Same here! Wasteland 3 was up for grabs with the gamepass, pre-install atleast. Never heard of the franchise before and got Wasteland 2 to kill time till 3 launches.
You probably won't read this 6 years after your video, but thank you very much. I am a noob at crpg's and feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options they give and the chance to fcuk up the mid-late game due to bad choices in the early game. Very clear and very well explained. I bought this game 2 days ago on Playstation sale for AUS $6, which is a steal. I have started a temporary game on the easiest setting, and I am really enjoying playing around with the game for a little while before I try a harder setting as a proper play through. Thumbs up and I hope you get more clicks due to people buying this game during the sale.

I really like the game but it does have a lot of minor stuff that can lead to major annoyances in the game. The game has the "use this build or you're stupid" feel to it. Some fans prefer that method, I think the game expects immediate Min-Maxing. Here is what I learned: Such as Barter does not stack if you assign the skill points to a particular character. (So have at least 1 character good at a particular skill instead of spreading the skill). The Leadership skill is a MUST HAVE. The reason being that some companions that you find are going to act on their own. Which would mean running straight into a crowd of ravenous honey badgers or other awful wildlife. Besides making the joinable allies do what you tell them to do. It also provides an accuracy buff when Leader Ranger stands near your party members. RNG continues to be a frustrating part of the game. The Leadership skill is LINKED to the Charisma stat. The higher the CHR, the larger the support circle for Leadership. The Master Hunter shotgun perk works for your Rangers in your current party but does not work for ally or neutral NPCs. I had to spend a lot of time save scumming to avoid killing friendly NPCs. Speaking of shotguns, the Obliterator perk destory an enemy's character sounds cool but there is not enough destructible cover to make the perk work it. Best Skills to assign together. Demolitions + Perception. There are several regions that have mine fields. A character with both skills would be a demolition champion. It is best to let them be your selected character when venturing through new areas. Computer Skills + Alarm Disarming go hand in hand. There is a perk which allow to get free ammunition and makes a specific enemy type easier to combat. Lockpicking + Safecracking. There are no perks besides the two allowing the Ranger to essentially never fail lock pick checks. Alarm disarming and Safecracking open specific safes. It is the best way to get some better equipment for the early game. It feels randomized partly but there should be something one of your Rangers can use. Brute Force is a decent ability. It allows you to find short cuts when exploring or improve a melee based character. (I recommend it, since it was fun to make a Bladed whirlwind character). Do not sleep on Weapon Smith skill. There are weapon mods to that can really change the feel of gun builds. Guns jam way too damn much for how low the percentage feels. There are mods that essentially removes jamming. Also, do not feel discouraged when you get nothing but junk weapon parts. You can definitely use the parts to farm currency in the early game. The vendor you visit is the Quartermaster in Ranger Citadel. As a bonus, the skill has perks which can make your character essentially have 1 free Action Point during combat. DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT sell certain items from repaired Toasters. It is not explained at all, but there are specific items that NPCs would be interested to purchase off your Rangers. It may not be easy to tell, but there are is unique gear your Rangers will love using. (There are online guides, check it out after your first playthrough). There will be occasions where you find books which increases a character's skill. Do not use it right away, it is best to save it for a character that uses that skill specifically. Duh, I know. But the skill book reduces the amount of skill points you need to accumulate. In order to reach level 10 in a skill, takes a lot of points to get there. The last one from skill level of 9 to 10, requires eight points from level ups. Saving a skill book can allow you to save that 8 skill points for a specific Ranger. (This goes hand in hand with some Toaster item rewards). I'll add more to this comment later.
I'm pretty late to the party. I briefly tinkered with this a couple years ago but never got past the garden center with the evil plants. I kept losing a character to exploding barrels or something. I'm diving back into it and this is an excellent "what-to-do guide" video for the first couple hours of game play.
Thanks man! I was running around the wasteland with no lockpick character and no tank character. I basically just chose the preset characters that had the coolest backstories.

