What a great time to be a teenager. Saw over 20 games that year in the bleachers. Remember watching this game at home with my pops. RIP. Still waiting for a summer, ANY summer, to top the summer of 1984. First car, love, great clothes, better hair.
    Still waiting............

I was at this game front row upper deck. As a country boy from Oregon going to this game with my buddy who lives in Chicago and we had a blast and little did we know we would be witnessing history with this no hitter. This is like a diary of our day together. Thank you for sharing.

I have a similar experience of meeting my high school teammate in Atlanta and going to see the Braves play at Turner Field to see Randy Johnson pitch. Happened to be the perfect game that he threw. Stadium was completely silent as everyone walked out to the parking lot.

I 100% Agree! This guy has the same numbers as Andy Pettitte. Won 3 World Series (84, 91, 92) was left off the 93 Toronto playoff roster & pitched a 10 inning masterpiece in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series.

@@michaelmarino7391 Except Morris was better. Morris had 175 complete games. Your numbers look better when you pitch 7 innings and then let Mariano finish it for you.

Remember Saturday, April 7, 1984 very well. Took a placement test at DePaul University that morning. Afterwards had the choice of going to either Comiskey Park to watch this game or Soldier Field for a USFL match between the Chicago Blitz and San Antonio Gunslingers. Guess where I went? Yep, the latter.

Because of all of the initial Dome hate re baseball when it opened, MIN was within an eyelash of having own USFL franchise, we could have been rivals. At least it made the port authority replace Soldier Field turf only to have buddy bring back the old stuff for '84. Movie Naked Gun made fun of Enberg drooling with giddiness after seeing Dent and co. blow up QBs like Manning and Humm where even Merlin Olson was muttering "what a lil psycho'😊

    I was 12 in April of ’84…
My parents surprised my brothers and me with an impromptu weekend family get-away to Chicago, which was to include a Tigers/White Sox game.
With Comiskey being on the south side and immediately adjacent to the interstate, my dad figured that SUNDAY’S game would be the ideal one to attend, since we could just leave from that side of town and get a head start on the traffic for the drive back home to Michigan.
We watched Saturday’s no-hitter from the confines of our hotel room.

The Tigers started 35-5 in 1984, even hotter than the White Sox were at the end of 1983, when they went 74-32. Fun fact: The White Sox have never made consecutive postseason appearances in their 118-season history. They had a chance of doing so in 1994, but the strike ended the season when they were in first place in the newly-formed AL Central, one game ahead of Cleveland.

I remember watching this as a kid. There was a great story about it in the Free Press the next day. Back then, Comiskey Park fans were very obnoxious. After the seventh inning, a bunch of them started screaming at Morris while he was in the dugout, telling him he had a no-hitter, trying to jinx him. He finally had enough, stepped to the top of the dugout and shouted, "Watch me get the next six fucking guys out!" Boom.
