Is that difficult? How much time do you have playing? I'm a guitar player and I would like to try it but I don't want to waste money. What can you say to me?
Well it's a difficult instrument to play but it's worth it... It's a little bit expensive (1.600-1.800€ but you can find even more expensive ones)... Also, I think that when you already know how to play a musical instrument is much easier to learn another one... Because you how to read the sheets, you can identify different sounds, so I don't think that it would be that difficult for you
Most of the Western musicians I know who have taken up the qanun/kanun were keyboard players. Usually, when a guitarist wants to try a Middle Eastern/North African instrument, they pick up the 'ud (Arabic & Turkish lute). Although there are some fundamental differences in how the instrument is held, plucked, etc., the skills are more transferrable. I was a jazz guitar player before I picked up the 'ud. Amazing talent! An Arab artist playing both Arab and Turkish techniques/souls !!!
It's amazing to think of the precision you have to pluck those strings with when taking into account the speed you're doing it at. Great performence 👏
Love the close-up of his hands so we can actually see how much work it is!

You should just try it if you are really interested in it.
