- Meeting my daughter Miranda for the very first time on ValentinesDay Feb.14 2011. I never knew I had a daughter until she found me on facebook, and messaged me. We spoke all nite long on the telephone, and decided that we had to meet. I booked her a round trip ticket to NEW YORK CITY at 11pm and we met at 9:30a.m that morning. I can't explain in words how I felt the moment I saw her, knowing that she's my daughter that I never knew exisited. Well I'm proud to say that we are not only best friends but we are closer than anything. We see each several times a year, and we talk on the phone all the time. Her mother and I separated, and I never saw her again. She never told me that she was pregnant I never knew. When my daughter was 15 she told her that I was her biological father and she searched for me ever since until that nite. Its hard missing out on all of those years, but at least now I am in her life, and would do anything for her. Thank you everybody for your comments, I hope this video will give inspiration to others that are searching for their mom and dad's to never give up.

Thank you all again for all the kind words and support! I want to give everyone an update since it has been highly requested... I am now 24 years old (soon to be 25) and have a beautiful 1 year old daughter. My dad drove over 400 miles to be at the hospital with me when I went into labor. So I guess you can say my dad is not only the best dad in the world but also the best grandpa to my little girl Fiona Grace. Our relationship has grown so much since the first time we met and continues to grow every day. Because he lives so far we don’t get to see each other as often as we would like to, but we do talk on the phone and video chat everyday. After seeing how many people are so interested in knowing our story and wanting an update, my dad and I are planning to make and upload a follow up video soon, so please stay tuned!

@Ryan Halpin clearly if she has stopped visiting you all together, it isn't just "something stupid" to her. Maybe try empathizing with her instead of dismissing her feelings. Everybody wants to feel "heard", especially by our parents. Never too late to try and mend a broken relationship.

I found out that i had a daughter feb 13,2011. She found out that i was her real father at age ten. She has been searching for me ever since. She found me on facebook, and my entire life has changed because of this beautiful angel. I cant describe in words the moment we reached out to each other. Im the happiest father in the entire world. I wanted to thank you for sharing this moment. I've only recently reunited with my daughter after 20 years (she found me). I can only hope and pray that our reunion goes as well as what yours did. Thank you so very much for sharing and helping those of us that are still trying to get to where you are now, keep the faith and keep hope alive.

wow, this video really made me realize how blessed I am to have been born into a complete and loving family. Sometimes, we tend to take the most important things for granted, simply because they've always been there for us. Mum, Dad, Sis, Bro, I love you all X')
This brings tears to my eyes for a personal reason.
My wife cheated on me and took my 3 children 2 states away and remarried twice. She told lies about me, badmouthed me to the children, lied to local law enforcement about me to the point where when I showed up to see the kids, they jailed me for 72 hours.
I was broken.
I have since regained my relationship with my two sons, but...
My daughter blames me for everything that led to a failed marriage and she won’t return texts or calls.
I refuse to let life’s injustice get me down. My sons are awesome! I’m getting a granddaughter from one son in 24 hours and life is pretty good....
But it could be better.
Same thing kinda happening to my brother who's going thru a divorce. Hopefully your sons will slowly work some common sense into their sister. It hurts but it's not your fault. Time will tell. Might take awhile but I think she'll come around. Good luck.

I truly hope your daughter has come around! I never knew my father, he committed suicide when I was 2 years old. Oh how I wish I had the chance to have a relationship with him! I wish you all the best. Your daughter doesn’t know how lucky she is...
As far as your daughter is concerned, she's not giving you a chance. Sometimes we have to let go of the things or people we can't fix. Let her know when and if she's ready, your their for her. In the meantime ENJOY the hell out of your sons and new granddaughter. That's a lot to live for!
Hang in there and enjoy your sons & grandchild for now at least. You've done nothing wrong it seems so you need not feel any shame. I hate to say it, but there's every chance the daughter you speak of may be exactly like her mother so maybe you're going to be better off with contact with the 2 sons only for now and maybe down the road she'll see sense. As a Father myself of girls, I can’t begin to imagine the overflowing of pent up love & anguish that would boil over the moment you held your daughter for the very first time, my oldest daughter is about the same age as your daughter here, and like yours is a lovely young lady , but when she lays her sweet head on my shoulder & nestles herself into my arms, to me, she’s the same innocent infant angel I held as a baby.
I love my girls so Very much, I’m a wreck when I spend a few days apart from them, I couldn’t bear to spend a long time without them...
That would truly break this Marines heart!
I’m so happy for both of them! 6 yrs ago I saw a picture of my father for the first time, I was 55 years old. My father died a few years before I found him.

I long for the day i can be reunited with my daughter.. to the fathers and mothers being denied a meaningfull relationship. dont ever give up on your wish to be part of your childs life. To the children, young and older who jave been hurt all i can say is im sorry for your pain. There may be things said about the parent but dont belive everthing you hear. Find, srarch for the truth because chances are they are out there waiting and love you

Hope some day my daughter will search me, i am 41 she 15, seen her only the first year of her life. My ex, made my life very difficult , blocked me on everything and moved to a unknow town. So i didn't seen her 14 years, don't know how she looks like. No matches on social media (and also not via friends) Still hoping my day will come. nice video gives me some hope

Not a lot of hugs from my dad when growing up but he still loved me. It's just not the way some people express it.
Taylor, sometimes our parents do not know how to hug because perhaps they never experienced it themselves. You give your dad the kind of hug you wish you had from him and keep doing it until it feels natural to him. You will not regret it. Sometimes the children need to be the teachers.