Great video. Didn't miss as much as I thought I did during my first two hours. Did pretty much everything showed in the video, except for getting the ammo in the firing range but that's mostly because I didn't know how to use the lockpicking skill.
+Mal Yeah I eventually figured it out. I didn't realize that skills had to be manually selected. I had just thought my lockpicking was too low and that was the reason I wasn't seeing an option to lockpick.
I was an early backer on kickstarter for wasteland 2. The game got delayed and life got hectic. I forgot about the game until I was going through my steam library, playing the classic Fallout's. I remembered wasteland 2. I'm so excited for this game, especially after your tips and tricks.

Downloaded this they ps now streaming service and I’m loving this game. Been wanting a new flavor of rpg and this is my first foray into isometric ones!
So my experience: I built my team exactly as mal did. I set it to easiest difficulty. Mal says go ahead and level up near citadel early on. I’m thinking great, nice stress free leveling. Then I get these urgent radio calls that are time sensitive, so stress free leveling is out. I go to ag site and get in an encounter with a ton of animals. I get surrounded by seriously like 9 animals. I attack them and continually miss, over and over again I miss, while they wittle me away. Is this supposed to be fun? I’m on the easiest freaking difficulty, can the game please just let me win for a bit while I learn the mechanics? I don’t understand the extreme difficulty

Now, I was confused the first time I attempted this game a long time ago and I still am to be honest. 1 - How do you know what skills to pump points into in what order? Should I follow that chart and just go down the list line by line or maxing one after the other or is there some "correct" way to spread them out? 2 - No character has Field Medic at the start? I get the grinding around the citadel part but "somebody" is going to get hurt (has!) and I have find myself with no way to heal.... Also my game seems to like to throw the giant lizards at me very close to the camp and then of course it's reload time which I don't like doing but just can't handle them this early. I'm also aware of the first NPC you are getting but trying to grind up to level 3 or 4 before starting any quests and then heading off to get her is proving harder than thought it would be. Then again, I may just be real bad at this.... Thanks for reading! I will keep watching!

My tip is: on your rifleman(s), put 1 pip on pistols or blades. The starting rifles are crap and a waste of precious ammo. Sell them all and buy 1 rifle from the vendor and put it on Angela. Use the pistols/blades for the initial missions and the mobs usually drop that type of weapons. If you use a blade guy, try to buy the armor from the vendor as well for him.
I don't know if you still look at your comments, but I'm curious, what are the major differences between the original Wasteland 2 and the Director's Cut, and how much of this guide is applicable for the original version? I really like the customization in the original version a lot more and I'd rather play that.
+Mal I got a question if you don't mind ... In your guide on the leader character you don't recommend picking smart ass as a main skill , just getting it to 5. Do I need to start levelling it to 5 straight away? it seems it will take a fair few points/levels to be able to get it to 5. Or will I not need it for a long time?
+gingerbill128 Well there is one NPC I want to have join up before leaving AZ (sorry if this is a spoiler for you). Once you leave the AZ area there is no way to recruit this person and it does take a 22 CHR group score to have the person join. So while you don't need to work on it right away, you will need it to acquire the Radiant Personality Perk. I see at the beginning of your vid, you activated a characters "perception" and walked around using it while looking for stuff... How do I activate that on XB1? Thanks in advance.
My inventory hud is much different than yours. I thought maybe I didn't have the directors cut version installed but I do. No idea. Edit - Ok I removed the normal wasteland and it loaded the new version on the next attempt. Odd, they were linked somehow. I'll leave this here in case someone else runs into that issue.
+Mal I found they were completely separate (in Steam) and below the standard version you will see Directors Cut and you install it as if it's it's own game (i suppose it is really) and both versions of the game installed independently
+Mal :D sorry Mal i forgot to ask, have you tried a very early game tactic where, with just 6 total charisma across your squad, 1, 1, 1, and 3 for the Leader recruiting Angela for another 2 charisma, selling all the junk and loot around Ranger Citadel to buy a Rad suit 2 heading north and eating a couple of ticks of Rad 3 damage Going to Rail Nomads and saving Ralhpy then recruiting him for another 4 Charisma You can then recruit Scotchmo having a total of 12 Charisma (minimum for Scotchmo, high standards that hobo) and Scotchmo can then be your Lockpicker/Safecracker You then have a maxed squad size at the start of the game, you can loot Rail Nomads for decent tier stuff, and get rid of Angela when you get to the Ag Centre and recruit Rose Ralphy and Scotchmo may not be great recruits but having them so early means you can mold them into whatever you need then to be :D I'm going to be starting an Ironman Impossible series of Wastelands 2 and that's exactly the route I'm taking :D
+Mal Yeah i have to say, they really out did themselves with the Directors cut features, probably the best Directors cut/enhanced edition/next generation edition of a game i have ever seen :) though saying that honestly it did kind of need the features they've added, the VATS like precision targeting (can't wait to have fun with that :D) the quirks and the perks you can unlock , really adds flavour to the game and helps differentiate play styles :D Are you going to hold off on your 7th soldier and wait for Pizpei? or is someone going to be filling in for her? Yeah my low Charisma for starters in more to keep my recruits in line, 3 Charisma is a 5 tile radius from the Leader which is "good enough" :D and also 3 perks to get only -7 accuracy on enemies in close to mid range around the Leader seems kind of expensive, not to mention it seems like it is more to give melee defense, where the Turtle perk is to give ranged defense :S
I tried grinding at the beginning of the game like you suggested, but I started getting messages from Highpool and the Ag Center very quickly. They were both destroyed before I made it to level 2.

