Idk I think there’s a difference between idol and celebrity. Like I’ll listen to anything Taylor Swift puts out but that’s not so I can get her streaming numbers up, it’s because I think she makes good music. Personally I feel the same about Yunjin. There’s no way she’s be able to single handedly end parasocial relationships, but she’s using her platform to advocate for things that matter and her musics good. I think I forgot where I was going with this
It makes me so upset that people will try to do whatever it takes to put someone down. Someone makes a statement to change and people will pick and complain about how things (or that person) never changed. It's so ridiculous.
@@verballyconstipated bro, I'm not talking about Yunjin. I'm talking about K-pop stans and their inability to distinguish their view from Yunjin's "persona" and not really look at her message. And yes, people are putting her down since they don't see any change happening in K-pop, and they leave comments on her MV's to make fun of her. Like someone wasn't watching the video. 5:38
The people who compare idols and compete over whose bias does a better job of “changing the industry” are missing the point. We need MORE diverse idols with deeper narratives in their art to change societal perceptions of what should be expected from idols. We need public pressure on entertainment companies to stop treating idols as commodities and to give them the rights they are owed as workers and, more importantly, as humans. We’re not supposed to hope our faves get to monopolize the “not like other idols” image. That’s ridiculous and defeating the point of what idols like Yunjin and Soyeon are trying to do in the first place.
Late reply but I dont think "putting pressure on companies" would work as much as really supporting idols and groups who represent better, fair and mindful messages. We can prove it through success so companies can realize thats the better more profitable path to follow. Think about it, it took BTS to drive the "love yourself" narrative for the trend of groups suddenly talking about loving yourself more in the music. They werent the only ones to do that but it really drove the point in that we like as much flashiness as much as realness.
She’s not changing the idol industry, she’s telling people that in order to actually change it they also need to change themselves (both idols and fans), her message is loud and clear but ppl don’t want to listen to that, they prefer to listen what they want
Yunjin can do actually nothing to change the industry, she can just convey a message through her song as she is an artist an influential person , but if her fans don’t understand what message she is giving and doesn’t try to reflect on it nothing will happen At the end , fans need to change , fans need to first of all love songs not idols, we came here for music , but now it seems , kpop fans are not here for music but just to obsess over people they don’t know , we love idols and singers cause we love their songs , we don’t love songs because we love the idols , it will be fucked up that way
Sth interesting when I was at college in south Korea. my korean language teacher(who was a Korean himself) asked me if I am a bts fan and I said yes I'm an army. He asked again "do you like all bts songs?" I said no. Then he said "then your not a real army!" I was really surprised to hear that and first was like what the?! But then I realized how this industry is to Korean people.
Fans dont listen to kpop idols. They just see them as machines and have high expectations for them but they also deny that they dont have high expectations for their idols. What ever these idols say people won't take them seriously and think that their just being problematic, quirky, trying to act different from other idols but they are simply just trying to spread a message.
the way yunjins message completely went over peoples heads this song isn’t going to simply change the industry unless kpop stans participating in such behaviour like bashing and judging female idols unprovoked reflect on if what they are doing is worth it . yunjin didn’t just release these songs to have a quirky “not like other girls“ moment but to show how idols aren’t these perfect mannequins on display for you to pick apart. when I listened to i≠doll I immediately thought of wonyoung and the way she went from loved during her time in both produce 48 and iz*one to being hated for literally no reason now . some of you completely disregard the message being emphasised here .
i think y’all are just overanalyzing her statement. she claimed she wanted to “change the idol industry”, not flip it all around. idk where “parasocial relationships” came from, but she’s not responsible for changing things like that. it’s pretty obvious she’s trying to set a new MINDSET and be vocal about it (since a lot of idols do think similarly but don’t share it). change can be small. it does NOT have to be a dramatic change to be considered making a difference.
Thats literally what he was saying, hes not saying that yunjin is resposible for changing that, and about the whole mindset thing, that literally the exact same thing hes saying like i dont think you understand what he is say. He is saying that yunjin is trying to spread a massage to us fans and she needs us to help her in spreading it but i think people think that when she said that she "wants to change the idol industry" they (people) thought that she was gonna yk physically change the idol industry as in do some thing physical about it i rather than just writing a song about it. but the whole point of the song is so spread the massage because one of the biggest problems is the fans and how they want the idols to be and look and behave etc. so hes not saying that she wants to flip the whole thing around. and this whole thing is not even nesessarily about yunjin its about the fans focusing more on her persona than the massage shes actually trying to spread. I hope this helps you understand more on what he is trying to say
@@kannibojang4704at 7:41 he stated that “we’re at a point now where people actually believe yunjin is going to change the industry. when the truth is… that’s never going to happen.” and proceeds to say the only way for the industry to change is by changing the ways of the companies, the fans, the idols, and the parasocial relationships the fans create. while those are significant issues within the kpop industry, i’m saying that’s not all that’s required to “make a change.” she’s already set such a massive standard. obviously we don’t see this huge difference yet because she hasn’t even been in the industry for a year, but her music speaks for itself. she doesn’t need to change every aspect of the industry in order to make a difference.
But other people have said the same shit before her lol, it doesnt mean anything at this point, just what companies want to hear. The idol industry didn't start yesterday. What shes doing isnt new, so like....she actually isnt breaking the status quo or anything, even little by little, bc change is long overdue
@@staycsprinkles3777 what does that have anything to do with what i was saying. my point was that she doesn’t have to make drastic changes to make a difference. which is true, regardless if she’s made a difference yet or not.
