- Have you ever been rejected? It felt bad, right? Well, that's how these speedrun categories feel, so I'm gonna give them another chance.

I think that ABC% would be a lot more tactical if you needed to collect them in order. Imagine needing to pass by a moon just so you can come back later.
I don't think it'd be possible to even go to the second kingdom with that, unless you have a 100% file to begin with
@@titoucarotte5238maybe you can still get moons out of order but they don't count for the ABCs?
I think that what they meant was that only the ones you collected in order counted. Meaning you could collect any moon needed for kingdom progression, they just wouldn't necessarily count for your speedrun goal. If that was the case, I believe it would be possible. For example:
TANMBDCD - only A,B,C, and D would count.
The second D would be the one counted because it had occurred after a C, that occurred after a B, that occurred after an A.
I guess that works then, but it'd be a whole lot of going back and forth
@@titoucarotte5238I feel like it could make it more intriguing. Really the way it is now is kinda iffy imo. I forget now but it was 1 or 2 kingdoms kinda just straight-up waiting to finish your run.
He had a C moon in cheep cheep crossing but missed it meaning he didn’t have to get caught hopping in the forest. The run is not optimised!
He also did 500 jumps on the jump rope, it’s definitely not optimized

He still had to get some moons from wooded that were not a new letter so maybe it would still be the same

The thing that sold me on Fork% is the detail that it starts the moment you flick off the first fork, meaning you can start from any fork which could lead to a lot of experimenting to see which is the best fork to start with and what route to take from it
Yeah this run feels very much like a 'mario challenge' where you could get a moon or star from if you do it within a certain amount of time. Very creative, would love to see more of it!

I think the Letters% is a good one because there's a lot of room for debate in the routing since a faster moon somewhere might actually be slower than two other moons closer together. I definitely say "Mario Signs His Name" should be a required moon for the category, though.
Failed% have all of the rejected speedruns on a wheel and then spin the wheel for your speedrun
I love that CJ just casually got 500 on Jumprope.. I'm happy if I get to 100 without glitches💀

Fork%: Read every bit of dialogue from every Volbonan in the game.
Edit: I just realized that he did a fork run where he captures all of them, so I guess we can change it to Bonneters or New Donkers or something.
Calling them "New Donkers" is insane work.

Here’s an idea for a challenge if it hasn’t already been suggested; All Cappy Dialogue. If it’s even possible, of course, I have no idea. But having to activate every single line of cappy dialogue seems like it could be fun
I actually thought of that before and It will be very hard since you will need to get to the 999
I imagine that's pretty much a 100% run as again I imagine Cappy has something to say about every achievement/completion of something.
@@GohkaYes... and some other stuff, like skipping small sections of platforming throughout the game and for some reason one specific ground pound spot in Seaside.
It's hella atrocious, for one specific reason: Every single Subarea gives diffrent cappy dialouge: One for reentering if there are still purples and moons, one if there are only purples, one if only moons and one if nothing.
Two of these are mutually exclusive, so you'd need to reload the game for every single subarea, which takes like 1 min +
Plus yea, you need 999 Moons, sp there's that
A - Z was probably disqualified because you’d just change the language to whatever one would give you the least possible letters and run that, speaking of, would it even work for Japanese and different alphabets?
There are 3 languages that'd need special rulings (assuming the leaderboards don't just say you must use English): Japanese, the Chineses and Korean.
For Japanese, you can do an all-kana run taking the first syllable of the moon name, that'd be up to 46 (45 really since one of them never starts a Japanese word)
For the Chineses, I suppose you could use Mandarin initials (as described in pin-yin) so up to 21 moons.
As for Korean, it'd be either up to 14 moons (since all Korean syllables must begin with one of those characters) or up to 23 (since one of the characters is just a placeholder that comes before vowels and there are 10 vowel characters)

I think Rock paper scissors percent would be cool if instead, you had to do any percent but when you collect a moon it doesn't count if you lose to Mario in rock paper scissors. So you have to get an extra moon if he beats you

ABC% seems like it would be a fun challenge if the route and tech could be refined.

I just played through hollow knight again, so my brain kept saying “just keep wall jumping dude” every time he was missed the bullet capture lol
What about rejected% as a category where you have to complete all if these back to back either in the same game or starting new ines back to back

Yeah I just went through the whole list and Quizmaster is the only one that starts with Q. There are others like Moon Quiz & Sand Quiz but not with Q at the beginning

It would be really cool to see one of these “your speedruns” type streams as a collab with someone like fir or smant where you race

I actually think flower% would be extremely fun to watch with proper optimization! It would also be cool to see how quickly people can grab that out of bounds flower if it was added to the run

I think the all forks run is good and should be on the leader board, but I think it should include the post game forks in metro and seaside, and the ones in darker too.

18:42 They rejected all forks because actually there's more forks in the game. In a postgame file, there are forks in Luncheon, Metro and Seaside. For Metro and Seaside is only in a specific spot.
I think that 10% would be a lot of fun for the speedrun community if you had to beat the game with exactly 10%. It would make for good optimization routing.
As far as I know you can't beat the game with 10% of the moons
flower% feels like it would actually be really cool to see optimised (although i think the flower field shouldn't be a part of it)

I feel like they could've filled out the X and Z by just saying you have to do a moon were the title contains those letters somewhere and it can't count for any other letter.

What power moon is there that starts with Q? You get one off screen in Metro Kingdom seemingly but I can't find any that start with that letter besides Quizmaster, which is in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Speedrun Idea: Roshambo%
Basically just Any% but you have to play rock paper scissors with Mario every time you get a moon. If you fail once (or three times if that's too hard) then you restart the entire run.
For backwards mooncave you can do a long jump with cap bounce and home the cap throw onto the mowai

Honestly, A-Z% could be really interesting if it allowed you to switch languages mid-run or at least pick any language at the start. Would leave lots of room for really interesting routing.

You could also get a Z moon since the Dutch name for Wandering Cactus is Zwervende cactus. Still no X moon though as far as I can tell.

Has anyone suggested maximum even numbered captures? Basically, it's between minimum captures and all captures, where odd numbered captures kill your run.
Minimum jumps: beat the game with as few jumps as possible

Technically "built" isn't the 'correct' word. It would be considered nonsense if you go back far enough but in modern day is considered informal.
-ing is a present participle or a gerund.
In this case, turning a verb into a noun is done by adding -ing to the end.
So, building is an action. But you call the thing that was builded a 'building'.
Same reason we would say someone's hobby is "reading" even though it's in the past.

Koopa freerun percent, can do it after you beat the game starts at the start of the first race but you have to get all of the koopa free runs done without warping, must move on land and can use oddesey my record is 38 mins let's see what you guys can do.

The route I use is starting in moon, then cap, lost, Luncheon, Mushroom, snow, Cascade, lake, sand, metro, wooded, Seaside then bowsers, timer stops at end of bowsers
At 4:21 You already got a moon with C so idk why you needed to get one in wooded after that? And you got "R" moon in wooded with "Rolling Rock in the Woods".

Yeah, I did some looking and there is only ONE moon that starts with a "Q" and that's the moon "Quizmaster" in mushroom kingdom. So he might have thought that there wasn't a "Q" moon and skipped it, or he just didn't feel like playing the game until mushroom kingdom in order to get it.
