Your videos are always like an update from a good friend. As a fellow plant procrastinator, watching you be so productive and get so much done left me incredible satisfied but also a little guilty for my own children 😂💜🌿
Your husband is very helpful and patient . He loves plants too. Moving their sounds like it is pests in that problems before building homes in the area. I hope everything works out for your family .
Hey, just wanted to say thank you for all the information about pesticides! It's such an important topic and way too many people use them lightly, so I really appreciate your work there! :)
Hey Kaitlyn, so sorry to hear the issues you have with your environment. You are not living in the humid city anymore , what a difference in microclimates 😂😂😂. We recently switched to organic options. We released over 1000 predatory soil and leave mites and additionally lacewing larva . This combi covers the eggs and larvae stages in the soil and the young stages of spider mites, thrips, mealys etc on the leaves. Was already bitten by our little lacewing helpers 😂😂😂. Now we can watch nature do its thing and soon we will raise our own soil and leaf mites . It now feels like a magical living and breathing forest in here that can actually also help to get some nutrients into the soil with their poop 😂😂😂❤❤😂. Much love from the Black Forest 🏕
Wow that’s amazing!! I have a psychological barrier when it comes to applying beneficial insects inside😅 But this inspires me, thanks for sharing Matt 😊 I hope to be able to release predatory mites and lacewings someday but I can’t describe how much it freaks me out!! It’s silly because I have bugs inside already anyhow lol but I hope to get there someday. Thanks for watching and supporting as always 💜 have a great week☺️✨🌱
I really appreciate how much research you did on the pesticides and that you took into account the larger impact they can have. I don't usually see anyone in this hobby having discussions around what exactly it is we're using to treat our plants and the science behind them so I found your findings really interesting! Also I'm absolutely in love with all the fun decor in your bathroom, it's making me want to make a reptile-themed room of my own now!
thanks so much for saying this! 💞💜🌿 I think there are a lot of unknowns around pesticide effects unfortunately, so it’s hard to find easily digestible info about them that doesn’t oversimplify. I’m glad people are used to me ranting so I can go on about it haha! thanks for expressing your interest 😊💜
also good luck and fun on the reptile decor hunt if you decide to do that, i had to keep myself in check when ordering because it turns out there’s a lot of cool reptile stuff out there!!🐊😄✨

It’s so good to see your videos again! At the very end of March, we had a home flood situation of our own! A pipe burst in our kitchen and was spraying water inside the wall, which pooled at the subfloor and caused it to rot. Our kitchen was finished last week, things are finally getting back to normal 😅
Love your videos. I always find them entertaining. I'm in Florida and we are dealing with spider mites too. I tried ladybugs and they worked for a short period of time. Omg I’m dealing with spider mites AND thrips 😭🤬. Everyday I find another infested plant. Time to treat with a more serious form of pesticide other than neem oil. ( which has Always worked in the past for me)
Where I live in England gets seasonal thrips covering the outside of the house (and the inside if you leave a window open) and they're really gross but on the bright side whatever type they are don't fancy houseplants so they're safe lol I never remember what type of thrip they are but I hate them all the same. Commented then, but wanted to say again that your house is looking amazing! I hope you’re getting some more respite by now? Sending big love from the UK .
It´s really bad when the whole neighborhood are having spiermites 🙈 In Sweden from what I´ve read online there are much more thrips this year than the years before😑 I got thrips on my Monstera Variegata and my Philodendron Plowmanii. I use somthing called Raid to get rid of them. Can´t afford beneficial bugs and raid kills the thrips right away.
I just had to do the same thing, trips to and from the bathtub spraying plants with the insecticide soap and neem oil, now that they’re all back in their spots, I want to bring them all back and clean them off… sigh, the neem oil made everything shiny, I’m glad I’m accustomed to the burnt garlic smell lol Amphibian theme? yes totally thanks for the suggestion! 😭I tried to get some on the soil too but didn’t soak it- maybe i will apply even more next time to the soil if this round doesn’t work. thx for watching!!💜✨🌱
I had some spider on a hoya bella start I just sprayed it with the usual neem dish soap mix but I also sprayed all plants in that room. When I had thrips it took me 19 hours to spray down every plant in my whole house for them and I and to repeat the process three times 7 days then 10 days then 14 days. Totally changed my outlook on the plants and their sizes I can keep here. At 74 years old that go round of treatments along with a follow up of systemic, Bonide to the pots so far has solved them. IT has ben almost a year now. BUT the F******* wasps in the yard needed to be seriously sprayed by professionals. I was stung so many times. The yard was full on infested and I need them to come back this week to do a second round as I have already found 8 more new nests. I have had so many stings it is starting to affect me. I am talking multiple stings at the same time. It is awful. Not to mention I am half afraid to be out in my own yard. the good news is one of the listed insects listed for killing is thrips. I know I have them in my flower beds. And he sprayed my flower beds and the sides of the whole house. He said this should create a barrier against all bugs coming in the house.
