I know this is an old video on a knife that's been around a long time...I just decided to bite the bullet and get one of these in a black friday sale... Can't wait! I know there is a lot of other more modern/updated knives out there but this is such a classic. I've got a 945 and love it so I figured its time to get it's bigger brother. Great review vid... it'll help to tie me over until the 940-2 gets in my hands
I am a big racing fan and I have to pay respect. Jaguar which dominated Le Mans for years. Because of the D type. Their main factory race car was BRG which is British racing green It was green with purple numbers I’ll stick with that
I was at SMKW in June 2024. I came in the side door next to the Benchmade booth. There was a young man standing there carrying on a conversation with the elderly man about the 940. I went in and grabbed the things I wanted and was headed back out. The young man was still standing there but now another man ,(guessing his father) was beside the young fellow. They were discussing how much it cost. The man told him it was too much to spend on a knife. The lil feller told his dad it would last a life time. The dad said it was just too much. I joined in on the conversation and learned his name. He told me all about the knife of his dreams. He had been coming and looking at the 940 with green aluminum handles for 3 years. He said his dad said he would think about it when he turned 13. Well it turns out he had just had his 13th birthday a few weeks ago. It was plain to see they were not the type that would pay that kind of money for him a knife. No disrespect. Dad just wasn’t going to buy it. I asked the man behind the display to let me see the famous knife this boy was interested in. He pulled it out I looked at it. Fiddled around with it a little. I asked if he had one in a box and let me look at it. Did a couple flicks and asked the boy what he thought. He smiled and said it was his dream knife. I said I’m gonna take your word for it and told the man pass it over to the check out counter across from him. I went over and paid for the knife and with my discount it was a bargain. I went over and had it personalized. I went back to the counter the boy was still bargaining with his dad. I stopped and spoke to them. The boy said enjoy your knife you picked a good one. I said we did. Laid the bag down and walked out. Somewhere there’s a 13 year old boy sporting a 940 with his name on the blade. I bet he is a happy young man. Hopefully with all his fingers.
Thank you for the review - great presentation - much appreciated. Benchamade knives have never let me down - and G10 rocks for scales - for me it holds up well and stays grippy even when it gets wet. I sold off my AFCK ( regrettably ), but still have the auto striker ( Elishawitz design ) - picked it up around 1999-2000. I also grabbed one of the H2O's as well in the hi-vis yellow - a good knife for use in the water. One of these days I will most likely trade both away for a watch.
Ordered the same yesterday. Always a big Spyderco Fan, but to this version with the G10, I could not resist. Good Point with the carbon fiber. I can imagine that it could delaminate

And to be on list jaguar was the first racing car or any car to have four wheel disc brakes. Which is one of the main reasons they were so dominant

the texturing on the clip side is to save your pocket from wear
