  • BMW R80 GS, the motorcycle that not only revolutionized the adventure bike segment but also played a pivotal role in rescuing BMW Motorrad from the brink of extinction.
In the late 1970s, BMW Motorrad found itself facing a crossroads. Their traditional motorcycles, known for their comfort and touring capabilities, were struggling to compete in an ever-changing market. The rise of Japanese motorcycles, with their focus on performance and handling, had left BMW at a disadvantage.
Enter the BMW R80 GS, a motorcycle that dared to be different. Combining the ruggedness of an off-road bike with the comfort and refinement of a touring machine, the R80 GS created an entirely new category of motorcycle - the adventure bike.

The R80ST was very similar to the R80 G/S, just a bit more street oriented.
