hello Mal 😊 No gym workout for you 😂 i saw your video and what i was going to be watching so i went and made myself a lovely mug of coffee so i could sit and enjoy your hard work 😅😊. I love the hard work of allotmenteering. i like your trench digging ideas i i think i am going to do that on 2 of the beds i have left to clear as it will help the clay soil improve whilst also feeding the worms during winter.
Can’t beat a good days digging reaches parts that other exercises doesn’t 🤣🤣 Hope enjoyed your coffee ☕️ it’s alright for some 🤣🤣 I’ve just finished the fruit tree bed so off home for a soak 🛁 Thanks for popping by🙏😊👍
I like the pants Mel they look both warm and waterproof with a lot of pockets. Glad the back is feeling better 👍. You know if you use a long handled shovel you don’t have to bend so much I bought some really good old ones on marketplace 👍. Sorry to make more work for you 😉 but I think it will be fab and flowers will bring in pollinators for the fruit trees. All looking great Mal 🦾, have a super day, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Thank you Ali the other trousers were falling apart £38 great value too! The bed looks much better so definitely worth the extra work. The long spade ……… What an idiot I have one never think to use it 🤣🤣 Many thanks as always Ali 🙏😊👍🇬🇧
Lovely to hear feet and inches used on the plot Mal - quite right! Love the tip to remove the tatty top growth off the parsnips, gonna copy you when I get up the lottie after work tomorrow! Good to see the plot taking shape. Can’t help chuckling at how much work is involved in making life easier!😜👍 Great half hour viewing mate. Nice to sit back and watch someone else work hard.
🤣🤣I know grafting my nads off to make life easier it so better be worth it. Having said I couldn’t sit down if tried I have to be doing something always🤣🤣 Thanks for tuning in and enjoy the rest of the week pal🙏😊👍
I love it Sylvi I lose all track of time when I’m there. I’d be lost without out my garden and allotment 🙏😊👍 Have a lovely week and see you on the next one🙏
Hi Mal. The new bed for your fruit trees looks much better. Trust Ali to give you more work to do lol. Yep, the chain on the chainsaw is a bit blunt lol. Take care, Elaine 🌱
Bean trench along with feet n inches very old school and I think this needs resurrecting on my plot cos my beans the last few years have been pants! You’ve reminded me to check in on my parsnips and maybe top them and put the green in my bean trench! Well that’s the plan today. Good work Mal!
Cheers Lynne I use bean trenches every year I like to maintain some of the old school traditions. The parsnips have done all their growing now so no need for untidy rotting leaves 🍁 Hope you enjoyed your day🙏😊👍
Hi Mal. Your beds are looking good, the soil is really good. Interesting idea with the greens in the bean bed - look forward to see how it goes. Such lovely weather for you also. My garlic is very slow at moment, but let’s see. Have a good week 👍
Hi Mark yes the weather has been lovely but it’s clouded over now got very cold 🥶 snow could be on its way! Yes the bean trenches does give a boost to the beans I’ve done for years now and I’m happy with the soil conditions that’s been years of adding manure, spent compost, leaf mould and the like hopefully it will reward me with bumper harvests next season mate. Stay warm and keep plotting mate 🙏😊👍
Good way to feed the beds mate, I used to do that with comfrey leaves when trenching for my potatoes. I am loving the new look wrap around bed. Shame about the chain though, i always carry a spare in the boot but sometimes dont carry the chainsaw with me 🤣🤣. Its all looking good mate but remember to take it easy with your back
Hi Jimmy yes I’m pleased with the new bed just finished it off tonight can’t wait to get the trees in probably do that in December sometime. Off to get a new chain tomorrow mate used to keep a spare in the shed but bloody thieves took it! Yes I’m making sure I don’t over do it with the back but sitting and doing nothing can even worse than doing too much. Take care mate and keep plotting mate 🙏😊👍
In spain atm mate, home tomorrow, so if you need a lift with anything let me know, dont mind getting stuck in, and only around 40 mile away so no probs at all👍
Your garden is looking beautiful so nice can’t wait to see what crops your going to be planting, right now I’m trying with sweet peppers again they never give me a good crop, tomatoes 👎 nothing this year at all, have a great week take care of yourself.
Where do you get your soil from. It looks great. Also , did you dig a trench for your raised bed perimeter or did you just lay it down and added woodchip?
Hi Marva the soil is very good this has just developed year on by adding organic matter such as horse manure, leaf mould, spent compost from pot plants etc …….. 8 years in the making 🤣 I built my raised beds and simply placed them in position and then created my paths with wood chip around them. Hope this is of help to you. Thank you for tuning in too it’s much appreciated 🙏😊👍