There's a miss-able part of the very first conversation if you don't press Succeed when talking with General Vargas . Thank you for the simple explanation to the game . Being a perfectionist , i struggle with games that have too much consequence to choice ratios . Plus , the conversations were extremely difficult to have the patience to actually read on this game .
You can also walk through the weaker radiation to the rail nomad camp and pick up Ralphy and you can find a dig spot a little past the bikes and get a their three weapon such as a Bren or a karabiner
So, while I'm waiting for the patch I decided to do what you suggest and grind out up until level 4 in that area. Humans are fine, but the animal mobs are just eating me alive. Even if I shoot and scoot, their fast enough to catch up and the weapons, just aren't strong enough against two toads and then not to mention having to worry about the 3 wolves. I know you have a combat tutorial coming up but man, I was wondering if you were having the same issues on Ranger. Edit: Nevermind, it's all animals encounters. I mean the problem is the weapons just seem underpowered and the creatures just have too much health/armor for the low powered weapons. Whenever you do a combat tutorial, I'd love to see you fight some animals because that's the real trouble for me. Not to mention not having a surgeon skill means that anyone who goes down in those fight is assured to die as they can't be revived right?

Mal Awesome! Can't wait! Incidentally, I may of found a decent grinding area and that is the land between the Radio Tower and the Citadel. I hit upon the idea of checking the area as it's the area the people going straight for the Radio Tower would go (as most people aren't going to grind but instead head to the first objective). Sure enough, it's far easier! I've done 5 or 6 fights so far and they've all been against 2 cutters and a raider with a makarov. Needless to say, their easy pickings for my Sniper and AR duo so I'm not even really getting touched. Best of all, I've yet to encounter any animals! If you are going to grind, I suggest doing it there because of this. Edit: I did at level 2 though give my skill monkey Surgeon and Medic 1 just for those occassions RNG decides to fuck with me. And since I went with 10 Int from the start, she'll have 10 extra skill points anyways so it's not like I'll notice it in the end.
Since you bring up weapons in this game, I have a question. Between the FAMAS and the AR16, which do you prefer? I've seen people in guides argue that one or the other is far superior so I'm just curious of your thoughts.
This is just my two cents, but Wasteland is more of a true Fallout than the past 3 games we've gotten after 2, mostly since it's kept the same point and click nature of the first games.
+MagnaSonic3000 Well Fallout was only made because the folks that made Wasteland no longer had the rights. So it make sense that the first few Fallout projects felt more like Wasteland. I think FO1 & 2 are stronger then the current offerings from Bethesda; that said, I also have not played FO4 yet, I here it is solid.
If you don't take angela is it ok to get her to join take all her gear then dump her. I don't want to take her cos I feel it's a little cheap cos she is so much higher level than everyone else. Love your guides btw. Really clear and well structured. Thanks
I started following what you suggested here I didn't stray far from citadel and I started getting more and more urgent radio messages telling me to pick an objective. (Water tower or Some Lab.)
