I mean i always hated that one where it like open world and you gotta find the keys to progress. I always die because of the changes to the swim controls. But the worst part is that there are no checkpoints.
@@susiehaltmann3342the level is super cool but it has a fee major flaws. I have it up decently high because having a dungeon crawler puzzle chamber in a dk game is insane, but it wasn't implemented nearly as well as it should have
The fact that your 233th level, your most hated level of the series, is actualy one of my favorites, just tells us how much these games are great just in general. I really like the poisonous color palette, i think the theming is awesome, having spikes in the level just expresses how stressful the situation is for the kongs, all the whilst having fast fish ennemies telling us how stressed they are to be in this environement aswell. 🙏
the fish ennemies are aids, but at least i can laugh at them now whenever i play this horrendous level! Jokes aside I do think it is an interesting looking level but the unfair obstacles will always make me hate it. The slowest movement in the entire series has the fastest obstacles in the series, this is rather silly. I greatly appreciate the massive comment though. Unfortunately I see a black hole forming outside of my window.
Every single time i see a long ass video made by a small youtuber i just know it's gonna be a banger. I genuinely love these types of videos + your personality just made this entire journey so satisfying to watch
Ps: I watched the 1st half of this vid before going to sleep and the other one after waking up, I couldn't do it in one sitting, but my comment made it sound like I did (but whatever who rlly cares lol)**
I’ve always loved the Donkey Kong games. The fantastic level design, the believable yet vividly vibrant world, the characters, the enemies, the music…it all adds up to something truly incredible. I appreciate your take on the series, and it was definitely quite the undertaking to give a thought out opinion on every level. Keep on keeping on, man.
Hell yeah! The DKC games were one of my favourites on our SNES back when I was a kid, and having them on the go with the Switch is neat! I might still have DKCR and TF laying around somewhere, too
Am I the only one who loves Web Woods? Squitter is easily my favourite animal buddy in the whole series, especially because of the web platforms. And the backwards cannonball is super neat. It's always one of my highlights when I run DKC2
Yep, Squitter is the best animal buddy, and Web Woods is a masterpiece! Creating your own platforms in a platformer is always neat (See: Cloud Mario, Ice Beam shenanigans in Metroid, Tornado/Claw in Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest), and Squitter has some of the series' absolute best levels (Krack Shot Kroc and Hornet Hole are some other really awesome ones. Twin Tyrant Tussle is neat too, though Squitter is more about offense there than his platforming).
no i love using Squitter, he's fun to use and i never had trouble with the platforms. They shake when theyre about to break and also if you place more than 3 the first one goes away, using that i dont remember having much trouble (except for the coin being based on your timing on the goal
As a competitive DKC enthusiast since day 1 in 1994 (DKC2 is my favorite game of all time on any console) this was a fun watch despite the fact that I would’ve ranked a lot of it differently but that the beauty of opinion. FYI web woods was the first time a video game made me put the controller down. I was in 3rd grade and ditched the game for months until I returned, and destroyed it. It in fact is one of my favorite levels now, because I enjoy the masochistically hard levels in the trilogy 😂 cheers
I loved the video. It was a very good experience to hear all your considerations about the levels, and even though there were some differences in preferences, I was able to understand why some levels were at the bottom of the list. It was also very, very interesting to hear all this from someone who loves the franchise as much as I do, I loved hearing all the notes, I was like: "Wow, that's right!" and I kept a huge smile on my face as I listened. I could spend hours debating the setting, the environment, music, the details in the levels, and I'm sure you would understand everything and point out things that I wouldn't have even noticed. The video was sensational, very humorous! Thank you for this magnificent experience. A big hug homie!!
What an insanely kind comment, thank you! Im glad that even with disagreements you still understood my opinions, which is something even I cant do. (Alot of web woods lovers in the comments idk why) Im glad you enjoyed it!
@@dripp_dropp Not for long there ain't 🔫 Real talk it was definitely a trend for A While in the DKC community to kind of disrespect DKC3's soundtrack on principle and as the only person in the world whose favourite one is DKC3 I gotta cut that shit where I see it. I'm enjoying this video a lot and we have a lot of the same opinions on DKC level design!
@@Electrosa tbh i think even the dkc 3 soundtrack haters liked rockface. The gba snow music kinda creeps me out though. Do you prefer the gba or snes soundtrack, for me its snes all the way
@@dripp_dropp I've never played the GBA versions, actually! I really should, I keep meaning to go grab them all on emulator sometime. So I prefer the SNES soundtrack by default x') It is a total banger though.
Can’t believe music madness is so low! Probably my favourite level in the entire game. Also you were so positive about it in the video! As I was going along with this video I made my own list using a program online and that one ended up being 3rd in the whole series.
I sat through all 4 hours of this and it was absolutely worth it I love this franchise and i appreciate that you took the time to appreciate every game and all of their amazing levels. I grew up on returns and it is underappreciated due to tropical freeze being an improvement in almost every way, so I'm happy someone showed how amazing its levels truly are. Sunset shore is also my favorite donkey kong level because of its atmosphere, music, vibes and all the other small details (lining up the banana, lining up the sun, the ants, etc). Great video, keep it up!
A fellow giga chad sunset shore enjoyer. Seriously though, its such an incredible level, IN THE FIRST WORLD OF THE FUCKING GAME. It being a secret level definitely adds to its charm, but would still be number 1 regardless. Returns catching stray bullets 24/7 always confused me because i never had any issue with it at all. The final world was a little mid but other than that its an incredible game. The bosses kinda suck too i guess. Glad you enjoyed all 4 hours 🫶
Awesome video. I've not finished watching it yet, but the effort and work you have put in this project really shows your love for the franchise. And long passionate videos like this one are the the ones I enjoy the most. Great work!!!
Me too, i love finding a solid 2-4 hour long video and just playing it in the background while i play video games or eat. Glad I could fill the role this time homie 🫶
Thanks brother, for most of the video i tried to give actual reasons of why stuff was placed were it was, but for poison pond I'm like man fuck this level. Easily the worst level in the series imo
That was a really well crafted video :D Found myself agreeing with a lot of placements but the one for Grassland Groove hurt my feelings.. Still, this made me want to replay every game yet again (it's also one of my absolute favorite series in gaming) When will we finally get a new game after 10 whole years :[ Would love to see more content on DKC if you have any more ideas to fit into a video! Because this was a good amount of food right for my painful DKC hunger. It was also pretty funny and sometimes I wondered just how long you're able to continue a single sentence lol.