This made me cry !!!!!my parents divorced when i was 4 and from then my dad moved to live in germany ,he didnt care about me, he didnt even want to come and see me....im 13 now ,and for 9 years i have not had any contact with him!!! i wish i could come and see my dad, i miss him :'( x

Long ago I met up w/my Mom after 10 years. Man was I nervous on the plane "What if we don't like each other? What if we have nothing in common?" Turns out, she was having the same thoughts. Well, it worked out just fine, and I gained an awesome Stepdad in the process. DON'T let a chance like this pass you by.

I just recently meet my 23 year old daughter. Moved to Utah to get to know her 😞 In the end we don't talk. She's was disappointed I don't have a lot of money. Because I don't own a house. Was just a server working in her town. I dropped everything to move here for her. I was a manager at a restaurant in Iowa when she found me. I had a nice apartment. But I had to start all over when I moved to be near her. Never took the time to get to know me. Just went out to party with friends. Bought her everything she needed to do her dream job as a Hair Nail stylist. Got her an expensive Barber Chair and Spa/Eyelash table. So she can do it out of her own place and even made flyers and past them around her town. She wants nothing to do with me. BTW when she turned 18 her mom told her "she wants nothing to do with her anymore because she ruined her teenage years" 😞 now I'm in a state I'm not familiar with and my 2 other kids are far away. Never felt so alone
@man with no name Hang tight right there. You're a good person and a good dad. Hope someday she'll realize her mistakes and make amends. For now I hope you take care of yourself during these times especially with the pandemic and all.
Family is highly overrated. You made the attempt and it just cost you time and money. No big deal. Sometimes you may have to wait till she either grows up or wait even longer. Get back to where you feel good and get your life back on track. If you are not happy, you cannot expect to make others happy. At least you have 2 other kids that may like to see you now that you have moved.
Wow thank you all for the support. I'm not gonna give up on her like her mom did. Her friends have a big influence on all this. At 1st we spent a lot of time together. I think her friends got jealous. I'm gonna give her space and time. She's 22 and I hope she comes around. Again thank you all
When shared DNA meets one another, there's nothing that can deny the bond between a father and daughter that is reflected in the eyes at that moment they connect ... even after all those years , and we all just witnessed this. Truly amazing and wonderful to see. Hope the bond has become even stronger.

Amen but its happening all the time. I have a son in that situation now. His kids mother won't let him have anything to do with them.
But when she knew he didn't want kids what was she supposed to do, abort?

This video breaks my heart...in 1995 my mom had a boyfriend she was with for 2 years, when she got pregnant (at 16) my grandmother moved her away and she had no way of contacting the father of her child...im almost 17 now and all ive wanted my entire life is to find and meet my father...my mum just told me she has known about him for the last 6 months...he died in 2003...none of you have any idea how lucky you are...id do anything to meet my dad the way she met hers...makes me cry every time

I'm watching this video my tears running like a river, I have a 13year old daughter I last saw her when she was just born my ex kicked me out and blocked me from everything, as a poor man I can't I afford the contact court order fees, because of the social media I can only watch the photos of my daughter, on Facebook page that I'm not allowed to communicate with her as she is under age. breaks my heart every day to know that I have child but I'm not allowed to see of my ex girlfriend s rights as mother, I have nothing no rights. I'm hoping the best out come when she finds out.

This father is a REAL man!
Adults need to be honest with children. I know you have to protect them, but they do grow up and will make their own decisions. My cousin's boyfriend was terrible to her, but she never denied him his daughter. He was an incredible father but not the kind of guy who is a good husband. His daughter is now 30 and she is doing really well in her life and career, and he is now an incredible grandfather. He said that if he could by pass the mother he would of had loads of kids. There are lots of men like him.
Yes. In this case the mother bares most of the power. In the sense that if she doesn't want the father in the child's life it is very difficult for a teenager to go against the only parent who's ever supported her/him.
Congrats to you both. I wish ya the best. I wish I could have met my birth-father but he died in 1993. I did meet my birth-mother in 2010 after 30 years apart.

This is so sweet and some will not tell the other parent about the child. I have a 2 coworkers who've manage to do that I have constantly told them they are wrong. That's not fair to the child nor their fathers. Some people are selfish but glad you still meet him enjoy life. This was sweet.

I met my birth father when I was 35 and it was the best 6 months of my entire life. My mother never told him she was pregnant either so he didn’t know I existed for 35 years. Before he died I got to know what a father is and my kids got to know what a grandfather who loved them was like. It was amazing. Sadly he died of complications from our genetic cancer after six months but our memories will last a lifetime. I’m so happy this has become so wonderful for you two.

I was adopted when I was only 5days old, never new my mother and father growing up. 32 yrs later I found my siblings only to find out that my Mon died the same yr my daughter was born, of cause I was deviated because when my daughter was born I was living 10 mins from where she lived, as for my father my older sister is not sure if he's still alive. At least I could meet one of them, but I new why I was adopted. I have two bueatiful children, and it not always easy, but they still live with me,and lover them dearly.

I met my dad in 2015 when I was 29...and 3 brothers and sisters I didn't know I had(all half siblings). We had a long hug too, and tears. We lived 2 hours apart all that time. He drove a logging truck, and had driven by my home many times. He said "There was a black lab that would lay out on the highway in the sun, and she wouldn't move for anything, just sat there wagging her tail, so I would honk at her". That was my dog, and I remember yelling at my dog to get off the road when I heard the truck horn