As long as you stay just NW of the RC, you will be fine... it's only after you get too far South or East that the missions then become mandatory. Note, once they do, you may only save one.
Did you purchase the M24 or did you relieve the merchant of it? It's 540 scrap, so not cheap. Taking it from him was not doable, for me at least. A video of that fight would have been nice if that was how you completed it.
Grenades, positioning and about 40 minutes to the fight. I suppose I could have and then edited it but it was in all honesty pretty boring... LOTS of kiting the bodyguards.

How did you avoid having to go save highpool straight out of the gate? Attempting my first supreme jerk playthrough and I'm getting hammered with my crap stats and stock weapons. My understanding was that if you don't immediately go, or soon, both locations are lost. That correct?
You simply state just to the north of the RC or over to the NW... if you go South or East you will get the emergency call and have to respond. Good Luck!
If u can pull rhe mangler from.the create u can then use it too blow up the first merchant u met in random encounter in waste and then loot her all your characters will be using maxed gear

+Bighead Mike Great question and the answer is no, it does not. It also does not matter for XP on who gets a 'kill'. The amount of XP each person is however affected by their Charisma stat and skill usage. Welcome to the channel! :D
Hmm I've tried doing the random encounters thing, but I'm rapidly running out of ammo. Do you go and sell junk and buy new bullets to keep it going? I usually get 2-3 kills with assault- or sniper rifle and 1 kill with melee in each raider encounter. Is that too conservative? I simply try and finish off the last guy with melee.
Yes i the early game sell everything you can. Make certain to open your fights with the Sniper, though the ammo is more costly you are almost sure to get an insta-kill. Also, remember not all ammo cost the same so it is sometimes better to use a lower-end weapon with cheap ammo. Also, try to run from any fight where it is animals/creatures, as they suck up your ammo and give little in terms of good loot. Though, in the DC version sometimes you will get a grenade off a a large animal, go figure :/ Good luck to you! o7

How did you activate perception? It seems hidden. I dont have a white ring on my perceptive character. Do you have to have more than one skill point there?
Huh, was that always the UI for the inventory? I played this game when it came but haven't played it since, wanted to play it again for wasteland 3 and this is kinda bothering me. I seem to remember a different inventory UI. Is this part of the remaster change? I never played the remaster, only the original.

I watched your videos on building a team. None of them had surgeon or medic. And Angela doesn't either You said you were using an NPC for surgeon purposes. Is it in the beginning?
The Mule is a pretty good starting weapon. It fires 2 shells at a 70 degree cone for 4 ap, whereas your starting shotgun only fires 1 shell in a 30 degree cone for 5 ap. It's pretty damn devastating. I was taking out higher level Red Skorpion raiders up farther north with it and picking up some M4s early on.
The permadeath mechanic is rough. My First Aid ranger was the one that died, too, so there's nobody around that can give the others real medical aid now.

How come your leader monkey has points in shotguns when you said to take assault rifle in the quick play making custom crew vid? I took the assault rifle and now sort of wish id gone shotgun lol.

