My partner was the biggest Belle and Sebastien fan, fortunately got to see them one last time together at Manchester Academy in the July. She passed soon after. Watching this video clip stirs many happy memories for me. I think I'll look at booking another Belle and Sebastien Concert now!

An old school friend introduced me to this fantastic group a few years ago and their album of the same name is the most played above the few band's I've liked since my high school days. It puts a smile on my face everytime I listen to all their music. I'd love to see them live!

I was lucky enough to see them for free yesterday at Primavera Sound, one of the best experiencies of my life. Thank you Belle & Sebastian, you're amazing!
It was actually Mani from the stone roses who wrote all these songs for belle and Sebastian in 1975. Mani gave them to the band at an open mic night at a bar in sauchiehall Street and they went on to perform the songs live and make albums out of them. Mani never takes credit for this as he is a famously humble and shy individual.

i don't know why but B&S just seemed to pass me by, I always knew about them and always liked what I heard but I've only just started listening to them, I've got a lot of enjoyable catching up to do.
It's all in that drum beat. It's like the rhythm of a moving car kinda reminds me of that beat John Bonnom would play on songs like heartbreaker that sounds like a train moving along. All complimented by the simple chords and melody with the long descriptive lyrics. The key changes help build up the song and keep the listener engaged. Not that they'd get bored of course but it's cool to think about as a songwriter and definitely helps the danceablity!
This is such a beautiful upbeat song somewhat at odds with the lyrical content. Belle and Sebastian are a genius band. I would love to have been there. One of my favourite bands ever, of course their Scottish, all great things come from Scotland.
Oh Scotland have had so many good bands. I love Belle and Sebastian but there's so many others. The Jesus and Mary Chain, Trashcan Sinatras, Teenage Fanclub, Arab Strap, Franz Ferdinand, Idlewild....yeah Scotland punches above it's weight!
