    Truly amazing stuff! Is there a way or a plan to create your own custom motion for your library? I’ve been loving this software, bringing live characters into my twitch livestreams. As a professional game animator, I’m always thinking of characters in terms of state machines: looping cycles with different transitions between different cycles. Looping triggers and looping layer cycles would be huge for my workflow! Awesome stuff, big thanks for everything you do!

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, just followed you on Twitch and shared with the CH team - fantastic work! There isn't currently a way to make custom motion library additions, you best bet are replays - th-cam.com/video/mZioGOAt8RE/w-d-xo.html - but those also don't loop. That being said, you could conceivably make a swap set with a bunch of long replays filled with a repeated action - like a walk or dance or wave hello or whatever - and it would seem like they were looping (when in fact they were just playing long prerecorded animations). Hope that makes sense - just followed you on Twitter, DM me if you run into any issues.

I do have a question that's in the new zone of all you're doing. The puppet maker feature (where we customize an Adobe puppet using your choices), is it still being worked on to apply to a puppet of our own original making? That feature I already know how I'd use. Curious. Thanks and bravo!

    Could you tag the origin of the body as the waist as well? Or do I have to create a new handle? And I always used to tag the origins of the arms and legs as shoulders and hip tags, but it still seemed to work when I used the walking behavior, is that different in motion library? Thanks for your videos I love them, this software is mindblowing 😅 sooo many possibilities ❤

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  ปีที่แล้ว

      From our developer Jun: "It may work in some situations but it's easier to tell users to avoid origin handles. Origin handles rigidly move everything under it, making the virtual ground plane remembered by Limb IK to move too. This causes foot sinking etc.
      This restriction is not new. Walk behavior has the same issue."

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't believe any of the Puppet Maker puppets are set up for motion library, so it's very possible they don't have all the necessary components. I would walk through the rigging section here at th-cam.com/video/ZTevkEadskk/w-d-xo.html and make sure the character has all the correct behaviors and tags. If you try that and it still isn't working, please upload a screenshot, video, or your File > Export > Puppet file to the official forums at adobe.com/go/chfeedback so we can take a closer look.

    I have a puppet that is used for some training content messaging. I sometimes change the color of the clothing to refresh it every so often. Is it possible to basically copy all triggers and behaviours from one puppet to the other? They are identical apart from the colors but I have to manually do everything each time I bring the new puppet in.

    • @okaysamurai

      When using Motion Library, you'll need to add the Body and Limb IK behaviors on the same group (I talk about this at 18:37). If you look at the free example characters you should see this in action.

    Hi Dave. We are looking to find some information to see if it is possible to create a character in CA with wheels that spin(kids safety ambulance). I know it can be done in AE but I'm new to CA and love the simplicity. I've been going through the forums and your videos and unable to find anything with wheeled characters. Have you already created a tutorial you could link to? Thanks so much!

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Check out the character Jenna on pages.adobe.com/character/en/starter - she has spinning wheels I think. I believe you could do this through the Transform behavior using rotation keyframes or a rotation replay, or make a frame by frame animation and use cycle layers (I think I did this for the spinning saw blades of puppetbot on pages.adobe.com/character/en/puppet-maker).

    this is great. Awesome stuff. One problem I am having though is that once the dance moves end and then when the character goes into the "normal" position again, the movement is never completely fluent. I know that I can smoothen this transition by dragging the clip from the right, so that it eases into the "regular" position. However, it seems that even if I do that, there is always some correction that takes place even when the smoothening process is over...so for example for the robot, the legs slightly change the position after the smoothening period (going back to the normal position) is over and this makes the character seem to be laggy. I am not sure if you understand what I mean. But I would love to know how I can make sure that after these animations my character will just go back to a normal position as smoothly as possible.

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  ปีที่แล้ว

      For my experiments, I tried to find an idle motion that was closer to my standing character's original position, and ended on that before transitioning back to normal. There might be some other tricks...I'm asking the team to see if they recommend anything and will respond back here if they do.

    • @MaschiTuts
      @MaschiTuts ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. Thank you very much, Dave. In fact, I have already created a tutorial video on my channel using the robot and implemented some dance moves and stuff. Best, Marcel.

    • @okaysamurai
      @okaysamurai  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh awesome, thanks for the support! I asked the dev and he said pretty much what I did: "I guess this somewhat depends on the definition of the “normal” position. If we are talking about the initial pose as in the rig mode, then there is no general solution because we have no control over how the initial poses are drawn. My general suggestion is to never “let go” but transition to one of the idle motions in the motion library, which is guaranteed to be natural idle poses with the foot placement close to the rest pose in Motion Library."

      I believe I only did this one as an AI file unfortunately. The structure in Photoshop should be the same if you want to copy its general layout though. And I believe most of the other example characters on that page are PSD files.