I get more runtime in my sentences than daily exercise time, which is 0 by the way. And i am planning on doing a series on 2 fan made dkc games. One being dkc 2 lost levels and the other is called dkc the trilogy. Those videos wont be out for a while because not only am i waiting to get a new mic bc the old one broke, but also because i have other videos ready and planned. Probably march ish is when ill start that series. Ive beaten neither game so it will be interesting to play them. As for the dkc bosses i dont plan on making a separate video on them because most of them are mid as hell. Heres my top 5 though if you are interested: 5. Belcha 4. King K Rool 3. Skowl 2. Kaptain K rool 1. Bashmaster
Thanks brother! That bright future didn't age so well since my mic broke right after making this video 💀. You can kind of hear it breaking statically throughout some parts, i even mentioned it at the beginning
Just finished watching the whole thing, and I just wanna say great job making this! I haven’t played a decent amount of the DKC games, but this kept me captivated for the whole thing and it was cool to see your takes on all the levels. Thanks for making such a long yet enjoyable ranking video!
Thank you so much homie 🫶. That means alot to me. Id obviously recommend you play all of them, but i understand some situations can prevent that from happening. I will say though that uh, all footage was recorded on a computer alone. So if you have a computer these games are... available.
I'm glad to find another person who struggled to beat DKC2 without save states their first time playing, I absolutely abused that feature for the whole game. I enjoyed it so much more when I put in the effort to beat it "legit", and I enjoyed it a lot more, definitely one of my favourite games out there. Also, I commend you for making a 4 hour long video that kept me watching until the very end in one sitting!
yeah the first run of dkc 2 is brutal. Tbh i think its a super unbalanced game and is super overrated by the community. However once getting good enough to beat it without dying too much its a pretty fun time. Im glad i could keep your attention, 4 hours is a hella long time especially for a ranking video.
This video blew up, I was watching your zombies ranking videos and then I came across this. Donkey Kong Country is popular enough to make it your best performing video. But all your videos are good quality 👍🏼
Thank you so much homie 🫶. Most people would love having a video blow up but for me it just seems like a looming reminder that i probably wont have a video ever get that big again💀. Also the quality of the bo3 zombies video will be way better than the bo2 bc bo3 actually works 😂. Certified bo2 hater right here
Tbh I subscribed from the video title alone! But somehow you managed to make a 4 hour video consistently entertaining throughout the whole thing, I could not stop watching If I had one critique, I do wish you elaborated a bit more on your least favorite levels (I understand not elaborating on most entries the videos already long enough lmfao). For example, I don’t even remember poison pond so I have no idea why you think it’s so bad…so at least hearing why you hate the F tiers would’ve been interesting (especially because the levels you hate the most I didn’t even remember them lol). Maybe for another video 👀? Also sunset shore is one of those weird levels where it’s not going to be a majority of peoples favorite, yet if someone tells you it’s your favorite level you immediately understand why. I guess it doesn’t care if people think it’s the best because it knows it’s the best, it’s chill like that….
go replay poison pond, you'll remember. And yes the reason i didn't go into too much detail was because the video was already insanely long. Generally i figured my least liked levels were alot of peoples least liked levels as well. Like i've never heard anything good about black ice battle, poison pond, tyrant twin, 6k, etc. In glad you enjoyed the video regardless though. Sunset shore just has so much detail that makes me love it so much, all the secrets, the little ant hill, the lighthouse beam shining when it turns on screen, the pirate ships that will soon be played on next world, lining up the banana rock, standing on the pedestal making the sunshine, breaking the rock monster barrier at the end, the mimics that are only in that level (until tropical freeze), etc.
the moment I saw this video in my recommended I started beating my chest and making monkey noises, you have no idea how long I've waited for a video like this. Also, in the future could you make a ranking on the levels you missed like the extra world levels in DKC3 GBA and the special world levels in DKCR 3DS? A ranking on the bosses would be great too.
homie, you have no idea how long i waited for this video to watch. So i was like yk what fuck it if nobody else will do it I will. About the bosses: I dont really like a majority of them. Tbh dk has some pretty shit bosses but heres my top 5: 5: Blecha 4: King K Rool 3: Skowl 2: Captain K Rool 1. Bashmaster And as for the exclusive levels, i dont have anyway to get 3ds footage but i could make a video on pasifica. I have a couple other videos planned all the way to april so im gonna make those before i think about doing anything else first. Im planning on doing a series on the dkc 2 lost levels rom hack though if that fancy's your interest?
@@dripp_dropp shame you don't have a 3ds because the extra world levels are pretty neat, but I understand. It would be cool to see the pacifica levels ranked tho. Top 5 is pretty good, i have no idea what belcha is doing up there but I won't question it. Also the rom hack sounds cool, thx for replying!
@@ecstaticwooper368 i think belcha is by far the best first boss of the games, I think hes simple but very fun. In the gba he sucks ass but on snes you have to jump and time your throw. Him not doing any damage to you and just slowly but surly pushing you in your grave is terrifying. It reminds me of crocomire from super metroid too which automatically makes him goated
Great video mate! The DKC games have some of the finest platforming in gaming. The secret temple levels are absolute masterpieces. The sensation felt after beating Bopopolis can easily replace any drug.