Considering the current situation the idol industry won't change unless some company decides to monopolize the whole industry with the aim of "changing" it
@@soumya5832 yea the fans being obsessed with everything and anything related to an idol is literally the reason why companies earn money. Changing the industry will also change that. And companies will never change anything which effects their profit
That "company" is called the SK government. Only the government can change an industry through laws and policies. It is a very bad thing for a private company to monopolize the entire Kpop industry. That would be a capitalist dystopia. The SK government is corrupted but at least it's democratic.
I think that Newjeans and Le Serafinn are about to do that. Especially NewJeans agências CEO being a woman that is feedback up with the industry and now the other agencies saw that break the rules is profitable. I think that the 5th generation is going to start a cultural reset
@@ach4049 njs was a hit because of their agency being a sub label of hybe and their “refreshing” songs in middle of ggs doing girl crush concepts. And ceo of njs agency has p£do allegations against her and that’s not something to just ignore. For an entire generation to start a cultural reset, kpop fans will need to be more open minded which we are not. Unless a miracle happens seeing a change is still far away
What is she changing though?? She fits all the standards of kpop, from her visuals to how she acts to her group. She doesn't call out her fans when they either do creepy shit or attack other idols for no good reason and she's in a group with a 16 year old, she's not changing sh!t, idols like Hwasa and Soyeon have actually been changing the industry by going against the norms of the industry, like beauty standards, attitude, and groups concept and/or sound, yet somehow a basic idol from the big 4 makes a song about the idol life and gets credited as "the idol that's changing the industry", and y'all still say that big 4 privilege doesn't exist?? It does, reminds me how TXT gets credit for the rock sound in kpop when dreamcatcher and krock bands have been doing it for years but never got attention due to being under small companies
You said 💅 Los fans de la big4 le atribuyen todo a sus grupitos y solo son una marioneta y se viven robando ideas de agencias chicas y medianas, por ejemplo Yunjin es una copia (fallida) de Soyeon
As a Fearnot and Dive I appreciate this video, my bias in IVE is Liz and it just breaks my heart how the industry is so ruthless one minute they’re telling Wonyoung she’s too skinny then the other telling Liz she’s gained too much weight when at the end of the day all of that is superficial! Also thank you for the Moonbin tribute, all kpop fans are really feeling the weight of how often things like this have been happening
I really like what yunjin does she is a strong girl and knows her worth and I’m sad about wonyoung getting so much hate for nothing. Pls protect our girls
I'm not even a lesserafim super Stan /ult but I respect Yunjin for her message and how she tries to change things even if only the perception of idols. Have to respect her. She will do so much in her 10 years in the limelight. This is juts the beginning

Overall I agree with this video, as an Idle stan I was disappointed that people turned Yunjin and Soyeons contributions to these types of messages into a competition rather than actually spreading the messages presented by both women in their music. it became a who did it better. Kinda disagree with the para-social relationship bit, I don't think para-social relationship as a concept is the problem. the problem is the type of person who is involved in it. If you are a well rounded individual with good values then it will be reflected in your relationships whether in real life or on the para social front, my take is oversimplified hence i recommend Elliot Sang (another you tuber) who has a much better in depth explanation of this phenomenon. Video is called 'Bo Burnham vs Para social relationships'. His thesis on the topic is one i agree with the most. The complete eradication of para-social relationships is not a reasonable solution imo. but rather an education on boundaries.
Agreed. I also think Soyeon and Yunjin are doing two different things, with their messaging. Both fighting for others, and new voices. But Soyeons messages are about fighting for women, in and out of the industry. Yunjin is fighting for all idols, and pointing out hatred and treatment they receive. Tomboy, a song about women defying standards, and being free. Nxde, a song against the sexualization of women. Lion, a song that is literally about women empowerment, comparing women to lions. Oh my god is somewhat of the outlier. It’s message is saying, love all, and every form of human is and should be loved. Yunjin, she writes differently. She points out more specific issues, and sticks with them. Self love, and treatment of idols. She talks about how idols are mistreated, and seen as disposable machines. How idols shouldn’t be pressured to look a certain way, do certain things, etc. both of these women also fight for their beliefs outside of their music. Although, both are fighters. Both are making an impact, and both are advocates. Their messages are different. There is zero heed to compare, they’re both fighting things we should all want. Both are doing what they love, and making a difference.
What Yunjin is really TRYING to do is tell US to help her change the industry along with her, she's telling us to "STOP" these things as it only leads to self hate. As she has wrote in I≠DOLL in an "idol's POV", she points out how idols get hate for the littlest of things they do (for example "oh, they are such a pick me" or "omg their stage presence is so bad") She's not changing THE IDOL INDUSTRY but SHE'S TELLING EVERYONE, FROM COMPANIES, TO FANS, TO ANTIS, TO CHANGE WHAT THEY SAY AND POINT OUT! Continuing that in Love You Twice its in the POV of fans comparing themselves to idols, as if the fans want to be like their idols just like she says "Cause deep inside I wanna be her", meaning the fan wants to be all perfect and everything but what the fan DOESN'T see is that even idols may even be the going through hard times "behind the screen". One huge thing I noticed in Love You Twice is that the "fan" compares even the smallest things to her "idol" for example lighter and clear skin, dieting, working out consistently and even having nice clothes. So if ONLY ALL PEOPLE (ANTIS AND FANS INCLUDED) LEARN TO BE RESPECTFUL, maybe and JUST maybe something might change in this industry, but of course that is NEVER going to happen soon until people really start understanding and spread her message properly without just saying "SHES CHANGING THE IDOL INDUSTRY!" i just wrote an essay help
I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Yunjin, I don't really care for her and le sserafim but I respect what she's doing. She's trying her best but even so I don't see it being very successful. Without the parasocial relationships, the kpop industry falls apart completely. And no matter how many idols speak out against it companies will never change, they never have because it won't be bringing in the bucks. Yunjin's own fans have terrible parasocial relationships with her, asking them to focus on what she's trying to say and spread her message? That requires them to break down their walls first. The kpop industry thrives on what she's trying to fight, and I think that as long as she's a part of it she'll become one of the people encouragingly these parasocial relationships, she already is by flirting with her fans and trying to make it seem like fearnots and lesserafim are friends. Until this method of manipulation used by companies stops bringing in money (which it won't) they won't change. It's sad
Her songs are raw and honest. I get inspired by the message of her songs. I feel heard, inspired, and it makes me wanna be a better person who is able to embrace her own experiences/emotions and also be kinder to people. One of the main things wc made me become a real fan is her songs and the message that she's trying to convey. 💜
Her songs literally are so straight forward, i hope toxic fans get it what she said , or maybe they didn’t idk !! But this girl is doing something amazing and i love it , i want her to keep doing this , i know toxicity will never end , but i just hope , they understand what yunjin means
I love what yunjin is doing ,she has a set goal and is probably gonna achieve it slowly but surely ofc cos change doesn't come over night. People have seen her and they know part of what she stands for already and thats impactful ,but you're right a lotta people see her work and focus on the wrong things instead of the message she's tryna convey so it's the people not yunjin cos she's also singing against those type of people like she said in her song "don't ignore my voice". I hope she keeps doing what she's doing, shes just a rookie and has come this far. She's gonna be a very relevant name in the industry.
