    I remember this song from 5 decades ago: Aunt Freddie played it all Summer long in '75: J.B. wrote it in late '74, it was No. 2 Pop and #8 R&B in early 1975! I thought Barry White wrote it at first, till a few years prior!!

    Oh how well I can remember hearing this man Johnny Bristol singing this song everywhere I went, and it was a massive hit record for him. I was 15 at that time, which was in 1974, when this song swept through everywhere like an extremely very intense high fever of love. It makes me greatly reminince and still feel the same spirit when I hear this song today even at the age of my blessed years of now being 63 years old. I love Jonny Bristol, and he was a very sexy handsome man. May he rest in peace. I want to thank him for the love and beautiful music he brought to all of us throughout the world, although I am an American.

      ❤ my siblings and my mom always had competition at home. We all won at our formative talent years. My mom suggested a talent performance. My brother went first. Followed by my little sister, next to last, was my sister who is older. I went last. And I didn't disappoint. I lip synced "hang on in there baby!" And of course I won. I remember mom just sitting on the couch with her beautiful smile. It was just like yesterday.

      I've listened to this song a million times, but I just realized it has a very subtle sexual undertone to the lyrics. That's the genius of music in the 70's. The music was so good, the nuance was sometimes missed.

    I can't have enough of this song. I'm a young cat born in the 90's but my friend and work colleague introduced me to this oldie. Ever since then I played this song almost everyday. Is so sad good songs like this are not done anymore. Record labels just want to do whatever and make money. Is all about money now and not good music it breaks my heart.

    The radio just played this song, and I almost lost it. I love this song. It took me back down memory lane. I was looking through my rear view mirror. This song sounds better today than yesterday. Yesssss

    Such a brilliant song...it's like a mix of Motown & Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra. Reminds me of Robert Palmer too...would've been so nice if he had done a version of it.

    • @MrCarltonjsmith
      @MrCarltonjsmith 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh shit!
      I always caught the Barry White vibe, but I never heard the Robert Palmer vibe until you mentioned it.
      And I'm a Robert Palmer fiend.
      I wish Robert had covered this.
      This increases my already immense love and appreciation for this song.
      Thank you Benton86

      ABC's 1970s Golf Tour made me fall eternally in love with this superlative Melody. They used it as the bumper music for their tourney footage for years. I used to get to the point where the strings crescendo perfectly and shout joyously for no benefit except my own: "GOLF MUSIC!" Thank You Mr. Johnny Bristol for allowing me to revisit my childhood. And I thank all of You for indirectly revisiting mine. Eventually I turn out okay. ☺🎤🏌️‍♂️⛳B.W.

    Former Motown songwriter & producer Johnny Bristol really hit the big time when he released this now timeless classic, it became a worldwide smash, from the 1974 album Hang On In THere, a track he wrote, sang, arranged & produced