Pretty entertaining video especially with the magnitude of the ranking, happy with the returns love such an underrated game because it’s not a widely accessible game, sooooo you gonna do a boss ranking? If not I would like to hear your thoughts on tiki tong
i wasnt gonna do one bc honestly alot of these bosses fucking suck. But idk i might. Tiki tong is really mid for me. The returns bosses are really mid for me and as a final boss he wasnt hard or interesting really at all. A cool start with the rocket section but that doesnt even really count
@@dripp_dropp I agree tiki tong is pretty mid but he’s overhated imo most of the people that hate him, hate him because they wanted k rool but in head and hands boss standard he’s the one that goes to my mind, in fact the tikis may be the worst of the antagonists but I still like them especially there hypnotic instrument theme The only boss in returns that is actually good is thugly it’s what the dkc rematches wanted to be, but the others suck especially the crabs, one of the worst bosses in the franchise by far Apologies for the rambling I love returns
@@superspun9944 bro did you watch the video? Rambling is appreciated around these parts 😅. Tbh i dont like any of the returns fights too much. Even thugly takes forever before you can actually hit him. Ill just do a quick top 5 bosses: 5. Belcha 4. King K Rool 3. Skowl 2. Captain K Rool 1. Bashmaster
Now this video was FYRE! My dude, I’m a long time on YT let me tell ya but I’ve never ever watched throughout a whole 3 almost 4 hour video. Donkey Kong is my jam so it didn’t felt like a long time at all. In fact, it was a breeze! Mad respect for ranking all of them levels but what the hell were you smoking man😂 You had me laughing so many times don’t get me wrong. Don’t agree with all of them obviously but how can I with 230+ levels combined. Had a real good time watching this. Damn, I could’ve finished some DKC games myself in the meantime. I probably should! Superfresh video man. Keep it up. Now we need a new DKC game ASAP!
A new dk game has to be in the works. They gave dk a whole kingdom in the new Mario movie. Im glad you enjoyed the super long video 🫶. And im not smoking anything I've been sober for 5 years 😅(i know it was a joke)
Super cool to see a long ass vid on my favorite series (at least the snes trilogy anyway, personally don't love the retro studios ones like most ppl do). Also that Die Rise mention caught me off guard and had me dying as a zombies player lmao. This honestly inspires me to do something similar for stuff I like. Great vid man
@@dripp_droppI'd def watch that. I'm very into zombies and map rankings are always interesting cause opinions vary a lot. My personal fav map is mob of the dead
@@night_tslowkey i think mob is overrated but it has my favorite wonder weapon. The custom box looks super cool too. Hells retriever is cool but having to do the 3 dogs every time sucks, and then they added it for the bows on DE 😦
i personally really like the first ramby level in dkcr BECAUSE you can rush through and feel impervious without it being too easy, and you can just jump at the right time so you dont have to wait at all. anyways great video! you're really funny❤❤❤
I see your point, but id rather just play any other rambi level in the game. The trees swaying like seesaws isn't really fun either. Its not a very memorable or special level other than having rambi, which is hidden underground anyways. Meaning you can completely miss him. Thank you for saying im funny 🫶
tbh i dont plan on making one since most of the bosses are mid asf. But heres my top 5: 5. Belcha 4. King K Rool 3. Skowl 2. Kaptain K Rool 1. Bashmaster
Bashmaster and Skowl are great bosses! I really enjoyed those ones. I did like the idea of Colonel Pluck and The Mole Train, but they’re too easy, but also repetitive. Colonel Pluck takes too long and phase 2 is way too easy. The Mole Train doesn’t have much challenge when you get the final phase, plus you can skip each phase by using the roll and Diddy’s jet pack. The 1st DK game’s bosses were just meh, though the final boss was the best of them.
That would be super cool, but I use an emulator to get footage for videos, and mapping motion controls to a regular controller sounds like aids. I could try it though, i really like that game
aye guess what homie, i got it working. Recorded the footage from world one. I still got some other videos i need to finish but that epic yarn ranking will be out around valentines.
if its worth anything, dkc 3 has the most free saves. Theres a save u can always go back to at the start of the game and you dont need coins to save or leave worlds. Id recommend beating 3 all the way first. Also thanks for liking the video 🫶
Best Video of yours. Ambitious and top tier. I believe there is a bright future for you on this platform if you continue with videos like this. You should ranked all of the donkey kong country bosses!! I think it get a lot of views.
Thank you. I think it would get some views too but in all honesty i hate most of the dk bosses. They are so mid and just not fun to play. Alot of them is sitting an waiting for a chance to attack. especially dkc 2. Its just not a video im interested in making
5:56 straight away and I'm already speechless...I unironically love Poison Pond, it's one of my favourite DKC1 levels and my favourite water level in the series! I feel personally attacked here lol, I honestly had no idea people hated this level. Damn you put many of my other favourite levels really low too: Ripsaw Rage is probably my second favourite DKC3 level after Lightning Lookout and I thoght most people felt similarly about it, do people really hate this level too? Bramble Blast, Poisonous Pipeline, and all the water levels in both DKC1 and 3 are among my favourites too.
ripsaw rage 2nd favorite? 😦. At least we agree on lightning lookout. And yeah poison pond is generally regarded as one of or the absolute worst level from dkc 1. the dkc 3 water levels are decent but the one with the fish following is especially frustrating sometimes
i probably wont. Most of the bosses are bad to mid. With only a couple being somewhat good. Heres my top 5 though: 5. Belcha 4: King K. Rool 3: Skowl 2. Kaptain K Rool 1. Bashmaster
thanks man, i think my subscribers deserve more videos first. I dont have wifi right now but when i do i got hella videos to drop. Im sure more subs will come in from those. Even if they don't im happy with what i got.
I imagine making a 4 hour video and getting 2k views is maybe not the most fun thing. I just wanna let you know that the effort deserves more appreciation, and that I appreciate it. Also, I'm your hundred-and-first subscriber, which I'm mentioning because I think that's a neat number :)
thank you so much for the kind words. But I was expecting to get 20 views max, and i would have been happy with them. This video was a major success in my eyes.
@@dripp_dropp hahaha nope it's not, i really love that it got really easy when i started learning all the steps by heart, it's kinda like a geometry dash level! and i love that game. i did notice you said you didnt like memory based levels in this kind of platformer, to each his own i guess because i really love em
This is really really cool. When I'm done I'll also check out the Pizza Tower vids you made. Also, it kinda stresses me out when you don't grab all the KONG letters every time
for half returns I actually had to go for them because on that save file i had only gotten up to 3k unlocked. For the older games getting kong is kind of worthless imo. And be prepared bc I def had some hot takes on pizza tower.
Idk why but the all the beach world levels in donkey kong returns especially the ones including the pirate ships where my favourite ones by far there just so cool to play through this video was the 2nd longest video I've ever watchedI was enganged the entire time this is amazing good job fr.
