It's important that there's a way for youngsters and folk with a limited budget to have access to drones. This looks like a half decent starter that would give people stick time and allow them, inexpensively, to decide whether they want to continue. Nice clear, concise review - thank you.
Thanks, Mike! Yes, it is a pretty good drone for the price...especially the GPS feature. Not much below a DJI Mini 2 SE....but if you have strict budgets, it would be a reasonable choice.
Is it just me or is the frequency on those props/motors mosquito-like? Anyway, thorough review Don. My two cents, 279 isn't far from 429 for a mini2, a far superior platform that will always be useful as a backup once/if the beginner decides to stick with it and move up, or for risky flights like near moving water and what not.
Well, I've been studying blackfly buzzing lately... a lot ... and it's not that! LOL. Yes, it is a little bit mosquito like. I agree with your assessment...$150 more gets you a better drone...but for those on a really tight budget or not sure of their interest yet, it may be a good place to start.
@@DonJoyce First, Don thanks for your prompt reply. I contacted Loolinn and they are looking at it. Do you think flying on a typical residential road there would be too much interference? Could the buildings be blocking? Any advice is greatly appreciated. David
Pretty nice drone, but at $279, it's non starter. There are quite a few gps drones you can get even for less than $100 which are quite good (for example snaptain sp510 for $99). If you don't need gps or good camera, cheap drones like E88 or E99 drones can be had for $10 USD including shipping just for flying in the park and crashing without a worry.
Typical budget drone, but a couple of years ago those weighed more than 250 grams. Having flown two of those before finally spending money on a DJI Mini 2, I would not recommend it unless you're on a tight budget and really want to fly right away just for fun. Otherwise it might be a good idea to save towards a higher end product.
Totally agreed, Jorg. But for those on a tight budget or not certain about their amount of interest in the hobby, it might be a good product to start with. Toe in the water.
HEY Don well im surprise your promoting this cause you can buy similar on line for like 75 bucks CA witch i think its a great price but for almost 300 bucks CA your better off spending a couple bucks more and get the DJI Mini SE just saying
There is absolutely no question that the Mini SE is a much better drone, but it's a fair bit more money. For someone on a budget, this may be the only opportunity they have to try out the hobby. You can't get a gps-equipped drone for $75....if so, show me where.
@@DonJoyce but why spent 275 bucks your better off buying a 50,75,125 dollar drone if thats the case right anything more your just better off getting the DJI minis i say this cause i made that mistake bought similar drone and it was garbage in my opinion although i like the hobby then i got the mavic mini wow it was great well it was but since then i got the mini 2 and now the mini 3 pro im sure your well aware of that drone and pretty much the best of mini drones

Very nice review Don
Thanks, Clyde!
Great instructional video Don
Thanks, Barb!
Great review video!
Thanks!

Great video... I love the candid non-pad landing... Initialy I figured Don had it nailed... I know I wouldn’t have done any better!😁
Ha! Yeah, best I could do! I hope all is well, Bob!
Is the pairing a one and done or needed at each outing?
The pairing is done every time...but it's an easy 'up and down on the left stick'. Calibration is critical, but not required for every flight.
Awesome review, it looks like a perfect drone for someone wanting to get into drones.
Yes, it's a good price point for someone wanting to dip their toe in the water/sky!
Do you know if you have to pre-format the memory card before you use it? Or does the drone do it? 👍
I don't think this drone will format the card. Generally you don't need to.
@@DonJoyce appreciate the response.
does this drone have a gimbal on the main camera?
No
Footage doesn’t look bad for a budget drone
Yes, it's nice and clear...just not stabilized. But for a beginner, that may not matter.
Don, I have this drone and have not been able to get it to connect to gps. Any suggestions please?
Make sure it has a fairly clear view of the sky outdoors, and wait. Might take a minute.

Ok
Looks like an impressive sub-250 gm drone for that price. Would likely make an inexpensive starter drone for a novice flyer.
Yes, it is quite good and cheaper than DJI drones. That said, I had a few stumbles along the way (eg, calibration) that could frustrate a novice.

That's alot of tech for so little cash .
Agreed! A few glitches, but a pretty good starter for the price!
This drone is copy Loolinn Z6 Pro is copy of Syma Z6 Pro.
Oh no! But how can you tell the original from the clone?!
That's a $120 drone. Not $279. I know Amazon, you get is quicker and can send it back etc. Still.
Where can you buy it for $120?? Or are you just assessing its value as $120?
