Severe weather accompanied by large hail hit several areas in Rock Hill, South Carolina causing chaos and some damage.
According to media reports, strong winds and heavy hail caused severe disruption to driving, and many drivers decided to stop because of window damage. The National Weather Service Fort Worth predicts the threat of large hail and tornadoes

I have been around going on 70 years and have seen hundreds of these hailstorms. In May 1989 Grayson county Texas was hit with a hailstorm worse than this. I can literally remember 100's of hailstorms here in good ol'tornado alley. Nature can be rough!

And yes, 4/20-21/2024 we had a lot of rain, flooding, thunder and lightning. And yes, hail in some parts. I'm in a lil place called "Newport" (still in Rock Hill) and we just got heavy down pour.

But since returning to SC in 2013 …. many weather anomalies have occurred. 2014 Hail storm tore up all roofs & then snow storm made everything come to a full stop. Followed by the devastating. 2015 1000 year flood. Then the 12.27.21 Earth quack set off 100+ rumbles. 5 this past March. Born here & returned after retiring. Never recall weather events like this. Worst warning I remember is if Lake Murray Dam ever burst….we’d all be under water. Our Neighbors blamed us for bringing bad weather down with us. All I remember was the oppressive SC heat & ladies using “parasols” if they needed to go out in the heat of the day. NO ONE ventured out during the heat of the day. Nope. Us dumb college kids would fry an egg on the sidewalk in college. LOL. Always loved SC whatever comes. ~Southern girl til I die