Its crazy you say that because its widely considered the worst world in the game by alot of people. Returns is my favorite dkc game and the beach world is such a fantastic world. I think it actually benefits from not having water stages, no surprise there. Im glad you enjoyed this video as much as you did 🫶.
@@dripp_dropp I have seen people shit on it a lot and although water worlds r usually my least favourite returns just makes it feel so badass listen it might be the pirate ships and I like pirate battles and spooky ship wrecks and stuff like that but it’s just so so cool to look at the scenery!
@@dripp_dropp I was so glad to see that was the final level ending on my fav world unless I’m a dumbass and that level isn’t in the beach world but I believe it is
I kinda wish the music was a bit louder with it being so quiet, I didn’t even realize there was music until halfway through the video lol. Not that it’s a big deal I was just surprised and am now making this comment as a result lol
i recorded sessions in bulk, and going from game to game had complications. I had to do alot of tweaks and it still sounded kind of off, so i preferred it to be too quiet other than too loud. Hope this makes sense
Interesting list… definitely quite different from what I have in mind for the best levels in the series. I would generally put many levels from DKC1 to the bottom of the list.
As a huge fan of the DKC series, damn I can't imagine just how much effort you put into this. I dunno if I'll actually be able to watch this whole thing but it is a pretty unique idea. I knew Poison Pond was gonna be the worst, lol. Couldn't agree more, its the only level I actively despise playing through every time I replay these games. I agree with a lot of your picks here honestly. Also really glad to see someone appreciates Floodlit Fish.
im glad you liked it. As a dkc 1 speedrunner poison pond isnt that bad with the secret enguarde and shortcuts, but this list was based off the normal routes. In a normal run through of all these levels, pp is easily the worst
@@dripp_dropp I can't say I'm quite good enough at the games to be a speedrunner (despite having beat them many times before) so its very possible I just missed out on some shortcuts in my playthroughs. Poison Pond just kinda sucks in general tbh, I always find myself slowing down to a crawl since I've never been able to memorize where exactly the speeding fish are.
My man...I do not understand the hate for Poison Pond at all but I can't believe you took the time to make this video. Just when I thought all of my heroes were dead. Absolutely killer.
here ill break down why poison pond is so bad. Think of every good level you like in any game ever. Now reverse everything good about it and make it terrible. congratulations you made poison pond 😅. No seriously tho its the fact that the slowest level has the fastest obstacles. You literally can not beat this level on your first 5 tries. You have to die. Especially the fish room at the end. Its just not designed well. Im glad you enjoyed the video though reguardless 🫶
It’s strange how we can both love a series so much yet have such different opinions. I love water levels and especially that of DKC1, I like these slow paced levels where you really just need to learn patience and to listen to the music and see the beautiful atmosphere
croctopus is definitely one if the best looking levels in the game. The other water levels look good too besides poison pond. I just feel like the first games water levels is a spam A button simulator.
@@dripp_dropp 😃 You’re welcome! Perhaps you could do a second video about the levels added in the ports of these games, as you mentioned in the beginning of the video.
Your explanations were entertaining lmao, but I don’t wanna spoil myself any further because I’ve never played a DK game. Is it worth starting with the original DKC1 or should I start with DKCR?
Definitely the first game. But don't force yourself to beat it if it's too hard. Dkc 1 can be super frustrating because you cant save whenever, but if your emulating it i would recommend save states. DKCR is a much easier game up to a point. You will get farther than the original but near the end of the game you might frustrated. Really I would just play them in order and stick to which ever one you like playing the most, because once you get around to beating one of them you can come back and beat the others. There really isn't any real reason to play them in a consistent order.
@@vacantile then don't get the collectibles. dkc 1 has no secret levels and dkc 2 and 3 have secret cheat codes to unlock secret levels without getting collectables. As for movement, I wouldn't say they control clunky but there is a big difference between the older games and the newer ones. I prefer newer movement because you can get some insane momentum, but the older games levels fit the movement quite well.
@@Djdjsosskdndk thanks that means alot. I really dont try to be funny at all its just how i am. I got multiple comments complain i was trying to hard to be edgy, so it makes me happy to hear someone appreciate me for me 🫶
Wow, amazing vid! If I had to choose my favorite level, it would definitely be bopopolis! That may be the level that has the greatest sense of flow of all time (as long as you play as only dk without any partners)
thank you 🫶. Bopopolis is super good! The flow is pretty immaculate. Plus its the first level of the game to have that banging music 🎶🎶. Whats your favorite level from the other 4 games?
Dkc1-stop and go station: Very creative concept, fast paced level, challenging but fair, and they also do a great job of making it absolutely terrifying. What I really like about the gimmick is most gimmick levels where you have a timer esque mechanic, if you don’t make it in time it just results in death, but here, even if you don’t make it to the stop/go barrel in time, you can still squeeze out of the situation if you’re skilled enough. Dkc2-haunted hall: cool atmosphere and the most creative mine cart level in the series. While yes the racing cart levels in 2 and the tropical freeze rail switching level do mix up the formula, I still feel like the basic idea of get to the end of the level while dodging obstacles is the same. But in haunted halls, you are basically making strategic risk/reward decisions on every jump, trying to decide whether to make more risky jumps to get the + time barrels or play it safe but risk running out of time. The fact they somehow added strategy into a mine cart level is genius!!! Dkc3-lightning lookout: same reasons you outlined in the video. Creative gimmick, very challenging but always fair, and I like how it’s terrifying because the lightning strikes so quick it feels random, but if you pay close attention it actually is well telegraphed. Dkcr: it’s a tie between boulder rolder and cliff top climb. Boulder rolder is more fun level design wise, as it’s very challenging, has an oddly similar feel to lightning lookout that being the boulders feeling somewhat random, but they do have a telegraph if you pay close attention, and it just builds an escalates on its concept so well. While clifftop climb isn’t as action packed or challenging, the atmosphere is just so good! It just does such a good job making you feel like you are genuinely going higher and higher, building that sense of utter terror. Yeah the jumps may not actually be too tough but they feel tough because one wrong jump and that’s a long way down….
clifftop climb has one of my favorite backdrops at the top of the level where you can see the boss lair with the shore horizon line. Ive played this game for fucking years and just noticed it when making this video. Stop and go station is easily one of the best dkc 1 levels. Haunted hall is amazing as well, though like i said in the video it is a little confusing on which route is the right way or the way to the bonus game. Lighting lookout is a fantastic challenging end game level. I also love how in boulder roller you can see the big roller stalking you throughout the level. Tbh boulder roller is the standout level from the cliffs world. I think each world has 1 level thats the big level. Sunset shore, stormy shore, Itty bitty biters, crowded cavern, muncher marathon, boulder roller, factory has a couple levels but id say music madness is probably the big one. and red red rising for volcano.