If you already have it on PC; then you should have the DC version listed on your Steam account (all previous WL2 owners got the DC version for 'free'). I really enjoy WL2 and the new DC version brings in some really cool features like Perks! :)

Great video. Didn't miss as much as I thought I did during my first two hours. Did pretty much everything showed in the video, except for getting the ammo in the firing range but that's mostly because I didn't know how to use the lockpicking skill.

I was an early backer on kickstarter for wasteland 2. The game got delayed and life got hectic. I forgot about the game until I was going through my steam library, playing the classic Fallout's. I remembered wasteland 2. I'm so excited for this game, especially after your tips and tricks.

Downloaded this they ps now streaming service and I’m loving this game. Been wanting a new flavor of rpg and this is my first foray into isometric ones!
I started with the default squad and none of my heroes can lockpick it due to low skill...:(
So my experience: I built my team exactly as mal did. I set it to easiest difficulty. Mal says go ahead and level up near citadel early on. I’m thinking great, nice stress free leveling. Then I get these urgent radio calls that are time sensitive, so stress free leveling is out. I go to ag site and get in an encounter with a ton of animals. I get surrounded by seriously like 9 animals. I attack them and continually miss, over and over again I miss, while they wittle me away. Is this supposed to be fun? I’m on the easiest freaking difficulty, can the game please just let me win for a bit while I learn the mechanics? I don’t understand the extreme difficulty

Now, I was confused the first time I attempted this game a long time ago and I still am to be honest.
1 - How do you know what skills to pump points into in what order? Should I follow that chart and just go down the list line by line or maxing one after the other or is there some "correct" way to spread them out?
2 - No character has Field Medic at the start? I get the grinding around the citadel part but "somebody" is going to get hurt (has!) and I have find myself with no way to heal.... Also my game seems to like to throw the giant lizards at me very close to the camp and then of course it's reload time which I don't like doing but just can't handle them this early.
I'm also aware of the first NPC you are getting but trying to grind up to level 3 or 4 before starting any quests and then heading off to get her is proving harder than thought it would be.
Then again, I may just be real bad at this....

My tip is: on your rifleman(s), put 1 pip on pistols or blades. The starting rifles are crap and a waste of precious ammo. Sell them all and buy 1 rifle from the vendor and put it on Angela. Use the pistols/blades for the initial missions and the mobs usually drop that type of weapons. If you use a blade guy, try to buy the armor from the vendor as well for him.
I don't know if you still look at your comments, but I'm curious, what are the major differences between the original Wasteland 2 and the Director's Cut, and how much of this guide is applicable for the original version? I really like the customization in the original version a lot more and I'd rather play that.

+Mal I got a question if you don't mind ... In your guide on the leader character you don't recommend picking smart ass as a main skill , just getting it to 5. Do I need to start levelling it to 5 straight away? it seems it will take a fair few points/levels to be able to get it to 5. Or will I not need it for a long time?
+gingerbill128 Well there is one NPC I want to have join up before leaving AZ (sorry if this is a spoiler for you). Once you leave the AZ area there is no way to recruit this person and it does take a 22 CHR group score to have the person join. So while you don't need to work on it right away, you will need it to acquire the Radiant Personality Perk. you can't really highlight usables in the console versions. You can stop and use the wheel to highlight objects but that's about it.
My inventory hud is much different than yours. I thought maybe I didn't have the directors cut version installed but I do. No idea. Edit - Ok I removed the normal wasteland and it loaded the new version on the next attempt. Odd, they were linked somehow. I'll leave this here in case someone else runs into that issue.

