Quick demo of this MARLIN Sidewinder 'strat' style guitar.
I believe these were the top selling guitars in the world for a year or two in the late 1980's and were hugely popular.
This one has a humbucker at the bridge and is available now from DEBEN MUSIC, Felixstowe.
Thanks to Coffeebreakgrooves for the backing track. - บันเทิง
I owned one of these in the late 80's... I still regret selling it. The beginning of decent, affordable, modern electrics.
I had a silver one, bought it in 1988. I learned a lot on it but it was a heavy lump
i love that colour ! i just bought a red one for £90 from a cash generator in redruth cornwall .. it sounds and plays great
Yes, great guitar for that kind of money!
If any one still rocks one of these badboys....... Well one of these lol I have upgraded billet blocks being made to replace the crumbling cast items
my first ever guitar and i loved it, i still keep a beady eye open for a good example, id love another one, great playing btw.
Thanks. Sent you a reply (Facebook message from Deben music) about it
One on face book for £60 in the uk
Got a cherry red one with the humbucker replaced but the original still with it. Great sounding budget guitar and they look great with the gloss 🤘
Great that there seems to be a few of these still lurking about!
sounds amazing Mark
Thanks
Very nice.
Thanks
The Marlin inlay looks really cool ☺
Yes, makes it a little bit different to the usual Strat copies.
hey mate, nice play. wich backing track is that exactely? thx greetz.
Thanks. I'm afraid I can't remember the name of it now, sorry! They sent me a few to play over. I now make my own ones.
My first! It played better than most actually. Including the big names.
Yes, if you get a good one these are great.
That pickguard shape is now on some Patrick James Eggle '96 guitars. Do a comparison and you will notice it's the same.
Ahh yes. Well spotted.
Great playing..👍🏼
I found one on Facebook market, wonder if I can confidently get that .. about £100 GBP.
Thanks. Go for it.
That's a k-34 the second iteration with a humbucker in the neck but an early one still as it has the marlin at the 12th I believe 86 they dropped it and went with double dots
I just picked up a k-32 the first model with the rail in the neck, have a video of strip down should anyone be interested in the guys of these things
Thanks for the info!
The Marlin inlay was not removed until August 1988:
samick.fandom.com/wiki/K-32
Mike it's a strange one that wiki says they dropped the marlin logo Aug 88, but if I'm reading right also says stopped production 88, so does that mean there was a few month runout period before 89 using double dots, that would make them realy rare...... Of to ebay lol
@@mikey1981g Well, not quite; in 1989 the production switched from Samick to Cort. I believe Cort kept making Sidewinders for a few years. Also, these guitars were mass produced, so even within a few months they would produce thousands.
Love your playing mate. Great track aswell, what you playing over ?
Thanks. I'm not sure where that track came from - sorry!
great playing ! Guitar sounds so Strat! Probably better than most Strasts do!
Thanks! Yes, they are good pickups in these. This one's still available...