This video is so interesting to me as a DKC speedrunner. Some of the best levels in dkc speedrunning ended up low on the list. You should trying learning speedrun strats if you want a different perspective on levels you might dislike normally.
there was a couple levels i put higher because of some speed run strats, like forest frenzy. But i dont really find that to be an important enough to change my opinions on levels too much. I have to like a level already for the speerun strat to make me place it higher.
Woah, saw what 233 was and immediately didn't know if I could trust literally the rest of the video... The music, the vibe, color, riding on the back of a fish... it's literally dream fuel. Edit: only messin of course 😅 you put an absolute boatload of time into making this vid, i super respect it
if by dream fuel you mean absolutely nightmare fuel then i would have to agree 😅. Seriously tho thank you for putting bias aside and watching the video regardless. theres 233 of these damn levels its impossible we can agree on all of em
I feel like theres so much to talk about with DKC levels. So many of them have a unique identity, definitely one of my favorite things about the series besides the music and funny monkeys. I could spend a month brainstorming my own personal ranking, but my current favorite level is Wing Ding from DKCTF. Love the fast paced platforming, swapping between land and zipline, the setting of these owl observatories(?) high above the clouds, love the theme.
while not one of my favorites, thats respectable. Slamming through the window with the weighted vine, the music, the fact the whole world is scaling the mountain and now your finally at the top, and it plays so different and unique.
Well that was fun. It is amusing how predictable some stuff you suggest is, preferring faster levels, not liking ones where you can jump out of the vehicles. I hope there's a sixth game one day.
there will be, its just a matter of how long. I mean would they really animate a whole kong kingdom for the movie if they were planning on having anymore dk games? I just don't think that would make sense, then again Nintendo doesn't make sense
Liked and subbed. Also, from someone who is NUMBER 4 IN THE WORLD for dkcr Tippin Totems speedrun, (my only achievement in life so far), I was surprised by how relatively low it was, but at the same time I've grinded it so much that it just holds a place in my mind for that reason lol. Also did I mention I'm number 4 in the world for dkcr Tippin Totems speedrun?
you talk about tippen totems alot. I would guess you had a top 5 record for that level. Idk though just a guess. I didn't even think i rated it that low though tbh, one of my favorites from the forest world
thats kind of the vibe ive been going for, ive gotten a couple comments saying i need to change this and that and do this differently and that differently. I dont really give a damn about "optimizing my videos" that just sounds so soulless. Sucks to see the way youtube fell off. Im glad you enjoyed it 🫶
@@dripp_dropp yeah bro! glad to hear that. i think the "optimization" is for people who want to make a career out of it more than anything. in a way, youtube being monetized is what killed the sort of passion projects you used to see. now everything is super sanitized and the personality has been taken out of most videos on here, because its more like a job now. subscribed, keep doing ya thing ✌
@@hiddenmosaic imo i think being passionate about it its what will make it a better carreer choice in the long haul. I remember when dream popped off and thinking it was because he loved Minecraft and was a good player, only to find out he read books on how to optimize youtube and it worked. Idk whats more sad people buying and reading those books or people writing and selling them. But if it works it works i suppose, don't hate the player hate the game
Really enjoying the video and I think you have a lot of potential as a content creator. If I could give some constructive criticism the cursing is maybe a little excessive? I don’t mind some cursing but it’s a bit distracting hearing “fuck” used several times in 1 sentence in a video about Donkey Kong
Yeah I'm not gonna lie I definitely noticed it too. It's not something i did on purpose bc it's just how I talk but when i was editing the video I was like holy hell i said fuck a-lot. Tbh it's probably something that will never change though because thats just kinda how I am. Poison pond deserved it though at least 😅
this is such a hard question because the truth is idk. Even if i could pick 5 games i couldn't put them in order. Like for example i think tropical freeze is the best dk game easily no contest, but if i could only pick 1 dk game it would be dkc 1. I have a problem with new games taking over my opinions on old games. Idk if i like the re4 remake more or less. Idk if i like metroid dread more than super. When i play one i think its my favorite, but when i play the other i say the same thing. but here it goes ill try my best: 5 black ops 1 (would be black ops 3 if including custom zombies content no doubt) 4 a link to the past (if alttp got a links awakening remake treatment this has potentinal to be number 3) 3 resident evil 4 remake (because even though im not sure which of the base game is better, separate ways makes the remake better) 2. Super metroid (each location is more memorable and distinct, and super is hella fun to speedrun due to it being easily beatable within like 2 hours. hyper metroid, am2r, and dread all compete for this spot but i find each has annoying quirks that give super the slight edge.) 1. Dkc 1 (tropical freeze is the much better game but dkc1 is my most replayed game ever and i can always throw it on and speedrun it, or play it normally.)
Factual. Returns is my favorite dk game, hopefully it wasn't too obvious as i didn't want to have a bias. But they did put alot of damn good effort into them.
First few levels could have used a few more actual arguments, I don’t even know what’s so particularly bad about poison pond other than it being a decently hard water level I guess. And yes, I‘ve beat the game.
this gotta be a troll, poison pond is the worst level in any game ive ever played. Its ugly, its unfun, slow, unfair, uninteresting. This is common knowledge
After getting through the torture that is the last section of Elevator Antics, Poison Pond felt like a reward. I really don't get the hate, I found it pretty fun.
@@dripp_dropp See, now you've at least described it, that's a little more insightful. I guess if you're the type of player that wants to rush trough every level, which you seem to be, it goes against a lot of what you want out of a platformer. But for me, I don't mind playing a little slower and exploring for secrets, so Poison Pond is truly not much of an issue for me. It's basically just watch where the spikey thing swings and go inbetween at the right time.
