I hate that about the replay system. Most games (or every game? not sure), the replay has me on the red team. Personally, I would prefer it if they made whoever I was spectating be blue team, regardless which actual team they're on.

Congrats you found the one (?) exception! It's still good advice. If I had a nickel for every bronze hitscan who chewed me as Reinhardt because I won't step away from my corner to give them shield in the middle of a courtyard...
Very cool guide, following these tips i've went 9-0 since just following simple staying near or behind cover. The biggest takeaway was how often i went out in the open. It started making me notice how often the other team did this and how we would overwhelm them. edit: am now 16-0 since.
I’m tragically hard stuck low elo, and I’ve watched so many videos on how to climb and I’d think to myself “I’m doing all these things why do I still lose”. But this video was the first that I’ve actually thought, “wait a minute I just got called out” or “wow I could genuinely improve there” hopefully now I can win games :)
Natural cover is why Mei is so strong imo. Not even just now, but as a character as a whole. The shield is the closest version of it. They lose track of you, and you have a chance to "ninja vanish". I wish there was a smoke character to make the most perfect team I want to make. XD
Finally a positioning guide! I’m in high plat right now and I want to reach diamond and I think I should improve my positioning especially because I’m a support main and I tend do make some mistakes with my positioning. I hope these tips can help me reach diamond and beyond
Thanks for this. After getting thrashed today in QP by some grandmaster players, it has me reevaluating my skills quite heavily. I have to remember to use natural cover and get better positioning
Good video - Breaking it down into a few basic rules to follow is the single most reliable way to teach something. It's in a format people can actually remember, understand and apply.
I love the chess game of Overwatch. I feel so smart when I do things like take effective or aggressive positioning because I actually had a plan and made a play! I love your videos and the game leap library. They really make me want to play the game and it feels great using what I’ve learned. I feel like the game is slowing down, and now I’m beginning to understand how hi ranked players and pros can do things like play those super frantic and mobile heroes.
About the natural cover tip, I like using a and d to move instead of w and or s for my strafing when peeking and rotating in/out of cover, makes it a little easier to go back and forth without accidently hitting a wall because you accidently took one step forward instead of sideways
Sigma actually works pretty good against the high ground, since you have that splash damage and making most DPS chars get scared when you put in some damage, so either they run and back off from your team or that bit of damage makes it a bit easier to kill that dps
as lucio i have difficulty to not be agressive, but too often a get punish for it due to my Positioning. you made me realize the power of natural cover, but do you have any other tip for this unique caracter so i can survive longer?
i only count 5 points there.... however there are many good points u made! some things i would consider rotation or pathing, but if u put that together its fine imo u should try to make a point ranking or importance ranking for positioning like u did after the first add: u have natural cover = +10pts u are in effective range = +10pts u are efficient against the enemy rotation/position = +10pts u have a healthpack near u = +5pts u have LOS to ur healers = +5pts u have peel near u = +5pts and so on, i think u get the point i once coached an ana player only on nepal about rotation and positioning (i knew the comps they were playing) and it took me over 2hrs to make it understandable, so its a good attempt to make that a bit shorter
You're definitely right that at low levels people over rely on barriers for cover, but I don't think it's fair to say that a part of why it's bad is because you can't trust your tank to communicate what's going on with the barrier. The tank should be communicating that stuff all the time and the team should be playing around both the barrier and natural cover. You should do a video about team work. Like, actual working together to get a job done type of teamwork. Everyone does videos for single players and that's fine, but no one is playing this game alone unless you're specifically doing 1v1. I just think some synergy videos and basic play videos might help a lot of newer players.
I love using the payload as cover. There was one time on Hollywood where the attacking D.Va threw her bomb and I just crouched behind the payload as Lucio. She ended up wiping everyone except me and I stalled on the point for a good ten seconds before wall riding away to reset with my team. I felt bad though cause she got play and you just see me vibing while she would have got a team kill 💀

I want to See or even be in a overwatch match where the team has the perfect position around a point highground lowground Long range close range mid range everything surrounding the enemies. Impossible but would be cool to See
Becareful when you go agressive mode, you might be on a 6x3 chasing a loner back to spawn . If youre not careful as of timing the correct time to push and back off your team can easily be defeated by a combo of 2-3 ults which could allow them yo stay alive just enough until the rest of the team joins the fight and wipes your team
someone put a 'natural cover' counter 99% of the words is natural cover, because natural cover is the best then a shield so natural cover will natural cover you so you be safe on the natural cover, cuz natural cover. natural cover, is the cover tha's natural cover
More then likely, one of a couple key things wrong with your position. 1. Playing into a comp that can quickly close the gap between you and them. If this happens and you yourself dont have the mobility to out rotate the enemy teams aggressive dives. Then play more grouped up or position so you get assistance or peeling. A widow alone Away from her team might give that widow an aggressive angle for some early opportunities to get a pick but can just as easily be dived by a ball, genji or even a cocky lucio. 2. You are making yourself a bigger target the you need to be, playing of the scenario of a widow going for an early ki before a teamfight starts(a pick). You as the widow dont need to position all the way at the front of the highground yes this gives you a better sightline on the enemy especially the ones closer or below the position but it also increases the % of your characters hitbox that they can see and as a result aim for and potentially hit. Standing further back from the ledge makes potentially up to your characters head only hidden from view and allows you complete cover with the simple act of taking one step back. after all you only need to see their head to confirm a pick not their toes. 3. The enemy team is better equiped for the goal you are trying to accomplish, widow in all of these examples is unmatched in converting sightlines onto enemies into kills. But imagine a scenario where instead of a widow you play as an ashe. Both characters have the kit to confirm kills at range but when facing an enemy hanzo or widow as ashe you are at a disadvantage no matter how much better you are. Eventually you will die simply cause they only need to get lucky once. This gets more apparent the weaker the character is at range in this example. but the same ashe has alternative playstyles avaliable to her that widow doesn't she can position safety and build ult charge using her dynamite using bob and dynamites ability to do consistant damage over shield to win fights. A cassidy can focus on helping their rein win the shield war by focusing on fan the hammering the enemys shield and setting up your own tanks for plays using flashbang. Or providing peeling for your moira against an enemy tracer. And there are many more reasons why you might be using high ground with the right intentions during the wrong time or situation. Only way to really figure this stuff out is to play more and look objectively at your positions after a game using the replay viewer.
*Technical comment* When you speak into a mic move like a couple inches back from the mic cuz hearing all the plosives more than the words you're saying isn't ideal.