+Mal I found they were completely separate (in Steam) and below the standard version you will see Directors Cut and you install it as if it's it's own game (i suppose it is really) and both versions of the game installed independently

+Mal :D sorry Mal i forgot to ask, have you tried a very early game tactic where,
with just 6 total charisma across your squad, 1, 1, 1, and 3 for the Leader
recruiting Angela for another 2 charisma,
selling all the junk and loot around Ranger Citadel to buy a Rad suit 2
heading north and eating a couple of ticks of Rad 3 damage
Going to Rail Nomads and saving Ralhpy then recruiting him for another 4 Charisma
You can then recruit Scotchmo having a total of 12 Charisma (minimum for Scotchmo, high standards that hobo) and Scotchmo can then be your Lockpicker/Safecracker
You then have a maxed squad size at the start of the game, you can loot Rail Nomads for decent tier stuff, and get rid of Angela when you get to the Ag Centre and recruit Rose
Ralphy and Scotchmo may not be great recruits but having them so early means you can mold them into whatever you need then to be :D I'm going to be starting an Ironman Impossible series of Wastelands 2 and that's exactly the route I'm taking :D
+Mal Yeah i have to say, they really out did themselves with the Directors cut features, probably the best Directors cut/enhanced edition/next generation edition of a game i have ever seen :) though saying that honestly it did kind of need the features they've added, the VATS like precision targeting (can't wait to have fun with that :D) the quirks and the perks you can unlock , really adds flavour to the game and helps differentiate play styles :D
Are you going to hold off on your 7th soldier and wait for Pizpei? or is someone going to be filling in for her?
Yeah my low Charisma for starters in more to keep my recruits in line, 3 Charisma is a 5 tile radius from the Leader which is "good enough" :D and also 3 perks to get only -7 accuracy on enemies in close to mid range around the Leader seems kind of expensive, not to mention it seems like it is more to give melee defense, where the Turtle perk is to give ranged defense :S
I tried grinding at the beginning of the game like you suggested, but I started getting messages from Highpool and the Ag Center very quickly. They were both destroyed before I made it to level 2.

So that I was the reason highpool and the ag center were destroyed while I was trying to grind some levels.. Guess I need to start a new game then.
There's a miss-able part of the very first conversation if you don't press Succeed when talking with General Vargas . Thank you for the simple explanation to the game . Being a perfectionist , i struggle with games that have too much consequence to choice ratios . Plus , the conversations were extremely difficult to have the patience to actually read on this game .
You can also walk through the weaker radiation to the rail nomad camp and pick up Ralphy and you can find a dig spot a little past the bikes and get a their three weapon such as a Bren or a karabiner

So, while I'm waiting for the patch I decided to do what you suggest and grind out up until level 4 in that area. Humans are fine, but the animal mobs are just eating me alive. Even if I shoot and scoot, their fast enough to catch up and the weapons, just aren't strong enough against two toads and then not to mention having to worry about the 3 wolves. I know you have a combat tutorial coming up but man, I was wondering if you were having the same issues on Ranger.
Edit: Nevermind, it's all animals encounters. I mean the problem is the weapons just seem underpowered and the creatures just have too much health/armor for the low powered weapons. Whenever you do a combat tutorial, I'd love to see you fight some animals because that's the real trouble for me. Not to mention not having a surgeon skill means that anyone who goes down in those fight is assured to die as they can't be revived right?

Incidentally, I may of found a decent grinding area and that is the land between the Radio Tower and the Citadel. I hit upon the idea of checking the area as it's the area the people going straight for the Radio Tower would go (as most people aren't going to grind but instead head to the first objective).
Sure enough, it's far easier! I've done 5 or 6 fights so far and they've all been against 2 cutters and a raider with a makarov. Needless to say, their easy pickings for my Sniper and AR duo so I'm not even really getting touched. Best of all, I've yet to encounter any animals! If you are going to grind, I suggest doing it there because of this.
Edit: I did at level 2 though give my skill monkey Surgeon and Medic 1 just for those occassions RNG decides to fuck with me. And since I went with 10 Int from the start, she'll have 10 extra skill points anyways so it's not like I'll notice it in the end.
Since you bring up weapons in this game, I have a question. Between the FAMAS and the AR16, which do you prefer? I've seen people in guides argue that one or the other is far superior so I'm just curious of your thoughts.
Mal Yeah I meant M16. The Civilian version of the M16 was or is the AR15, and that's where I go confused with my numbers. Good to know though.