If you want to help Yunjin to change the industry, understand the message and start the change with yourself. She can only spread the message but its up to us (fans) to initiate the change: Stop spreading hate, stop toxic fandom wars, stop having unrealistic expectations with your idols, do not patronize shows that exploits minors and many more... the "change" that Yunjin describes, is US. :)
This video is some REAL STUFF. The songs and the message she portrayed is amazing, but what did it really do? Make a few hundred people realize what idols go through from day to day. People watched it then a few hours later start hating on idols because they’re listening but not applying and that’s why she isn’t changing the industry just making songs or like you said spreading a message. I hope she continues and I hope people LISTEN.
i'm really new to this whole kpop thing and i really like yunjin, it's so sad seeing how her message is used against her and her fans in fandom wars, when it's something everybody should be listening to
And literally any industry that involves people being internet celebrities and known figures. Although maybe less often, it also is prevalent with western celebrities. Let’s not forget about J-pop, internet celebrities (TH-camrs, bloggers) and even vtubers….
I wouldn't completely agree with this statement because a similar thing occurs in the West but not necessarily to the same extent. All industries are sucky tbh.
I agree that all industries have an issue of parasocial relationships. But I feel like a lot of them have at least somewhat addressed it in the past like 10 years? For Jpop it definitely started after the world had a lense on them after the Minami incident I remember that being everywhere even on big US news. But as with kpop I feel it hasn't had that lense on them until Jonghyun which is later and since then not much has changed. Like fans are sad....but then still continue, look at Wonyoung. I don't know what shock it'll take for kpop at this point.
I don’t see a lot of people cirticising wonyoung for being “too perfect”. Some criticise her for not bowing to her seniors. Some criticise her for lip-syncing while sitting down, and being a “lazy dancer”. Some also hate her for having Chinese descent (racism alert). I’m not saying these criticisms are valid. Most of them aren’t. But they’re not hating her for being too perfect. In fact I don’t get why some people say Wonyoung is perfect. She’s just very pretty. Pretty doesn’t make you perfect.
That’s the thing. They know how effortlessly she fits into the idol image. There’s nothing reasonable to criticize her on. When you’re deemed as perfect, people are more adamant on pinpointing your imperfections. So when people hate on her for the things you listed, it’s not because they want her to be more perfect. It’s because she essentially is what the “perfect idol” is. And that puts her on a pedestal. To be put on a pedestal means that the slightest contrast to someone’s image of you will cause an emotional outbreak. In my opinion, I think people hate on her for the “problematic” things she does because they’re trying to prove to themselves & others that she’s not perfect. And I’m not saying she’s perfect. That’s a horrible way to describe someone. That’s just the word people use when praising or insulting her. When you’re “too perfect” it forces people to acknowledge how much they lack in themselves. That’s why so many people take everything Wonyoung does or says personally. I hope this made sense. :)
@@catsgonya yep. People want to break down people that are deemed “perfect” to feel better about themselves. Thats why it doesnt seem like a big deal when others do the same “mistakes” wonyoung makes, but it is when wonyoung does it.

They do hate her for being perfect. Most of her and pretty much all female idols' haters are just jealous fangirls who just can't stand seeing a girl their age being so much more famous, successful, richer and prettier than them. The bad, try hard, pick me attitude, bowing bs, etc etc. are all exaggerated to not end; just some stances they use as a cover up for why they actually hate her
banger video. i’d like to add that i think yunjin gets additional leniency from HYBE because she is gyopo. Koreans are less harsh and have less “perfect” expectations for idols from America and they talk more openly about their experiences - Jessi is an example. Le Sserafim also as a group has a concept of being a bold and fearless group of girls. So I think Yunjin was very lucky to be in a group concept that allows her to express herself. If she was native Korean in a group like WJSN or Red Velvet this wouldn’t have happened.
k-pop stans and their "lucky" dialogue lmao. what a backhanded compliment to yunjin. honestly if y'all don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at least. now kpop stans started to have problems with someone's statement too. she wrote a whole song about idol life but literally noone understood the meaning and came here to criticize her
not lucky is talent. one of the deal with hybe was she can be herself and do her own music. do u think if she can't write, sing, compose, draw her own mv and produce song, hybe will take her in since she already back to US for almost 2 years not being a trainee? and these songs aren't solo because it was not promoted. u mean korean idols is all fake personalities since they not allow to express?