@@geschnitztekiste4111i can enjoy a slower paced level too, but poison pond is just unfair. Theres alot of sections where an obstacle comes from off screen and you literatly cannot dodge it, you just have to remember its there. Especially the piranha room.
@@dripp_dropp Lmao yeah that would take forever. And no I won't be mad cuz I know better than most what it's like to have an unpopular opinion and getting shit for it, but wow stickerbush not even top 20?! I hope you'll give it an honorable mention at least haha!
Country series is so good. So good in fact, that I consider Tropical Freeze to be the blueprint on how to make a 2d platformer, it has more heart and soul than most other games.
im not going to because most of the bosses are mid / suck. if it means anything heres my top 5 5. Belcha 4. King K. rool 3. Skowl 2. Captain K Rool 1. Bashmastwr
Hey bro, great vid but just a tip since some of us mostly listen to youtube, you forgot to mention the name of a lot of the stages you covered. Makes it kind of hard to follow along without the video.
Obviously I'm not through the whole video yet, I've got 40 minutes remaining. Did you ever mention the levels exclusive to Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D?
at the beginning i mentioned that i was doing the original games. So no new levels from gba games or the 3ds games. They are good levels and additions to the games though.
in the old games or the newer ones? Bc in the old games they are pretty much worthless. But in returns i only had up to 3-k unlocked so i had to get most of them in the recording
@@dripp_dropp Both, I understand that there useless in the old games and that most people ignore them but I’ve always been the type of person that has to 100% a game in order to move on.
for all the homies that dont have time for a 4 hr video here you go:
top 100: 2:06:28
top 50: 2:56:05
top 25: 3:23:03
top 10: 3:38:37
Man i have been counting wrong my whole life. It gos 67, 68, NICE, 70. Great video!
The fact that the worst tropical freeze level is just ok just goes to show how amazing of a game it is
for real. Such a classic game
I mean i always hated that one where it like open world and you gotta find the keys to progress. I always die because of the changes to the swim controls. But the worst part is that there are no checkpoints.
@@susiehaltmann3342the level is super cool but it has a fee major flaws. I have it up decently high because having a dungeon crawler puzzle chamber in a dk game is insane, but it wasn't implemented nearly as well as it should have
I’d like but you have 69 likes so I can’t deminish that
@@Kingoftheelectricity5485 well you can now 😅
The fact that your 233th level, your most hated level of the series, is actualy one of my favorites, just tells us how much these games are great just in general.
"233th"
Someone just made a Black Hole
Every single time i see a long ass video made by a small youtuber i just know it's gonna be a banger. I genuinely love these types of videos + your personality just made this entire journey so satisfying to watch
Ps: I watched the 1st half of this vid before going to sleep and the other one after waking up, I couldn't do it in one sitting, but my comment made it sound like I did (but whatever who rlly cares lol)**
@@Spookyn.i care, everyones comments and thoughts matter to me. And i'm glad you liked it.
@@dripp_droppThat's so nice of you, thx :)
For real, such incredible games. Really appreciate the kind words brother!
Alright, you got me. I'm gonna replay the entire series
good shit. Its worth it going on a series marathon
Yes you are the only one that loves web woods.
Putting the coin on the end goal is pretty evil.
@@RodanguirusI do agree with the cloud mario levels, such a fantastic power up.
no i love using Squitter, he's fun to use and i never had trouble with the platforms.
It in fact is one of my favorite levels now, because I enjoy the masochistically hard levels in the trilogy 😂 cheers
i still cant enjoy web woods, but i really appreciate the detailed comment.
My guy respects Rockface Rumble, this video is now valid.
there are people who DONT?
@@dripp_dropp Not for long there ain't 🔫
Real talk it was definitely a trend for A While in the DKC community to kind of disrespect DKC3's soundtrack on principle and as the only person in the world whose favourite one is DKC3 I gotta cut that shit where I see it.
I didn't even think i placed it that low, but if its in your top 3 then anything would seem low 😅.
Good video!
It has the sort of vibe that only a small creator could give.
Thank you! I hope thats a good vibe 😅
@@dripp_dropp
It’s a great vibe
Juicy Jungle is absolutely goated.
For real, That world is phenomenal. And then frozen kong island after that? Undoubtedly the best dkc game
I sat through all 4 hours of this and it was absolutely worth it
I love this franchise and i appreciate that you took the time to appreciate every game and all of their amazing levels.
Okay. Send me a like if you watched all 4 hours of this video just to see what #1 is. 😂
before making this video, #1 spot was the only one i knew. I had to go in and grade every other level to know where to place it
Lol dude your intro to poison pond is iconic. Great video.
Thanks brother, for most of the video i tried to give actual reasons of why stuff was placed were it was, but for poison pond I'm like man fuck this level. Easily the worst level in the series imo
Returns was one of my fondest childhood games on the Wii. Visual style was so captivating
for real. I tried to not give returns a bias, but i think i still did slightly. Whoopsies
Same here. It’s in my top ten favorite games.
great video man, glad to give this video a watch appreciate the hard work that you put in i know this definitely took a while.
thanks brother, it definitely took a while to make. Tbh i worked super hard to get this out by Christmas, but the upload took a fucking week.
That was a really well crafted video :D
Found myself agreeing with a lot of placements but the one for Grassland Groove hurt my feelings..
Still, this made me want to replay every game yet again (it's also one of my absolute favorite series in gaming)
When will we finally get a new game after 10 whole years :[
Would love to see more content on DKC if you have any more ideas to fit into a video!
Heres my top 5 though if you are interested:
5. Belcha
4. King K Rool
3. Skowl
2. Kaptain K rool
1. Bashmaster
Rediculously high quality video, it's an easy sub for me. Please keep it up, you have a bright future around here!
Thanks brother! That bright future didn't age so well since my mic broke right after making this video 💀. You can kind of hear it breaking statically throughout some parts, i even mentioned it at the beginning
Great video ! Interesting takes on these levels and not an easy task. Hope to see more from you !
thank you so much!
Certified bo2 hater right here
Your channel is so underrated, it's just like a talking to a homie
Thanks man 🫶. I hate videos that obviously follow a script. TH-cam is supposed to be a fun hobby, not an optimized money maker
Tbh I subscribed from the video title alone! But somehow you managed to make a 4 hour video consistently entertaining throughout the whole thing, I could not stop watching
If I had one critique, I do wish you elaborated a bit more on your least favorite levels (I understand not elaborating on most entries the videos already long enough lmfao).
