Matsui was the man. He showed the baseball world once and for all why they called him "Godzilla" in Japan. He batted .615 (8-13), 3 HRs, and 8 RBIs; for the series. Complete and total savage!!
numbers that are simply hard to believe for a world series... if you were scanning a table of stats, you'd be forgiven for assuming that row was a typo...
How do those numbers compare in history ? I’m gonna have to do some research. Pretty sure he would have done even more damage without the no DH rule in NL ballparks
Man how is this the first time anyones ever uploaded this? I could never find his highlights from this series/game 6. Matsui was my dads favorite Yankee in a long time. Thank you!!!
Matsui was the ultimate professional. He didn't just hit home runs. He let the pitch dictate what he did. OK, a home run is great, but if the pitch is down, hit it in the gap. And when the stakes were the highest, he played his best. That's all you can ask from a player. He did what needed to be done, and he didn't cower under pressure when his moment came. He was a warrior.
Matsui's first home game as a Yankee, he hits a grand slam. His last home game at Yankees' stadium, hits a homerun and drives in 4 runs and wins the WS MVP. Dude is clutch and a legend.
One of the Yankees' best signings ever. He was a consistent performer, durable, a great teammate, and a true professional. I will always be happy that he got a ring.
The fact that I traded immediately even after doing such a great thing shows the coldness or magic of the major leagues. It's a collection of people with truly tremendous physical abilities.
😂 did you see those clutch hits in game 6 . He would stand on base like nothing happen 😂 No adrenaline or nothing. Like a professional hitman standing there . Love it
Unfortunately in Japan baseball players have to play in Japan for 9 years before they can post and sign with MLB team. The Japanese players usually enter MLB by their mid 20s instead of joining MLB in their late teens or early 20s. Ichiro, Matsui and even Shohei Ohtani would have already thrived if they did joined MLB in their teens and early 20s.
I told my dad before game 6 no worries because Matsui would be back in the starting lineup. Also that base hit on that 0-2 pitch off Pedro was ridiculous. He was going to rake no matter where the ball was in this series. Go go Godzilla.
These were the Yankees my grandma loved not the sorry team that just lost to the dodgers what a disgrace. Please rewind my life these were the good ole days
Matsui was a damn beast. My God does Joe buck suck as a commentator. Absolutely no energy, no passion, just lifeless. Bro these are incredible moments act like you like the game ffs how did this guy continue to be employed casting the biggest games
I'm watching these highlights days after the recent Costas series, which was a terrible listen, and somehow these are worse! I knew I disliked Joe Buck but I had long since forgotten why. What a pathetic reminder. His bored tone on Matsui's HR in game six of the world series was insulting to the sport.

And he still works for the Yankees after retirement and raising his family in the US

Totally agree!
He was a cold blooded man very simple and did a lot of things without even trying to do much with his bat.

Matsui is a work of art!
It’s crazy how we didn’t resign this man after this performance. .615 avg in the World Series is unheard of! The beginning of our downfall
He couldn't field everyday as well as other options (gardner) and arod was clogging up DH.
MVP! MVP! あのコールは忘れません。

Pedro wasn’t the Pedro in his prime but he was still pretty good at this point. Matsui was just unbelievable. It was an excellent display of hitting.
Matsui had a perfect swing
Pedro wasn’t a Pedro everytime he faced the Yankees.
Matsui always hit Martinez, even when he was with Boston
Matsui was completely dialed in during this whole series. His stat line was ridiculous.
