Walk from Pahalgam Taxi Stand for 2 minutes and locate Hotel Mount View. The good road begins just opposite to the hotel.

yes, following Google it will be approximately 6-7kms. But, pony takes the shortcut route which you can also take and that will be approximately 3-4kms.

There is a steep shortcut from Pahalgam parking stand that takes you straight to Hunters point, enjoy the view on tracking
