Soul singing, she talks to angels, thorn in my pride, sister luck, cursed diamond, high head blues, nonfiction, downtown money waster, girl from a pawnshop, how much for your wings, wounded bird, locust street, last place that love lives, magic rooster blues, cold boy smile, darling of the underground press, and many many many more are prime examples of what makes the black crowes one of the best and most under-rated, bands of all time.

Hell, even "Amorica" album was "parr-ful stuff."
Being an Atlanta-native, I recall that they were respected, but considered 2nd-seat to the band Drivin-n-Cryin. It took "Moneymaker" and seeing how TBC being fully-appreciated by other people to get them their well-earned due at home. A bunch of folks hated that the regionally-anointed modern Southern Rock darlings, Drivin-N-Cryin, never broke huge, and a vocal set of music fans directly blamed The Crowes, and then pitifully blamed Nirvana (in terms of timing) and then alienated an already long-moved-away REM (in terms of "legacy to live up to") Was...Just rough for TBC at home. Both were amazing concerts for me, a High School-aged miscreant. At half-a-century old now, I'd give far too much to see either THC or DnC again...

The Black Crowes came out of the 1990s with a sound out of the early 1970s. They wear their influences on their sleeves, but their albums are arguably as good or better than those by the bands who influenced them. You can almost pick any song at random off their first 5 or 6 albums and get a great track. Remedy, She Talks to Angel's, Hard to Handle, By Your Side, Hotel Illness, Jealous Again. Too many to list. Great rock from some Atlanta boys.

You’re exactly correct about the resemblance between this song and the Wonder Years song, written and performed by Joe Cocker. The singer said in an interview one time that Joe’s style and sound was a heavy influence on him growing up.

My all-time favorite Black Crows song. You can feel the pain and bitterness dripping out like angry tears. A gut punch of betrayal.