OH MY GODDDD I LOVE U FOR THIS VIDEOO Im so shocked that some people actually GET THIS u know?? I thought Im the only one who feel something is off with this whole thing. Thank you for sharing your opinion!! I agree with everything u said. When the first time I saw I≠Doll, I already know abt yunjin's 'ambition' to change the industry, and I LOVE the lyrics and the passion I feel throughout the song. Its clear that SHE CARE a lot abt the massages in it, and I was curious to know what her fans and kpopies think abt it. And u know whatt UR RIGHT, only handfull of ppl on twt actually get the song and care enough to help spread the massages but her FANS.. dude most of them was so proud about her DOING SOMTHNG to change the industry that they forgot to embrace the massage and be the kind of people yunjin hopes them to be. But I think thats also on the company though. They fail to make the song impact full enough for the intentions n massage to be heard more than her persona. But then again why would they do that? They dont want the industry to change, they dont NEED the idol industry to change. So basically I have no idea what will comes for the future for yunjin. I personally like her, I hope she doesnt get discouraged by all this mess and continue to spread the massage in her own way.
Good shit man, you’re 100% correct. Yunjin’s statement was taken in the wrong way, because you can’t change those old fuckers with all the money. All Yunjin can do is spread the message.
i think her approach on wanting to change the idol industry is that she wants to change the restrictions one has when becoming an idol.. so intentionally she wants to have the freedom as an idol to do whatever she likes and to say whatever she likes, without getting criticized left and right. and her music shows this clearly. in my eyes she has already made changes to the industry, because she uses her music as a platform to freely discuss certain experiences (hardships in life) that she has gone through, and that many can relate to. her music sends an important and powerful message, sure not everyone will understand it, and some may hate, but i think we need to credit her more on her bravery and courage to do this.
she’s so real and i appreciate how she show her person. I see her like human and she can sometime be wrong and it’s ok! Please we need to believe more in the humanity, no look these artist and think about robots. It’s my bias and i lover her! (sorry for my english i’m not native)

Reminds me of people criticizing NewJean's OMG and Ditto. There is an issue with parasocial relationships and it hurts both parties, the fans and the idols. Yet so many people could only focus on the song "criticizing their own fans." No one's criticizing any *one,* the song doesn't even imply criticization unless you are among the toxic fans that harm and control idols because of your extreme parasocial relationship. It simply sheds light on the harm parasocial relationships does. It's a sinking ship on both ends.
How can we expect one girl to change the industry when the suicide of idols before hasn’t? It’s sad but it’s the truth, it will take at least a decade before being kind and not competitive will become the atmosphere among fans
First of all,one should know that any change cannot occur overnight, especially a change such big like this. If you want to see a change , it can only occur over time, you have to give time for it.
I am actually so happy that someone said it finally. As a yunjin stan I completely understood what you were talking about and even I felt the same way but your video made it very clear that why i decided to stay with this girl yunjin and i also feel too bad for wonyoung because all the extra miles she goes through to make her a better human like bro wonyoung is not the only person who is trying to be so perfect that even her flaws are noticeable i have seen a lot people who i find so perfect that it actually hurts me that I am not which results in bad relation with such people which i never wanted hence i try not compare myself and appreciate myself for my efforts
She's still a product that's profiting off of this industry, working to earn money for a huge capitalistic company doing whatever her company allows her to do. She's not changing anything. She's still contributing to the problem and using the problem as material/content to further her career/image. Instead of just singing about it, why doesn't she speak out for and defend Wonyoung and all those idols being unfairly hated on in her social media? Or post message that criticize certain people/power in the industry and directly ask her fans to do so? Singing her little songs won't change anything, because she's not really practicing what she preaches. At the end of the day, this is just one of Hybe's clever marketing of their artist.
Agree, her message would be way more powerful if she weren't an idol under one of the biggest companies. She can send a message, and that's great but she's still bringing benefits to all these companies who created these standards in the first place.
Ig she works with what she can? Like if she was just an unknown solo artist no one could even hear her as and if she'd ever tried to critisize any company, they would've just silence her. I mean, sure, i see the point of profiting the industry while trying to critisize it but can anyone really do anything unless they firstly gain a lot of support for big steps?
@@Ola-pv8kl There's no if. NOW, she's already very well known and has influence not many kpop idols have. It's about time she practices what she preaches, right? She now has the power to influence people and actually do something, but I don't see her doing anything other than singing her little songs. As long as she hasn't done anything concrete and substantial in her widely marketed aim of "changing the industry," you can't blame people for thinking it's all just a gimmick for her career. No one else is actually benefiting from her actions other than herself, her group, and her company, earning money and getting more popularity from all these.
She has changed the industry in her own little way. These songs have great messages and if she changed the way even 1 fan or 1 hater thinks of her and her band members, she did change the industry. Is it the massive OVERHAUL you and other may want or expect, no, but it's something. Young trainees may be watching her and think, I wanna be the villain if needed, I wanna play guitar, I wanna differentiate myself by studying opera or an instrument. Who knows. Whatever it is. Her existing and being herself is the change🤷🏽♂️ It's not that deep. I have the wherewithal to know that she is not going to single-handedly deconstruct everything wrong with KPOP, but she does indeed make an admirable contribution, persona or not. No one sits around thinking she is in her room thinking about how she is going fully redefine the landscape of Kpop...no. That is nuts. But the fact that she tries and she makes it apart of who she is and brings all of her worldly experiences to the table is a nice start. Let's not be super critical of these young woman. We don't need to analyze everything they say until it barely even exists. There is no "problem" with her as you expressed in that click bait title. I think Le SSERAFIM are definitely bringing something different to the table in general and the fight for change ain't over yet, so maybe we keep supporting them in the changes they hope to achieve little by little. Rome was not built in a day or whatever the 14 months give or take they have been a band. 🤷🏽♂️ Just saying. Maybe we as consumers set out expectation way too high for these young ladies. They are young. Yes they wanna be taken seriously but they are also in their teens and 20s. They are working hard and also trying to have fun. Let's just enjoy the music. Support those songs with great messages. Stream them. Let's help her make that change. She can and will not do it alone.
