      I wasn't really surprised, (although it was a large difference in price). I still think it's an interesting piece and it now has an interesting story attached to it.

      A good lesson in the distinction between a good 100% right piece (difficult to find) that a collector seeks out, and an 'also ran' that a decorator will buy at the discount.

      No ... because every time a piece gets "improved" like that, there are fewer of the 100% intact ones. And scarcity drives up prices.

      I believe the channel holder is referring to the difference between the monetary amounts, not the fact that there was a difference.

    Funny thing is that the Victorians used to call such pieces "improved".