This is just my two cents, but Wasteland is more of a true Fallout than the past 3 games we've gotten after 2, mostly since it's kept the same point and click nature of the first games.
+MagnaSonic3000 Well Fallout was only made because the folks that made Wasteland no longer had the rights. So it make sense that the first few Fallout projects felt more like Wasteland. I think FO1 & 2 are stronger then the current offerings from Bethesda; that said, I also have not played FO4 yet, I here it is solid.

I started following what you suggested here I didn't stray far from citadel and I started getting more and more urgent radio messages telling me to pick an objective. (Water tower or Some Lab.)
As long as you stay just NW of the RC, you will be fine... it's only after you get too far South or East that the missions then become mandatory. Note, once they do, you may only save one.
Do you have a recommendation on which to do first?
Did you purchase the M24 or did you relieve the merchant of it? It's 540 scrap, so not cheap. Taking it from him was not doable, for me at least. A video of that fight would have been nice if that was how you completed it.
Grenades, positioning and about 40 minutes to the fight. I suppose I could have and then edited it but it was in all honesty pretty boring... LOTS of kiting the bodyguards.
I could not finish this game on PS4, I might have a better chance on PC with the help of this guide

How did you avoid having to go save highpool straight out of the gate? Attempting my first supreme jerk playthrough and I'm getting hammered with my crap stats and stock weapons. My understanding was that if you don't immediately go, or soon, both locations are lost. That correct?
You simply state just to the north of the RC or over to the NW... if you go South or East you will get the emergency call and have to respond. Good Luck!
If u can pull rhe mangler from.the create u can then use it too blow up the first merchant u met in random encounter in waste and then loot her all your characters will be using maxed gear

+Bighead Mike Great question and the answer is no, it does not. It also does not matter for XP on who gets a 'kill'. The amount of XP each person is however affected by their Charisma stat and skill usage. Welcome to the channel! :D
Hmm I've tried doing the random encounters thing, but I'm rapidly running out of ammo. Do you go and sell junk and buy new bullets to keep it going? I usually get 2-3 kills with assault- or sniper rifle and 1 kill with melee in each raider encounter. Is that too conservative? I simply try and finish off the last guy with melee.
Yes i the early game sell everything you can. Make certain to open your fights with the Sniper, though the ammo is more costly you are almost sure to get an insta-kill. Also, remember not all ammo cost the same so it is sometimes better to use a lower-end weapon with cheap ammo. Also, try to run from any fight where it is animals/creatures, as they suck up your ammo and give little in terms of good loot. Though, in the DC version sometimes you will get a grenade off a a large animal, go figure :/ Good luck to you! o7

IIRC you do not need any skill in it to benefit but with a 1 skill you really won't be able to really do anything. Good luck!

The Mule is a pretty good starting weapon. It fires 2 shells at a 70 degree cone for 4 ap, whereas your starting shotgun only fires 1 shell in a 30 degree cone for 5 ap. It's pretty damn devastating. I was taking out higher level Red Skorpion raiders up farther north with it and picking up some M4s early on.

The permadeath mechanic is rough. My First Aid ranger was the one that died, too, so there's nobody around that can give the others real medical aid now.

How come your leader monkey has points in shotguns when you said to take assault rifle in the quick play making custom crew vid? I took the assault rifle and now sort of wish id gone shotgun lol.
ARs are much better overall, which is why it is noted that way in the update quick start guide and on the team spreadsheet linked in the description.

If you already have it on PC; then you should have the DC version listed on your Steam account (all previous WL2 owners got the DC version for 'free'). I really enjoy WL2 and the new DC version brings in some really cool features like Perks! :)
