  • In this video I discuss, probably the most hated man in France right now, Ben O'Keeffe's performance in the France v South Africa Rugby World Cup quarter final game that took place on the 15th of October 2023.
Ben O'Keeffe is a rugby union referee from New Zealand. He currently referees at domestic, Super Rugby and test match level..

As a French fan, I can live with the Etzebeth call (explained well by Nigel Owens on his podcast), but I really have a problem with Kolbe's charge-down. He starts running well before Ramos advances toward the ball . . . and not one ref sees it?

Kolbe's charge down was the game decider. I tried looking for videos that show Kolbe's run and Ramos's run up to kick at the same time and can't seem to find any. Sorry for the loss though brother! Always had massive respect for the French and they've always been great and a tough opposition since the 1995 semi-final in South Africa.

With the penalty on the contest with the hands on te ground, with the headbutt of Du toit, with the deliberate knock on on Dupont with tens of absurd decisions. This is pure robbery

Why the video has been deleted by world rugby ? They are so ashamed ? Shame on these referees and World Rugby, you are no more credible....

The worst decision was to forget the deliberate head to head from du Toit into Danty (17th minute) ! That should have been direct red card but TMA did not move.... Certainly not the same result at the end !

Okay, the All Black and South Africa are in the final.
This World Cup has shown that it's no longer enough to beat a team to reach the final.
    For the All Blacks:
The French team is the only team to have beaten the All Blacks (twice in the last 2 matches).
But they were eliminated by the 4 All Black referees who officiated France - South Africa
    - Referee O'Keeffe is NZ, and he'd already done us a lot of harm... against Uruguay by not blowing the whistle on the repeated collapsed moles
    - the 2 touch referees Paul Williams and James Doleman are also NZ
    - and TMO Brendon Pickrerill is still NZ !!!!
The band of 4 NZ referees committed enough refereeing errors to reverse the final result:
    - 17' Dangerous clearance in a ruck by Pieter-Steph Du Toit. The South African third row dived forward with his shoulder, hitting Jonathan Danty in the face (yellow card "forgotten").
    - 22 ' The second French try, converted by Thomas Ramos, was blocked by Cheslin Kolbe. After reviewing the footage, the World Rugby supervisors ruled that the South African winger had left his line too early (2 points, O Keeffe didn't even ask for the video of his colleague at the TMO).
    - 68' Kwagga Smith scratching on Cameron Woki, penalty awarded to SouthAf, but Smith had his hands on the ground before the scratching the penalty should have been awarded to France. Given the location, France could have converted this penalty (3 points or even 6 points if the French penalty was converted).
The World Rugby supervisors did not recognise the following refereeing errors:
6' forwards by Eben Etzebet who, with only one hand, could not intercept the ball, try on the counter and then converted (7 points)
24': Jesse Kriel elbowed Antoine Dupond (yellow card 'forgotten')
60' Elbow again, this time by Peter-Steph du Toit on Damien Penaud (yellow card "forgotten")
Even without counting the unrecognised fouls, the World Rugby supervisors recognised a difference of 5 to 8 points and a "forgotten" yellow card.
These 5 to 8 points would have reversed the result of the match.
Recognising ayany fouls that have reversed the result of the match is not enough.
To reward O' Keefee for distorting the match, World Rugby selected him to referee the 1/2 final again with South Africa, a true home-made referee for South Africa.
In the 78th minute, O' Keeffe awarded a penalty for a loose scrum (always a very "subjective" phase of the game) to South Africa, who once again won by a point.
On the World Rugby website, integrity is the first value cited.
If that were really the case :
    - ALL referees in a match should not be of the same nationality.
    - A referee in the 1/4 and 1/2 finals should not referee if his team is still in the competition.
No sport other than rugby dares to show such contempt for the rules of governance at a World Cup,
But in rugby the evil is deep and long-standing:
In fact, World Rugby should change its name to Commonwealth 1926, which included England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Do you recognise these 7 countries? Since the creation of the CDM, the cup has always remained in this closed club.
In 2023, along with the USA, these 7 countries represent 100% of the 12 members of the World Rugby Executive Committee.
For the 2023 World Cup, this closed club has pretended to accept other countries.
But although these 7 countries represented only 35% (7/20) of the countries competing, they refereed 83.3% (40/48) of the matches!!!!
An opening gag for the former British colonial empire, and contempt for all the other countries.
It's high time France, but especially the other countries - Argentina, Japan, Italy, etc. - got involved in the World Club, otherwise we'll be treated to the same parody of a championship every 4 years.
Or else we will have to create a real World Cup outside the former British colonial empire.
Otherwise, no matter how good our team is, we'll keep getting screwed every time.

As a New Zealander, Ben O Keeffe has a vested interest in the outcome of the England vs South Africa semi-final so I don't know how he has been selected to officiate that game.

Hey bro, there was very little in this video about the referee, and what you said about the refereeing was pretty basic. Maybe just make the video a match review and predictions in general.

4h before looks fidji forward yellow card, and justify nothing for Elisabeth
With constant referee you will probably have different 1/2 afs-fidji or fr-ang
Why video assist do not solve this (I do not charge referee)

World rugby is a corrupt organisation. SA should have lost that game.
