It's De-Lovely on the Page Theatre Organ

  • Today I had a chance to visit Firehouse Pipes in Union City, Indiana. The venue is home to a 3/12 Page theatre pipe organ. The owners of the instrument, Dick and Linda Wilcox, are the owners of Uniflex Relay Systems. This organ serves as the test instrument for each new version of the relay software. The instrument speaks wonderfully into the room, which is often used as a community center for various events.

    Sad to hear of his passing. 😞 The tune always reminds me of the VERY old car commercial... "It's delightful, it's delovely, it's DeSoto!"... Can you guess my age? 🙂

    Very sad to hear the loss of such a great and rare talent. Tim was a good friend of mine and loved hearing his recordings, and to hear about his passing so soon made me very disheartened. I would like to offer my condolences to Tim's family and friends who have been very supportive of him over the years. Rest in peace, Tim! :-(

      Thanks much! It's not a very large instrument, but it sounds wonderful. I need to invest in better audio equipment - this camera simply doesn't do it justice!

      You should try Zoom gear, its fairly "cheap" and gives good quality sound for what your spending. Does well for TH-cam stuff.

      Yes, that was what I was thinking. A friend has a really nice model that I like that he said is about $80.

      We use zoom q3hd for some of the video work, and use a H2N and/or HN4 for audio. They are great for internet videos.

    That was just "De-Lovley"! I am blown away by your talent. You say in your, "About" on your You Tube you are self taught and do not read music. I never got as good as you but was on my way but life ripped me away. Strokes, later in life wiped out any chance of hand-eye coordination. At your age don't let any of us old farts tell you how to play. You must have been possessed by spirits from the days and glory of them shmultsy Wurlitzers of yesteryear. You have a might presence on these great instruments. You have a gift, don't waste it on things young people turn to at your age. Trust me, I have heard the greats of the 40's,50's, 60's, 70's, and they are all "The Late" artist. With your "Chops" all the great preserved instruments are at your disposal/fingertips. Do finish your education and experience life but do not ever turn your back on the organ. You are our future. Oh, and that's my "Bride" of 37 years in the profile picture.

    Great job, Tim! I would also recommend Zoom audio recorders for recording pipe organs. I have a Zoom H1 that I paid around $80 for, and with the proper gain levels, it sounds amazing.

    It would be wonderful to know more about Tim. I first heard him on youTube and was amazed how well he played, even in socks! He came from a musical family background. It was reported he said he did not have organ lessons and could not read music. If so, he was naturally born with his talent! Organ playing including accurate keying, chording, harmony, counter-melody, pedaling, 2nd touch, rhythm, console layout, and registration! All seemed to come natural for him. There are current organists that display an innate sense this musical talent is bundled inside them! They just have to feel for it and play for us dreamers. Tim could have been a desired theater organ concert performer; but his life was interrupted too soon. Hopefully now in Heaven playing the "Perfect-Non-Ciphering" pipe organs. Rest In Peace, Timothy.

    Tim, as well as you play this wonderful music on these iconic instruments at your young age, I think you are well on your way to becoming a national treasure. I keep telling people I know and meet to check out your videos, hoping to add to your fan base. (now, take a bow!)

    Nice playing and a lovely little organ... d'you know what the big drawstop console to the right is? Toaster?

    • @furrypeanut1
      @furrypeanut1  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The console came from a Moller (I think) pipe organ. Probably fairly recent as it looks like a very new console. It is not currently connected to anything, but I believe the plan is to make it work as a virtual organ playing samples. There is a large array of speakers in the chamber currently, as they were used to augment the theatre organ before some of the ranks were installed.

    Thanks for the mentioning the info on the Zoom H1 for TO and pipe organ recording. I'm considering a video camera in the future 4 hifi pipe organ recording and voice. Does the Zoom HI make HE-AAC files and have a compressor or AGC ??

    Hey, is that classical console over there connected to this organ's wind chests, too? Is there a way to make parallel connections like that?
    Ha, can you imagine 2-4 people playing the same organ with 2 different consoles at the same time?