I think what she meant was that the majority of people see the idols in the Kpop industry as pretty, decorative “dolls”, inorganically put together by companies in order to gain fame and money, incapable of making any things of their own. I guess the message she and Hype are trying to make is that they’re creating a new generation of idols who are more “outspoken” in a way, and posses real musicality like true artists, rather than just some pretty girls who got picked from an idol factory show. Although she’s not the first idol to compose songs, I think it’s still inspiring for others to see a young girl being so talented and her messages definitely bring attention to her cause.
True. I don’t really put the “changing idol industry” with only yunjin on the pedestal. Kpop stans know many artists who break the standard idol norm in terms of beauty or how they should behave etc etc. but it’s a good thing to have a new gen idol with this mindset. When we say change...no one can ever change other ppl so toxic fans and hate will never be in anyone’s control. What she can start with is idols. The most she can do is be herself and prove that and that’s how she can be an example to other Idols....idols who may hold themselves back, who are sensitive to comments, who are influenced by what fans or the company say about them. Everyone is different so every idol will take their experiences differently. I do believe yunjin is a strong minded person so it’s good to have her around the circle. Smaller company’s may place control on their idols and not receive certain freedoms but you never know if it gives them the courage to speak up one day. Kpop industry is very different from western artists for sure and I feel like fandoms are even more stronger here but sadly I feel like the idol standard for perfection isn’t the only thing forced by companies but also by fans themselves...to the point of looking at every detail. It’s almost scary how idols get cancelled left and right. I think the rise of social media as good as it helps in many things it really kills a lot of things too.
The reality is that it is the same fans who do not let the industry change, after all the companies adapt to the taste of the people. Yunjin, like other idols, only manifest their thoughts in their art, but it is the audience that decides whether to listen to them or not, and that's something idols can't control. Anyway, I appreciate it, maybe they can't make giant changes, but at least they raise the problem.
I feel like Yunjin's words have a little extra weight because she was forced to watch the worst of the kpop industry destroy her friend and fellow member Garam. The hatred, the obsessive nitpicking, the rumors, the objectification, every bad part of kpop hit Garam all at once, and Yunjin couldn't do much to help her because then she would be in Garam's position. I doubt Yunjin will be able to do much to help the industry by herself, but I can appreciate the effort.
Yunjin is really strong. She is my Idol. I Love the way she tries to change the industry for her as much as she can do. I‘m REALLY Glad she does what she can do and Hybe gives her the freedom to do so. Proud of u, yunjin!! Keep going you do an amazing job yunjin
I think she is doing a lot already, she seems very carefree and loud on her opinions while still mantaining the respect the general public and knetz have for her, thats hard to do especially for idols that come from america, they often clash with the culture and it turns out wrong for them how direct and honest they are. It surprises me how good she is keeping it while still being well, very american. She doesnt have to change the culture entirely(and she cant) but if she remains herself, healthy and does what she loves she is already doing a lot
Majority of her fans and Kpop fans in general are young kids. Of course they won’t spread the actual message of the song. Only the older idols with older fandoms can bring true change to the industry
I swear the jealousy and the entitlement from fans. The fans are also kinda the problem because they also expect their idol to fit their image but the idols dont know what image they actually want. So the companies and the fans also have huge impact on the on the idols appearance. Fans complain about woonyoung being too perfect?? But isnt that what they wanted?? Or are the fans just incredibly jealous and envy them so much to the point they hate on idols for being too perfect??? The fans are also incredibly hypocritical. Something needs to change.
This is why I love Yunjin, she's really talking about things so many people are so worried to talk about even though everyone knows those things happen and are painful. She also was capable to deliver her message in a better way thanks to her vocal skills (interpretation quality), but not only that, she also was capable to talk about their own insecurities as idols, also her insecurities as a human being and trying to deliver the message that idols ARE HUMAN BEINGS too. People need to stop thinking they're perfect or they have to be perfect or they have to be the best example for everyone, they are human beings with their insecurities, flaws, virtues, way of thinking, vision of life, preferences, etc. I hate when people start hating an idol just because they don't like him/her when in real life, when you don't like someone, you just don't stay around that person and that's it, it doesn't change your daily life. Just support someone when you like what he's doing and don't listen if you don't like it. The only thing to spread if you wanna spread something, it's love and support, sharing with people that idol / group that you like, accepting there will be people that won't like it, keep your mind opened.
