Growing up in Penang in the 50's and 60's, this brings back lots of sweet memories. My old home was on Beach street, ( it is now the China House) , only a block away from the fire brigade at the junction of Chulia street & Beach street. The old Teouchew Temple on Chulia street used to be my primary school. I still recognize some shops on Chulia street, it hasn't changed too much over the years, except the Odeon cinema at the end of Chulia St is no longer there. Thanks again !
That's incredibly interesting. Thank you for sharing. I always appreciate learning from first-hand experiences that will continue to enrich my own knowledge.
Very good tour, it was great seeing sights from our last holiday in GeorgeTown. We visited at Chinese New Year - we enjoyed our time there but too busy and too much traffic! Next time we will choose another time! Thank you.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Wow. So much history on a familiar street.
Now the next time you walk down Chulia Street, you will do so with newly acquired knowledge and appreciation of it!
Another excellent and informative George Town street guide. Thank you so much.
Delighted you enjoy it. Lots of videos to come, just no time to put them up!
I lived in a shop house about 30-40m from the Fire station in 50s-70s. Great times during those days, bring back lots of lovely memories.
Thanks for sharing your insight!

I hope my videos will be able to provide you insights into the history of the streets you walk on.
Thank you Timothy
You're most welcome, Irene.
I agree the 5 foot ways should be kept clear for pedestrians. It is very annoying to have to walk on the busy street.