Sunset shore just has so much detail that makes me love it so much, all the secrets, the little ant hill, the lighthouse beam shining when it turns on screen, the pirate ships that will soon be played on next world, lining up the banana rock, standing on the pedestal making the sunshine, breaking the rock monster barrier at the end, the mimics that are only in that level (until tropical freeze), etc.

i cant even imagine how long this took what the fuck 💀
the moment I saw this video in my recommended I started beating my chest and making monkey noises, you have no idea how long I've waited for a video like this.
Tbh dk has some pretty shit bosses but heres my top 5:
5: Blecha
4: King K Rool
3: Skowl
2: Captain K Rool
1. Bashmaster
And as for the exclusive levels, i dont have anyway to get 3ds footage but i could make a video on pasifica.
For real. Love the k levels. Bopopolis is stupid hard but super rewarding
Omg.. I instantly subscribed as soon as i saw this.
awesome, hope you liked it
Loved the video! So happy to see amiss abyss in the top 100!
Hell yeah! Not only does it look beautiful, it uses the silhouette to its benefit by having a darkness light mechanic similar to the original trilogy
i appreciate this video and the time put into it. gladly watching this at work lol.
thanks homie, hopefully the first 30 minutes isnt too negative since ur already at work 😅
Pretty entertaining video especially with the magnitude of the ranking, happy with the returns love such an underrated game because it’s not a widely accessible game, sooooo you gonna do a boss ranking? If not I would like to hear your thoughts on tiki tong
i wasnt gonna do one bc honestly alot of these bosses fucking suck. But idk i might. Tiki tong is really mid for me. The returns bosses are really mid for me and as a final boss he wasnt hard or interesting really at all. A cool start with the rocket section but that doesnt even really count
@@dripp_dropp I agree tiki tong is pretty mid but he’s overhated imo most of the people that hate him, hate him because they wanted k rool but in head and hands boss standard he’s the one that goes to my mind, in fact the tikis may be the worst of the antagonists but I still like them especially there hypnotic instrument theme
The only boss in returns that is actually good is thugly it’s what the dkc rematches wanted to be, but the others suck especially the crabs, one of the worst bosses in the franchise by far
Apologies for the rambling I love returns
@@superspun9944 bro did you watch the video? Rambling is appreciated around these parts 😅. Tbh i dont like any of the returns fights too much. Even thugly takes forever before you can actually hit him. Ill just do a quick top 5 bosses:
5. Belcha
4. King K Rool
3. Skowl
2. Captain K Rool
1. Bashmaster
looooooooved watching the video man great work, super entertaining
hallelujah! I looooooooved this comment. Glad you enjoyed it
Now this video was FYRE!
Great vid man
I don't even remember mentioning die rise 💀. Im doing a series on ranking zombies maps if you're interested in that too.
You are insanely slept on and underrated. Keep doing what you're doing!
i don't plan on stopping anytime soon! It really makes me smile every time i read such a kind comment. Thank you homie!
i personally really like the first ramby level in dkcr BECAUSE you can rush through and feel impervious without it being too easy, and you can just jump at the right time so you dont have to wait at all. anyways great video! you're really funny❤❤❤
I see your point, but id rather just play any other rambi level in the game. The trees swaying like seesaws isn't really fun either. Its not a very memorable or special level other than having rambi, which is hidden underground anyways. Meaning you can completely miss him. Thank you for saying im funny 🫶
@@dripp_dropp yeah fair
I've only watched a few tidbits of this vid but I have to say you're a really funny dude. I'll have to watch the whole thing when I get the time
thank you! Im glad your enjoying it.
Watched this over 4 days and just wanted to say great work. Super entertaining, and who doesn’t love DKC??
its too hard for alot of people actually. makes me sad not everyone can love it as much as us dk fans
I enjoyed this video so much that I subscribed! I want to hear your thoughts on all the DK bosses in the future.
tbh i dont plan on making one since most of the bosses are mid asf. But heres my top 5:
5. Belcha
4. King K Rool
3. Skowl
2. Kaptain K Rool
Amazing video I’m glad someone is as passionate about this series as I am
of course 🫶. Probably one of nintendos best series period. Even the weird spin off games are great (diddy kong racing and jungle beat)
High quality content, my man
thanks rhino!
also, you shouting out Kirbys epic yarn makes me want to see a level ranking from that game
@dripp_dropp cool. Emulating it the only problem is fire truck levels.
Amazing video, you have inspired me to actually play the original trilogy, they are so hard!
if its worth anything, dkc 3 has the most free saves.
Way to channel Dunkey with your delivery leading up to the #1 level on the list
FINALLY SOMEONE NOTICED. I don't remember exactly which parts it was but i definitely had some dunkey sounding sections. Love that guy.
Watched the entire video at 2x speed and really enjoyed it! Would love to see a series boss ranking
i probably wont. Most of the bosses are bad to mid. With only a couple being somewhat good. Heres my top 5 though:
5. Belcha
4: King K. Rool
3: Skowl
2. Kaptain K Rool
1. Bashmaster
very swag video
you deserve more subs!!!!
thanks man, i think my subscribers deserve more videos first. I dont have wifi right now but when i do i got hella videos to drop. Im sure more subs will come in from those. Even if they don't im happy with what i got.
This is a really great video, you just earned another subscriber. Keep up the great content 👍
Thank you! I plan on it big time.

You could beat the game by the time the video is over 💀
@@dripp_dropp lmaooo i might try, i really like this game so far, 6-k is easily my favourite level hahahahhahaa
@@thebushmaster0544for the love of god please tell me this was a joke
@@Eclipse-1 its definitely a place i would want to visit. If only sunset shore was the secret level instead of that mid whale level..
@@dripp_dropp I was so glad to see that was the final level ending on my fav world unless I’m a dumbass and that level isn’t in the beach world but I believe it is
@@Eclipse-1 its not its in the jungle world. The final level of beach was the tidal waves coming from the background
I would generally put many levels from DKC1 to the bottom of the list.
idk for me its the most of its levels dont do anything wrong. They are just kinda mid - good range for me
As a huge fan of the DKC series, damn I can't imagine just how much effort you put into this.