as a person who was listening only to melodic death/death/folk metal (still am sometimes) the thing that was pushing me back the most from my friends' most beloved kpop was the industry itself like all this just felt so unreal so fake all idols were just too perfect for me but eventually i fell into that too cause that parasocial relasionship is really appealing in a way when your life is just a fucked up mess but few years later i realised that i am now a part of a problem that i was against back then and this is just crazy like i always thought that i cant fall into that that i was there just for some new music but its not the case after all and that is just crazy and so big that i dont even think that something will ever change that i dont know how to fight it myself cause in the end its just everything i have just this parasocial relationship with the idols and i dont have anything else thats the biggest problem that is hard to change and it will take enourmous amount of strength and time to get rid of idk what needs to happen to change that like the whole new generation of companies and idols and fans who really want to change that but cause companies have profit of all that i dont think it will change untill fans stop massively donating in it
Yunjin can't change the industry, but with that said she can influence those who have that power, by putting light onto sensitive subjects that are put in the dark, people can see those things and start to talk about them and eventually the more people talk the more people who can do something about it will hear, and if they decide to do something about it then yunjin has done what she said she'd do, all she had to do was start the talking of it, that's how everything changes. We don't just sit around and think about changing things, we mention it, and someone hears it then thinks on it, agrees with us (or disagrees that happens too) and then passes it on, and it keeps going until a large number of people communitively agree or disagree. Someone with the power to change something may be in that crowd and eventually something may change, the first step is always realization that something is wrong, or something can be changed, then you talk about it, and that's exactly what yunjin is doing, but her efforts will only work if we listen
I think Yujin has already begun changing the Idol Industry. She will NOT be able to completely change it because it'll obviously take more than just her but the fact she has people talking and thinking about stuff is proof she is already starting and doing a fantastic job at changing the Idol Industry. Step by step!
she can, will and IS changing the industry - change doesn't have to be massive and baby steps count towards a larger common goal that isn't just hers and is shared by many. Hwasa is the same in this sense, though more so for freedom of expression and shattering the korean beauty standards. and it took hwasa many years to reach that point, you cant expect Yunjin to "change" the industry in a powerful and obvious way within less than a year of her debut - you need to give her time to develop her skillset, gain popularity and build connections in the industry in order for that to happen.
idk I find it hard to believe someone who conforms to standards (skin whitening) And is signed to a company that earns million a year from the broken idol industry and trainees (which she did) can change it from within…if that was her mission she would’ve not even been an idol at all. at the end it’s all just a persona because being different is the new trend. Hybe knows this and has used to their advantages
but first i have to say this. your videos are so well-made! i mean the editing, the pacing, the commentary, all par excellence. you definitely are doing something different, and kudos for that! anyhoo the video explained very well the dilemma of idols and their "personas". fans need to be mindful of these unhealthy fictional stories and archetypes that they get fed and proliferate further. and that can only happen when they really understand the root of all this.
Tldr of these comments: Yunjin is an idol, and even if hybe allowed her quote of 'I want to change the idol industry' into her introduction video, just by talking about a want to change could inspire and cause the change. The fans consuming the music do have to take charge and boycott and resist to change the industry. The idols have to be supportive of these changes and, if they want to, adapt to it. The companies have to listen to its consumers. Everything is based upon the fans.
I feel like when Yunjin said she wanted to change the kpop industry, she doesent mean her specifically changing the kpop industry..Her main idea is sending us songs like Doll so we can realize the problem with us fans and change the kpop industry ourselves. Cuz lets be honest, no idol can change the kpop industry because there not the once causing scandals, accusations, bodyshame, disrespect and fanwars.. Its us fans who are causing these which means its only us who can stop them. Yunjin made us fans realize from her song the amount of scandals we cause can seriously affect a kpop idols career and its OUR job to stop them from happening.
what bothers me is also the fact that even when people DO listen to the song, they do not focus on the lyrics but instead only focus on the fact that yunjin's the one who wrote it which completely goes against what she's trying to convey. i mean, in i≠doll, she clearly says something along the lines of "i'm not just a pretty face, i want my voice to be heard and to be treated like a human" yet people misregard what she tries to say which is a shame. i wonder, if she didn't say that her pre-debut video, would the impacts of her songs be any different?
if no one has the mindset of wanting change then nothing is going to change. It's not about how realistic her dream is. They also used to say human can't fly and then someone invented planes and paragliders...
Like the message in OMG from Newjeans, kpop fans make kpop idols crazy with impossible expectations to meet and the kpop industry won't change because the main problem are kpop fans who won't change
2:10 ok, but I also think it comes from the different cultures. Like she has lived in the states and Korea long enough to know the toxicity of the industry and wants to change it. She wants her juniors not to be criticised for weight gain or their visual. She wants the to create music and perform. The real reason why people become idols. I might be wrong but it's my opinion.
It just makes me so sad that people like this completly chalge the whole message. Yunjin is just tryna change the industry and she is right. The industry is too toxic anyways, she just wants all the idols to be able to speak out and you can clearly hear it in her songs. People like you just change everything to bring her down or smth. Just stop please, we finally got an idol that speaks out. Let's support yunjin

In simple words. People will listen to the song for yunjin, not for the message of the song and that's why nothing is gonna change
If they only listen for streaming purpose then yeah it won't 🥲
@@margarete5920 sadly thats how it is nowadays. its all about numbers..
Well I know it's quite rare but I love her for her lyrics...
I think I forgot where I was going with this
So true 💀 that's what I also did
It makes me so upset that people will try to do whatever it takes to put someone down.
That’s ridiculous and defeating the point of what idols like Yunjin and Soyeon are trying to do in the first place.
yes! well put
Vary well said
Exactly
Yunjin can do actually nothing to change the industry, she can just convey a message through her song as she is an artist an influential person , but if her fans don’t understand what message she is giving and doesn’t try to reflect on it nothing will happen
At the end , fans need to change , fans need to first of all love songs not idols, we came here for music , but now it seems , kpop fans are not here for music but just to obsess over people they don’t know , we love idols and singers cause we love their songs , we don’t love songs because we love the idols , it will be fucked up that way
real, agree.
yes.
Sth interesting when I was at college in south Korea. my korean language teacher(who was a Korean himself) asked me if I am a bts fan and I said yes I'm an army. He asked again "do you like all bts songs?" I said no. Then he said "then your not a real army!"
I was really surprised to hear that and first was like what the?! But then I realized how this industry is to Korean people.
