What's really wild is that Vicki/Mama was the youngest of the principal female actresses, while Betty White was the oldest, yet Vicki played Betty's mother. I was also surprised to discover that Beverly Archer was OLDER than Vicki Lawrence, admittedly by 1 year. Her character, to me, comes across as several years YOUNGER than the character played by Dorothy Lyman (Naomi).

I love this channel! Showing the "warts-and-all" of these interviews. It is true behind the scenes! And love Mama's Family, btw. Probably my favorite sitcom.

Interesting the interviewer asked that question of Vicki because if you will note Carol Burnett held a long time grudge against Vicki Lawrence for accepting the role once the show moved to syndication in 1986. Carol and Vicki were on the outs for the entire time the show was in syndication. Carol resented Vicki for having anything to do with Joe.
So that’s why Carol was never on the syndicated series! That was such a missed opportunity. Eunice was just an outstanding character and portrayed brilliantly.
Sadly, its only gotten worse of people who move out who back in with their parents. This is because of the high cost of living and pay for jobs has declined or stayed the same once hired without many increases.

I found the question about Joe Hamilton and Carol’s separation rather awkward for Vicki…but she handled it exceptionally well.