@@dripp_dropp
I can't say I'm quite good enough at the games to be a speedrunner (despite having beat them many times before) so its very possible I just missed out on some shortcuts in my playthroughs. Poison Pond just kinda sucks in general tbh, I always find myself slowing down to a crawl since I've never been able to memorize where exactly the speeding fish are.
You know your donkey Kong games for sure you deserve my subscribe ❤

Absolute legend holy crap!!!
thanks man, you as well!
Appreciate the trip down memory lane!
and i appreciate the kind comment
Love this so good 😊
thanks homie
@@dripp_dropp yw bro
It’s strange how we can both love a series so much yet have such different opinions. I love water levels and especially that of DKC1, I like these slow paced levels where you really just need to learn patience and to listen to the music and see the beautiful atmosphere
croctopus is definitely one if the best looking levels in the game. The other water levels look good too besides poison pond. I just feel like the first games water levels is a spam A button simulator.
Though I had some disagreements with placements here and there, I'm glad there's one thing we agree on. Those silhouette levels are fucking tops
Yeah disagreements are bound to happen, its literally statistically impossible not to. But yes the silhouette levels are insane
Just finished it, funniest video ever, I was really surprised by that, and just the greatest video ever in general.
I really appreciate the kind words homie. Someone calling this the best video ever is so insane to me.
@@dripp_dropp 😃 You’re welcome! Perhaps you could do a second video about the levels added in the ports of these games, as you mentioned in the beginning of the video.
@@GraySheep1717unfortunately i have no way to get 3ds footage. I was thinking about doing a separate video on the new world in dkc 3 though
@@dripp_droppOh that sounds cool!
@@dripp_dropp The main thing I’m worried about from the older games is a clunky movement system and bullshit hidden collectables

They could've improved Poisonous Pipeline by making it an escort mission, too.
elaborate. Im interested to hear your idea
I didn't even think i rated it that low though tbh, one of my favorites from the forest world
Playing homecoming hijinx and passing by all the landmarks of return’s first world in the background is such a special experience
heavy agree. Especially as someone who has returns as their favorite of the 5
i like this style of content, it reminds me of older youtube content before corporations owned the site
thats kind of the vibe ive been going for, ive gotten a couple comments saying i need to change this and that and do this differently and that differently. Better thumbnails for more clicks more detailed listing information so a new viewer will stay attentive so on and so forth. But im a passionate fan making videos for other passionate fans.

Great video , btw what’s your top 5 games of all time? I like your taste in games
this is such a hard question because the truth is idk. When i play one i think its my favorite, but when i play the other i say the same thing. but here it goes ill try my best:
5 black ops 1 (would be black ops 3 if including custom zombies content no doubt)
4 a link to the past (if alttp got a links awakening remake treatment this has potentinal to be number 3)
3 resident evil 4 remake (because even though im not sure which of the base game is better, separate ways makes the remake better)
2. Super metroid (each location is more memorable and distinct, and super is hella fun to speedrun due to it being easily beatable within like 2 hours. hyper metroid, am2r, and dread all compete for this spot but i find each has annoying quirks that give super the slight edge.)
1. Dkc 1 (tropical freeze is the much better game but dkc1 is my most replayed game ever and i can always throw it on and speedrun it, or play it normally.)
This is an amazing video to sleep too lol
SHIT I MEAN “to” NOT “too”
aye thats alright, just don't worry about it two much
@@dripp_dropp Thank you lol
The fact that most of the higher rankings are from the newer games just goes to show how much care Retro Studios put into the series
Factual. Returns is my favorite dk game, hopefully it wasn't too obvious as i didn't want to have a bias. But they did put alot of damn good effort into them.
glad to say i watched through the entire video. i love donkey kong country
kind of hard not to love dkc when its the best series of all time. Hope you enjoyed the video 🫶
@@dripp_dropp fair enough
Nice video
thanks homie
I love this serie. It's so relaxing...
Some levels are hard as fuck, but usually it is very relaxing to play
The Sunset shore level has a gorgeous painting by Malmakes if any1 wants to check that out
i seem that a while ago, a very beautiful painting indeed
Will you do a ranking of the soundtracks too? Or at least a top 20 or something?
you know what. That would be pretty cool. Top 20 though, i cant rank another 230 tracks 💀
Just promise you wont be mad when stickerbrush isnt in the list
@@dripp_dropp Lmao yeah that would take forever. And no I won't be mad cuz I know better than most what it's like to have an unpopular opinion and getting shit for it, but wow stickerbush not even top 20?! I hope you'll give it an honorable mention at least haha!
@@questionablezoomer764frosty fruits in the honorable mention 💀
Country series is so good. So good in fact, that I consider Tropical Freeze to be the blueprint on how to make a 2d platformer, it has more heart and soul than most other games.
Very true. I just wish the bonus games had heart and soul too 😦
I would love for you to rank every dkc boss
im not going to because most of the bosses are mid / suck. if it means anything heres my top 5
5. Belcha
4. King K. rool
3. Skowl
2. Captain K Rool
1. Bashmastwr
Hey bro, great vid but just a tip since some of us mostly listen to youtube, you forgot to mention the name of a lot of the stages you covered.
Makes it kind of hard to follow along without the video.
sorry man, i tried my best to do that. Hope it wasn't to hard to figure which was which
Obviously I'm not through the whole video yet, I've got 40 minutes remaining. Did you ever mention the levels exclusive to Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D?
at the beginning i mentioned that i was doing the original games. So no new levels from gba games or the 3ds games. They are good levels and additions to the games though.
I must've forgotten lol. Long video and all.@@dripp_dropp
Ngl I find poison pond fun, even if it is one of the weaker levels in the series, I still find it fun. That just shows how great this series is
im glad someone can
Great video, but seeing you miss the KONG letters was painful lol
in the old games or the newer ones? Bc in the old games they are pretty much worthless. But in returns i only had up to 3-k unlocked so i had to get most of them in the recording
@@dripp_dropp Both, I understand that there useless in the old games and that most people ignore them but I’ve always been the type of person that has to 100% a game in order to move on.