Fans dont listen to kpop idols. They just see them as machines and have high expectations for them but they also deny that they dont have high expectations for their idols. What ever these idols say people won't take them seriously and think that their just being problematic, quirky, trying to act different from other idols but they are simply just trying to spread a message.
fr
the way yunjins message completely went over peoples heads this song isn’t going to simply change the industry unless kpop stans participating in such behaviour like bashing and judging female idols unprovoked reflect on if what they are doing is worth it .
yunjin didn’t just release these songs to have a quirky “not like other girls“ moment but to show how idols aren’t these perfect mannequins on display for you to pick apart. when I listened to i≠doll I immediately thought of wonyoung and the way she went from loved during her time in both produce 48 and iz*one to being hated for literally no reason now . some of you completely disregard the message being emphasised here .
i think y’all are just overanalyzing her statement. she claimed she wanted to “change the idol industry”, not flip it all around. idk where “parasocial relationships” came from, but she’s not responsible for changing things like that. it’s pretty obvious she’s trying to set a new MINDSET and be vocal about it (since a lot of idols do think similarly but don’t share it). change can be small. it does NOT have to be a dramatic change to be considered making a difference.
@@eangal 8:39 watch this until the end.
Considering the current situation the idol industry won't change unless some company decides to monopolize the whole industry with the aim of "changing" it
And it won't happen just like he said cause if it did the industry will cease to exist

Los fans de la big4 le atribuyen todo a sus grupitos y solo son una marioneta y se viven robando ideas de agencias chicas y medianas, por ejemplo Yunjin es una copia (fallida) de Soyeon

So if ONLY ALL PEOPLE (ANTIS AND FANS INCLUDED) LEARN TO BE RESPECTFUL, maybe and JUST maybe something might change in this industry, but of course that is NEVER going to happen soon until people really start understanding and spread her message properly without just saying "SHES CHANGING THE IDOL INDUSTRY!"
i just wrote an essay help
I think they understand, but it just not at the top of their priorities which suck.
The “Problem” with Huh Yunjin is that she’s perfect and there’s only one of her 😩
i'm really new to this whole kpop thing and i really like yunjin, it's so sad seeing how her message is used against her and her fans in fandom wars, when it's something everybody should be listening to
"The parasocial relationship is what sapared separates the kpop industry from all others industries" don't forget about the J-pop industry
The idol industry's biggest problem is the fans, most of the time.

I dont think Won want act perfect but being more free
@@Sammmm85the commenter didn’t say anything mean ??
I never seen any yunjin fans hating on anyone just so you know alot of token stans love yunjin use her pics
I've noticed this too , a lotta ppl just use her pictures for aesthetic and don't even Stan her.actual yunjin fans I've seen are actually so cool and sweet !
@@lizzymusa6525 token Stans use pretty girls pics then they start a fight with other fandoms after that we have to clean it up I like kpop to have fun and fan girl not to police other people
Now let's Yunjin to make a song revolving this video so people can finally understand what she's tryna do 🗣️🗣️
i rlly love all your videos, your literally the one kpop ytber that actually has points i can agree on, i rlly thank you for making videos like this its very enlightening and rlly puts a spotlight on problems surrounding the industry itself. thank you so much for the hard work you put in your vids 🫡🫡
thankyou for watching!!
OH MY GODDDD I LOVE U FOR THIS VIDEOO
Im so shocked that some people actually GET THIS u know??
If Yunjin wants to change the industry, she needs to create an idol union or smh😅
She wants to change the mindset of fans not the whole industry
Underrated king fr
i think her approach on wanting to change the idol industry is that she wants to change the restrictions one has when becoming an idol.. so intentionally she wants to have the freedom as an idol to do whatever she likes and to say whatever she likes, without getting criticized left and right. and her music shows this clearly. in my eyes she has already made changes to the industry, because she uses her music as a platform to freely discuss certain experiences (hardships in life) that she has gone through, and that many can relate to. her music sends an important and powerful message, sure not everyone will understand it, and some may hate, but i think we need to credit her more on her bravery and courage to do this.
There're reasons why many idols end their life too early. The pressure and undeserve hate they got are just unreal.
she’s so real and i appreciate how she show her person. I see her like human and she can sometime be wrong and it’s ok! Please we need to believe more in the humanity, no look these artist and think about robots. It’s my bias and i lover her! (sorry for my english i’m not native)
Jennifer AKA Yunjin
is so pure, sweet and down to earth.
how can you not love her? she always tries her best to make a incredible performance, she's so sweet to her members and i think all of them are really close AND she always tries to make something Negative Turn to something Positive!
If you hate her i wonder why actually..
for her Being Yunjin (unproblematic, sweet and caring)
OR
just because she's talented and can't stand seeing someone that's not your fave being succesfull?
Please stop hating guys she alr suffered so muchh:
-dating scandal
-Being evil edited by a survival show>getting an INANE amount of hate> Eliminated
-(WHOLE) lesserafim getting hate because one Ex- member had a bullying scandal (she got kicked out but it was confirmed that she was inoccent later..)
-For her Voice (she's an opera singer and has a really beautyfull and unique voice but alot of people are saying it sounds weird and deep wich i don't agree with, im so done with those high pitched voices im glad lesserafim got atleast 1/2 member with a deep voice)
- (WHOLE) lesserafim is always getting hate before their comeback..it's okay to not like a song but bfrr rn- the song didn't came out.. and almost every fandom is accusing them of Copying this/that OR for it to sound off.. Just sit your ass down and wait for it to drop... all their comebacks got hate before it got released BUT they all went viral.. We really don't need everything to repeat again.. istg somethimes im just so done with these 12YO kpoppies that think only their faves are #1 talented, sweet and beautyfull humans...
This video is real eye opener and I find it exceptional.
the problem isnt yunjin. it's the people.