Spray the wasps? Here in Germany they are a protected species and need to be taken away by professionals and released to nature, if you kill them you have to pay a high fine. I always get a feeling that you people in the US don't care much about nature and like to destroy it for your own convenience.
your level of dedication is so impressive🤩 I’m inspired!💜 I am sorry to hear the wasps sound very challenging, especially in such huge numbers wow😫! I have heard of people hanging fake paper mache wasp nests all around their property to help deter new colonies from moving in since they tend to be quite territorial, but i’m not sure how much help that would be in a situation where you already have big populations. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your indoor and outdoor pest battles!! 💜🌱✨ 🥰
@@reallybigplant Thanks. I just really need to keep on top of pests and hit them with alI have. Wasp spray people had to come back out there were at least 20 more nests. IT is so insane. I am half terrified of my own yard right now. They killed those nests off and it was early in the morning while wasps were still hunkered down so it killed them. I just do not know how there can be so many here. Wasp people say this is just a really bad year.
That fiasco of fitting the snake plant into the bottom pot of that stand 😂 Luckily (touch wood!) I’ve never had to deal with pests other than gnats. My gnat battle is ongoing. Mosquito bits has been a lifesaver at controlling them though! About your spider mites (if the pesticide doesn’t work), have you considered predatory mites? I don’t have any experience with them, but I’ve heard a lot of praise about them within the plant community.
I've been at war with thrips for a while...they go away (kind of) and then they come back 🙄 It's not a bad infestation, just a few here and there but it's still annoying
Spider mites killed my maranta, no matter what I did they wouldn’t go away. Mealy bugs seem to love my Hoyas, just when I finish saving one Hoya another gets mealy bugs 😭
Hey sweetie, I don't mean to sound like your mom...... well OK, I do mean to sound like your mom. Even though the pesticide is labeled for some human use, I would have liked to have seen you wearing gloves, mask, and goggles. Saying this as a mom and former pesticide applicator.🙂
Yes, lice treatments are awful awful- makes you want children who have no friends lol. As terrible as it is when you are putting it on your child’s scalp, we still tried to minimize skin absorption as much as possible. But, very happy you did do your due diligence to research the options!
Hi Sue 💜💜💜 I really appreciate you saying this and looking out for me and our community!
That fiasco of fitting the snake plant into the bottom pot of that stand 😂
Luckily (touch wood!) I’ve never had to deal with pests other than gnats. My gnat battle is ongoing. Mosquito bits has been a lifesaver at controlling them though!
About your spider mites (if the pesticide doesn’t work), have you considered predatory mites? I don’t have any experience with them, but I’ve heard a lot of praise about them within the plant community.
Now that you know that will happen next year, you can prevent it by using the insecticide in advance. That is good news 😊
💚
I've been at war with thrips for a while...they go away (kind of) and then they come back 🙄 It's not a bad infestation, just a few here and there but it's still annoying
Use Beneficial bugs!!! 💚🌿
I have nightmares of spider mites this video is giving me anxiety haha
Oh my goodness, your neighborhood is infested damnnnn thats hard.
i didn’t even know stuff like this happened lol 😭😭💜 thx for watching!!
You are absolutely right, I should wear a mask and other gear when spraying chemicals, the more protection the better. Especially since I knew I would be doing a lot of spraying. I will do better next time!! thank you so much for watching and for encouraging health and safety 😊🙏🫶 have a great week!💜
Shout out natures good guys! Organic pest control
#onelesspesticide
I just had to spray everyone down for mites too. Pain in my ass 😵💫
I hope your spider mite problem dies down soon! Im currently dealing with lots of spider mites and a few thrips - not fun at all 😩
I love your channel, your video is what caused me to get into plants but please stop using your hand so much, it is so distracting and has increased over time.
