The genius and wisdom of the Imam to recite the ayahs that talk about wind and rain.
During one winter, Imam Abu Yusuf was leading Fajr Salah while Imam Abu Hanifa was praying behind him. Due to the harsh weather, Imam Abu Yusuf shortened the recitation in Salah, reciting only Surah Al-Fil in the first rak'ah and Surah Al-Kawthar in the second.After the Salah, Imam Abu Hanifa asked Imam Abu Yusuf why he had recited such short surahs. Imam Abu Yusuf explained that he did so out of consideration for the congregation due to the extreme cold weather. Imam Abu Hanifa did not object to his decision and acknowledged that it was permissible, indicating flexibility in such situations to ease the hardship on people.

@@EhsaanESBThe imam in makkah now leads from behind the mataf area. This has been like this since covid. I suppose it could be due to security reasons or whatever but I think it was nicer when he lead parallel to the door of the ka'bah.
According to the vast majority [the Hanafi, Shafi'i & Hanbali schools] praying infront of the imam is completely NOT permissible. According to the Maliki school it is allowed when there is a dire need.
However one is only considered to be infront of the imam if they are infront of him at the SAME angle. This is why is jumu'ah and other salahs at makkah they clear the mataf area directly infront of the imam.
So in makkah, if one is in the mataf area but they are praying at a different angle to the imam (e.g facing a different wall of the ka'bah to him) the salah is VALID.
So anyone who prays in makkah in the mataf area while the imam is behind the mataf area, their salah is completely valid so long as they do not pray at the same angle as the imam.
Allahu a'alam.
