One of the reasons why we lost this game is the same as the reason why we are in deep trouble in Mundobasket qualifiers - it's Pesic vanity. Much like he held Jokic on the bench for the most of 4th quarter,he took out Avramovic who was on fire in our qualifying game against Belgium. Even when they overturned the result,he kept him on the bench until the game was over and we've lost. He was great coach but at age of 73 he's not a coach for team with serious ambitions.

The serbians scored also 18 points (11 only in the first half) with free shots on fouls. Fouls that in the most cases are INEXISTENT, or worst when the referee gave a serbian attack foul to Italy as a defensive foul... so Italy finished the bonus every time in a short period. Without the incompetence of referees, many (at least 10) of these points were not scored by Serbia... which would have lost anyway. And if we scored more free throws (we had a 10/15)... And if... and if... But, as Andrea replied, the game is not made by "if... then".

As a Serb I congratulate Italy on their lion heart of a performance.. their incredible spirit and belief justifies the epic victory. However this had little to do with Jokic.. Poor tactics from coach Pesic.. Micic and others looked like they took sleeping pills for the next flight far too early.. Italy's shooting became🔥and Serbia left with 🎻 Good luck to all the teams left !

Serbia shot three points awful in that match, three players that played longest minutes in Serbia's team had 1/15 for three, and that is the biggest reason for losing the game. Lucic, Micic and Guduric had 1/15 for three, when you add Jaramaz and Milutinov who also played awful you have a catastrophe which happened. Jokic on the other hand is not an alien, in only 28 min of play, he delivered 32pts, 8/14, 13rbs, 4ast, 2stl, 1bl and had an overall EFF of 41, the biggest in the game by far. Respect to Italy, but Serbia defeat themselves here with very low shooting performance and with lousy play from bench.

I think Serbia will have some great regrets to not have a playmaker like Teodosic in this game. Jokic was on the bench for 12 minutes. He scored 32 points and was deadly from the line. BTW, your title does not match your analysis. You showed it yourself, Italians made a lot of open shots. Serbs, on the other side, did not. That was a big difference. Also, Italians had open shots because of opponent bad defensive organisation. Not just Jokic's one. Jokic did not need the rest. He could play 40 minutes. But, somebody decided Serbia did not need him.

But Jokic's minutes in which the team was +10 got 70% of the video, and the 3 point barage from Spissu which came with Jokic on the bench gets 10% of the video... Italy getting to the final beating Slovenia would be one of those stories you can remember for life. In order to make this happen we have to prove great consistence at this level which we haven't done yet.

They didn't expose Jokic, the title is misleading.
Serbia shot three points awful in that match, three players that played longest minutes in Serbia's team had 1/15 for three, and that is the biggest reason for losing the game.
Lucic, Micic and Guduric had 1/15 for three, when you add Jaramaz and Milutinov who also played awful you have a catastrophe which happened.
Jokic on the other hand is not an alien, in only 28 min of play, he delivered 32pts, 8/14, 13rbs, 4ast, 2stl, 1bl and had an overall EFF of 41, the biggest in the game by far.
Respect to Italy, but Serbia defeat themselves here with very low shooting performance and with lousy play from bench.

Nah some of the plays you showed really werent jokic fault or he just straight up played good d on some of them. Like the one qwith the pick and pop where lucic got faked or when jokic closed out after the switch really werent on him. Its unrealistic to ask a player of his isze to cover the pick, drive and shot at the same time. One on of the plays lucic should have covered the paint and given the three since jokic was far away Jokic shouldnt have gotten confused and gotten to the paint but still. Instead he got stuck in no mans land leading to an open lay up. on 6:05 jokic had the play covered but micic went for the steal for some reason

The reason Serbia lost is because their demented coach, playing Jokic for less than 30minutes in a game like this, forgeting to cut the streak with a time out and puting the right players on the court in the right time. I think Serbia will have some great regrets to not have a playmaker like Teodosic in this game. You showed it yourself, Italians made a lot of open shots. Serbs, on the other side, did not. That was a big difference. Also, Italians had open shots because of opponent bad defensive organisation. Not just Jokic's one.
Jokic did not need the rest. He could play 40 minutes. But, somebody decided Serbia did not need him.