Reminds me of people criticizing NewJean's OMG and Ditto. There is an issue with parasocial relationships and it hurts both parties, the fans and the idols. Yet so many people could only focus on the song "criticizing their own fans."
No one's criticizing any *one,* the song doesn't even imply criticization unless you are among the toxic fans that harm and control idols because of your extreme parasocial relationship. It simply sheds light on the harm parasocial relationships does. It's a sinking ship on both ends.
This channel is so underrated, like the quality of his videos, his content,...
He need more recognition imo, one of my fav ktuber honestly
thankyouu!!

If you want to see a change , it can only occur over time, you have to give time for it.
i love her sm, she is amazing and atp she is someone I look up to often
thought this was gonna be some clickbait title, but thank fuck- it went exactly where i was hoping. preach it, man!
See? This is just way too confusing and complex. I agree with both sides
No one else is actually benefiting from her actions other than herself, her group, and her company, earning money and getting more popularity from all these.
yeah tbh it does feel a bit like trying to have your cake and eat it too
She has changed the industry in her own little way.
This video is literally a blessing
I think the rise of social media as good as it helps in many things it really kills a lot of things too.
this VIDEO SHOULD GET VIRAL idaf or nothings gonna change u are wise omg omg omg my eyes opened frfr
This video needs to be put there. Every Kpop fan should watch this!
I doubt Yunjin will be able to do much to help the industry by herself, but I can appreciate the effort.
perfect way to explain
YOU JUST SPILLED EVERYTHING I HAD TO SAY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Yunjin is really strong. She is my Idol. I Love the way she tries to change the industry for her as much as she can do. I‘m REALLY Glad she does what she can do and Hybe gives her the freedom to do so.
Proud of u, yunjin!! Keep going you do an amazing job yunjin
and nowww she’s in a controversy 👁️👄👁️…
I think she is doing a lot already, she seems very carefree and loud on her opinions while still mantaining the respect the general public and knetz have for her, thats hard to do especially for idols that come from america, they often clash with the culture and it turns out wrong for them how direct and honest they are. It surprises me how good she is keeping it while still being well, very american. She doesnt have to change the culture entirely(and she cant) but if she remains herself, healthy and does what she loves she is already doing a lot
Finally someone who made this clear.
Love your channel!! Thanks for the great vids :)
thankyouu!!
if the industry has changed, the idol job will be no more, only singer, comedian, actors and etc.
I love your videos so much please make more of theseee
The only thing to spread if you wanna spread something, it's love and support, sharing with people that idol / group that you like, accepting there will be people that won't like it, keep your mind opened.
this video is so well framed. awesome work dude
as a person who was listening only to melodic death/death/folk metal (still am sometimes) the thing that was pushing me back the most from my friends' most beloved kpop was the industry itself like all this just felt so unreal so fake all idols were just too perfect for me but eventually i fell into that too cause that parasocial relasionship is really appealing in a way when your life is just a fucked up mess but few years later i realised that i am now a part of a problem that i was against back then
and this is just crazy like i always thought that i cant fall into that that i was there just for some new music but its not the case after all
and that is just crazy and so big that i dont even think that something will ever change that
i dont know how to fight it myself cause in the end its just everything i have just this parasocial relationship with the idols and i dont have anything else
thats the biggest problem that is hard to change and it will take enourmous amount of strength and time to get rid of
idk what needs to happen to change that like the whole new generation of companies and idols and fans who really want to change that but cause companies have profit of all that i dont think it will change untill fans stop massively donating in it
“Love you twice”is such a good song
i just discovered your channel and omg I can't stop watching your videos they are so interesting, u deserve many more followers
never been this early but i love your videos!!!
If only their fans were not such bullies
Since when did we bully anyone?💀
I think Yujin has already begun changing the Idol Industry. She will NOT be able to completely change it because it'll obviously take more than just her but the fact she has people talking and thinking about stuff is proof she is already starting and doing a fantastic job at changing the Idol Industry. Step by step!
Yunjin is amazing and so is this video!
the problem isn’t yunjin it’s people 😂
she can, will and IS changing the industry - change doesn't have to be massive and baby steps count towards a larger common goal that isn't just hers and is shared by many.
Hwasa broke KBS and brought a change without claiming anything, The company and Mamamoo did no media play
All of these were genuine from her side.
idk I find it hard to believe someone who conforms to standards (skin whitening) And is signed to a company that earns million a year from the broken idol industry and trainees (which she did) can change it from within…if that was her mission she would’ve not even been an idol at all. at the end it’s all just a persona because being different is the new trend. Hybe knows this and has used to their advantages
but first i have to say this. your videos are so well-made! i mean the editing, the pacing, the commentary, all par excellence. you definitely are doing something different, and kudos for that! anyhoo the video explained very well the dilemma of idols and their "personas". fans need to be mindful of these unhealthy fictional stories and archetypes that they get fed and proliferate further. and that can only happen when they really understand the root of all this.
i really loved how you explain this
Tldr of these comments:
Yunjin is an idol, and even if hybe allowed her quote of 'I want to change the idol industry' into her introduction video, just by talking about a want to change could inspire and cause the change.
I might be wrong but it's my opinion.
songs can't change the world, but songs can change people, and people can change the world
It's not impossible. The kpop industry is slowly changing, not because of Yunjin, but it's definitely changing
im a person who doesnt have a bias or favorite Kpop group. i just like the music and the choreography
❤❤❤❤ im fan of LSRFM and i love Yunjin, but just that the bc i love, for the message
People are literally dying in the industry and still.. no change. At all.
She’s amazing
she won't change the idol industry, she'll just be 1 idol who's different and some might find it weird, some might find it iconic lol that's all
one individual wont change the industry but a community might not too it may be hard but trends die so maybe their standards may change one day
