This trailer gives me the chills, bringing back the exact same feeling that the 1979 mini-series gave me. There's nothing quite like a silhouetted figure sitting in the dark, or peering in a second story window with creepy glowing eyes. And the Gordon Lightfoot music is the "chef's kiss." Can't wait to see this one!
Thanks to Eric, Rick, Calvin and Aaron! 🧛♀ I read this novel in grade school, loved the 1979 miniseries, appreciated aspects of the 2004 miniseries... and have been waiting for several years as this one got delayed and pushed back. But, wow, it looks so good!!!
@@shercahn Rob Lowe is the lead, if that's a selling point for ya. 🤓 It's worth comparing if you can find it... but I think the original is more effective.

@@brendanoconnor1550Brandon Tenold's Cult Movie Review of Creepshow is hilarious. He said King not only played Jordie but also did most of the production jobs to "work off his excess energy", let's say. From the stories, especially around the "Maximum Overdrive" production, I think there was probably a pretty long period of time that King does not remember a lot about. Not judging. And proud of him that he apparently beat his chemical demon. But, it was in control mostly for a time, from the stories.
I’m REALLY looking forward to this! Not because it’s a good story (which it IS), but because it brings us a step closer to The Tower. If you know, you know, say thankya. 🌹🐢
You know how we all have a movie that scared the crap out of us as kids? The 1979 Salem’s Lot was that movie for me. I was terrified to look out the window at night.
Has the creepy factor of the '79 TV movie. Directed by Tobe Hooper. I had nightmares for years about something tapping at my window. Scared the crap out of me.
The town was founded in the 1600s, and was originally called Jerusalem's Lot. Jerusalem's was shortened to 'Salem's over time. Per the Castle Rock series, Derry, Castle Rock, and 'Salem's Lot are pretty close together. The Shawshank Prison is also nearby.
I'm surprised Aaron didn't make the Midnight Mass connection. It was inspired by Salem's Lot and the latter half of the trailer kinda reminded me of it
I'm currently rereading the book in anticipation of the newest adaptation. Looking forward to watching this! I love that they left the little touch of the house slipper falling off her foot. It's the little things.
Stephen King, is an amazing writer. Sometimes the adaptions of his novels are not the best. But the original Salem's Lot, movie was so good. Excited to seeif it can be done better.
One of the few books that legitimately terrified me enough to get up and turn on the lights while I was reading it. A fantastic novel. Fantastic 1970s miniseries too, they captured the creepiness of the novel well. This though, this looks absolutely fantastic. I can’t believe WB was gonna not release this originally, this gets me very excited! We are overdue for a great vampire flick
Guys need to watch the original Salem’s lot with David Soul. When you do, then you can compare it to this movie, but the original was my favorite hands-down vampire movie.
Well, if you ever come across extra cash, you could always utilize this approach and rent a theater to watch it. If you have a decent friend group. get them to pitch in so it won't be so expensive.
"Maximum Overdrive" is based off a Stephen King short story called "Trucks". I'm really looking forward to this one. I've read the book several times want watched both the 70s miniseries (it was great) and the 2004 one (It was not great 😁).
Looks okay? I really like the Hooper version from '79. The book is fantastic so I'll give this one a shot for sure. I'd love a good King adaptation. Last one was IT? Or Doctor Sleep?
I watched the original back in 1981 when it was first aired in the United Kingdom, I was 9 years old, and, I had nightmares for months, I’m not saying this new one won’t be good, I’m sure it will appeal to people, but I grew up in a time, when horrors didn’t use, C.G.I. I do have issues with that.
The original mini-series has an extended version how it originally aired. There was another remake in the early 2000s with Rob Lowe, James Cromwell, Donald Sutherland and Andre Brougher. It is actually pretty good. I have deep doubts about this new one.
I have very little doubt, this looks awesome. It’s got some absolutely beautiful visuals, a stellar cast, it already captured the feeling of jerusalems lot from when I read the novel, just from the trailer alone. And on top of all that, Stephen King himself got to see it already, and wrote an entire paragraph talking about how well they hit it out of the park with this movie, and he says it is scary as hell, along with being very faithful to his novel. King has never been afraid to say when one of the movies based off of his books is bad, so to get such a glowing review from him, along with this stellar trailer, I’m sold. It’s my favorite king novel and I’m beyond impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Not to mention, after this film was shot, is when WB got bought by discovery, and they were going to pull it from release and not put it out, so they could save money with a tax write off. The only reason it’s back to getting released again is because Stephen King saw it and contacted Warner brothers, telling them the movie is just too good not to release. That doesn’t happen unless the film is actually really good. Stephen King was so impressed by this movie he called the studio and demanded they not cancel it. That is such a good sign. And good lord, that 2000s remake with Rob Lowe butchered the novel, and the vibe was awful. Idk what you are talking about, but that was not a very good adaptation, and that is what most others think as well, it was pretty panned when it came out
The reason why it’s so good is because it was set in the 70’s with the 70’s directing and clothing style. I doubt this movie will be any good but I guess I’ll watch it. Just hope they don’t turn the ghoul boys into CGI freaks like that one kid in Thor Love and Thunder. There was an article saying that this new movie has no cgi which I hope is true because practical effects are what made the original amazing.
Salems lot has been made so many times, hopefully they did it right this time. The mini-series and the original didn’t go hard enough, the lead vampire in this could be like the midnight mass vampire, he’s ancient and powerful.
A question for autistic people: does the symptoms get worse with the years? From what I can remember, Rick never used to wear headphones but he does regularly now. It’s just something that I thought about and I’m curious about.
Hard to believe that people into this fantasy sci fi stuff haven't read Salem's Lot?? King's books tend to be much better than the films. His short stories are amazing.
How many times are they going to make this movie?! This is what... the 3rd or 4th adaptation of Salem's Lot? The 70s version is still the scariest, imo.
Do yourself a favor and watch the original so you have a idea what this new film is supposed to live up to . The original version is great I hope this one can do it justice .

A lot of these movie reactor channels shock me with how little they actually know about anything. Dude is absolutely clueless 90 percent of the time, to the point that even when he’s watching something😊, he still doesn’t understand it, even if the movie is clearly explaining what’s going on. Idk if he’s just that dense for real, or if he just talks way to much and that’s why he misses everything
It’s a Vampire movie. Not a zombie movie. I highly recommend the book. It’s one of my favorites. The original miniseries was a very poor adaptation. TNT did its own 2 night miniseries that was much better but still not great. There’s also a series on MGM+ that is based on a short story that is a prequel to Salem’s Lot. The short story is called Jerusalem’s Lot. The series is titled Chapelwaite. It’s set in the early 1800’s and is Lovecraftian. There’s also a sequel short story titled One For The Road. One of the characters from Salem’s Lot shows up in King’s Dark Tower series in book 5. Maximum Overdrive was directed by King & is based on his short story Trucks.
Hard pass. This looks like an action version of the original story with blatant Mike Flanagan glowing eyes for the vampires.
