    I remember watching Jordan's early videos where he was kind of JUST getting windmills in on hoops that people argued weren't 10 foot... (the classic comments on dunk videos...), he was getting up but not super explosive then not long after that he was hitting east bays and after that I didn't see much of him until he exploded onto the scene and man was it impressive! Seeing his journey was crazy, his mindset was always on point and he really didn't want to give up. He has MADE himself into as much of a legend as T-Dub and the air up there! - AMAZING!

    Here's a funny story: back over 10 years ago me and my friends were training and we came up with what now is called the scorpion dunk. We laughed our ass off about how ridiculous it looked (we did a 360 version of it with a left-right plant turning counter clockwise).
    Next thing you know, Jordan is doing it and everyone is saying how wonderful it is 😃

    The ONLY knock I have about rating Jordan as a goat dunker is that he doesn't play basketball. Guy, T dub and the Air Up There were REALLY hooping... Tony Crosby really hoops. Even Isaiah plays games. I get the logic behind not playing basketball for him but in game dunks count

      @LedgerLiner not really.. dunking on people and dunking off the dribble are important aspects of dunking and should thus be considered when talking about the goat of dunking. I would have a hard time arguing that jordan wasn't the most creative pro or the most polished contest dunker in the world tho...
      Jordan also doesn't have much of a 1 fted repotoire. Jordan IS arguably the greatest dunker and I'm just throwing up respectful arguments fam

      If anything’s clear it’s that if he put his mind to it he could. So it’s not really a knock on his resume imo. Being a good in game dunker is more influenced by height. No one thinks Aaron Gordon is the best dunker even though he has these qualities.

    • @walkman6150
      @walkman6150 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @liamforbes. True but you could throw Jordan in that contest vs zach and Aaron and he is not going to win every time. In a similar vein..if zach and Aaron didn't have to worry about shooting dribbling, a play book, defense and all the other intricacies of BBall how crazy would their dunking actually be.

      I understand what you’re saying…but there’s really no pro dunker that’s dunking on people in game like that similar to was Dennis smith Jr and Ja Morant do…dunking in game is a totally different beast especially when it comes to catching a poster
      I will say this though…if Jordan wanted to play basketball and try to dunk on someone…he could reach the likes of a Ja Morant type posters if he REALLY REALLY wanted to no joke…Jordan is the best when it comes to using his complete vertical on every single dunk he does.
      And yes social media hoopers like Slim Reaper and Zer0 Bounce catch bodies…but they’re not pro dunkers, it’s a difference

      From what I’ve seen, this dunking scene looks like a separate sport of its own. I think it should be perceived similarly to sports like figure skating where creativity and difficulty of execution is taken into account. “Dunkers” and NBA dunkers are entirely different from each other, imo.

    He can NEVER be the greatest dunker of all-time. He only dunks off 2 feet, I've seen rare clips of him dunking off 1 (left foot) but far inferior to his take of off 2 feet.
    To be the best dunker you must be complete, great examples are : Guy Dupuy & Jonathan Clark. These are guys that dunk at elite level on both take offs.
    That's mastering JUMPING and making dunking extra graceful.

    Jordan Kilganon deserves respect for everything he’s done to be a great dunker. But there’s just something that’s a little . . . I don’t know . . . Off, about his dunking. I can’t quite put my finger on it. The dunks just don’t seem natural. The best way I can describe it, is that watching him dunk is like watching a body builder who’s just too strong, or who for whatever reason, just doesn’t look natural. And I think that’s how it is here. Maybe it like messed up my thinking knowing that all he was trying to do, for pretty much his whole life, was to dunk a basketball. I couldn’t get that out of my head watching him do what he does. I guess I just have to keep telling myself that he’s a dunker, not a basketball player. And for whatever reason, the dunker-not-basketball-player category just won’t compute.

    • @PTrey
      @PTrey 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think his jump and dunk mechanics are so "perfect" in the sense of exactly biomechanically efficient to pull off his crazy concepts that you don't get the rawness and stylistic quirks you feel from freak of nature type dunkers. Kind of like the difference between how a gymnast and a bboy would execute a similar move, with the gymnast being clean and efficient but the bboy having more flavor.
      That being said, his creativity makes him a well deserved GOAT dunker imo
