    I own these best horns speakers by far, super smooth and they image very well despite the show condition you sat in.

    Jay, I have noticed many times that whenever you zoom in the image, the sound also gets louder, almost to the point of distorting. Is this a function of your camera?

    Anyone who spends more than 30k on a system needs to have the right room. Now this room matches the equipment. No way you get that soundstage in a small room.

      As to having the right room, yes. As to size of the room, I thought so too until I custom built a listening room ala J. Gordon Holt's recommendation or maybe just a supposition as to building active carbon filtering system in the wall as bass traps. Well, my room has excellent acoustical properties (see Agon. for the construction). It's not perfect but it is so much better than my prior 3X size room (25X23X11.5) that was very strong but lacked the acoustic design of my current room. My system retail is over $200K and the room cost $150K in 2019 (20X15X10 interior dimensions/add 16" more to all walls and 12" to the solid foundation). I am greatly benefitting. My wife thought I would miss the larger sound of the prior room. No, it is shockingly good. I'm not seeking perfection, but I now have adequately good high quality sonics to go with my rather large music collection (55K+ LPs/CDs/78s/R2R).

      P.S. My Von Schweikert VR9 SE MK2 upgraded sounds great in my average room size and can sound as good in a quite large room, probably 30 X 20 X 14.

    • @TimbreDynamics
      @TimbreDynamics 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stephenfleschler9682 you can get close in a smaller room, but not quite this expansive. I too have a medium size room and great soundstage, but the overall depth and dimension will be affected by the room size.

    • @stephenfleschler9682
      @stephenfleschler9682 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TimbreDynamics Okay, for opera and orchestral. I still have superior sound to 98% of listeners/collectors regardless of their room dimensions. For most Jazz, vocals and small instrumentals-I'm not missing anything unless the recording is drenched in reverb making it sound huge, not the sound I prefer.

    It's not bad. A tad unusual. How much are they? The electronics are cool. Very languid sounding. Ethereal.

    I think they're placed too far from the front wall and all this "cave" behind them, despite the treatment, gives a strange soundstage. Effortless and delicate sound though, easy to listen to and enjoy, despite the room effect.

    Those speakers fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

    As a 50+ year amateur musician, lifetime listener and part-time recording engineer, based on this video, these are not going to appeal to me. Putting oneself into the music but not into the performance venue just is not my cup of tea. I want imaging, recreation of the musical event (typically on-stage or a stage, live or studio). Von Schweikert Ultra speakers do that for me. The Cerat appears to have great dispersion which I also desire but how about imaging and dispersion? VS can do it, Cerat apparently cannot after viewing half a dozen videos.
    Also, the comment is made that moving one's head shifts the mid-range tonality, yuk to that. I've had stats that did that, my wife made me sell ML Monolith IIIs (1 of 3 reasons) and go back to dynamic speakers.
    Thank you Jay for your honest opinion!

      In person and in the room they imaged very well indeed , what these transducers pull of is the same as listening to a live performance one can focus on the imaging of various elements and instruments / vocals and then simply switch the analytical section of ones brain off and luxuriate in the soundstage and performance a s a whole , exactly like going to live concert performance .
