in Northern Africa/Spain than anywhere else, another indicator that they love heat. You could *probably* heat them to 30C or higher and they'd do great. Maybe even higher than that.
Anyways, thought I'd share what little info I know about this species with you. You are one of the few people that seems to have truly kept them successfully though, so clearly you're doing something right. Great vid!

Jakiej wielkości jest Q a jakie w
Dokłądnych wymiarów z miarką nie podam, ale myślę, że Q jest zbliżona wielkością (nie maśą) do Tetramorium, w są nieiwlkie, jak na razie nanitic wyglądają tak jak nanitic nigerki
