As an American who has lived in Europe and the Middle East for the majority of my adult life, it IS crazy how often you are given opioids by American doctors. When I was stationed in Germany, I genuinely (mildly) hurt my back often... and every time the American doctors gave me Percocet, which was niiiiiiiice. When I got out of the military and moved to the Middle East for work, I was in a bad car accident and had broken ribs - which was more painful than any back sprain. The doctors gave me basically aspirin and a medicine for arthritis. Basically same when I broke my hand in Belgium. Again, opioids are AMAZING, and would love to do nothing other than be high all the time... it's dangerous and often unnecessary to prescribe. This was too much info that nobody will care to read.

That's cool I guess". *Pro tip: If you do mess yourself up badly enough to get a morphine pump fitted in hospital, don't keep pressing the button because you'll throw up. Give it a tap and wait for it to kick in then give it another if you're still in pain . Also, contrary to common belief you can't get physically hooked from short exposure to opiates (ie. a couple of doses to help you cope with the initial pain), if you were in hospital for a long stint and in enough pain to require a long course of opiates then that's where addictions tend to occur. People become dependant on pain medication and then end up on street drugs once the insurance/prescription cuts them off, while heroin might not be that different from hospital morphine the big risk is that you've got no idea how strong it is and miscalculating dosage can kill you quickly. 9/10 opiate overdoses are accidental, they weren't trying to get super high by taking a dangerous dose but instead took their normal amount from a new batch and it turned out that it was much, much stronger than normal grade.

Don't shave with a razor, that messes your skin up. Shave with a machine, idk what to call it in English, but just one of those good electric shavers does the trick for me. just leaves a tiny bit of stumble and your skin doesn't get fucked up.

I trim my crotch and armpit to keep them from looking messy, but shaving my armpits makes them smell really bad and shaving my crotch leaves bumps because my hair is so thick down there. I think guys can shave too. I think shaving for women as a fashion thing is because it makes them seem younger. Also, shaving your face is good for your skin. Its exfoliates it and manages to keep your face looking younger for longer. I manage to grow lots of zits under my beard, while I get none when I shave.

I agree that people should be able to look how they want, but the pressure can't go away without removing people's ability to prefer a certain look. A teacher in my high school got together with a student. I think she was 18 or 19 at the time and it was on a trip like the one Lydia explained. They had children and married later on, but the teacher was 15-20 years her senior. I think they're still together now about 10 years after it happened.

Consider the fact that literally every entity you have ever interacted with in your life was an outside source that altered your emotional and sensory state. A painting, a boating trip, a hug are all "drugs" in that sense. We naturally seek out new and fun experiences to make our lives better and I think if you draw a hard line against all drugs, it's usually not a "logical" choice but more of a complex put there by anxiety and childhood influences. There are tons of drugs which (minus extreme irresponsibility) are fun, harmless or even good for you (see the studies done on lsd/mushrooms by preeminent medical research institutes like John Hopkins) and many others that can be used without serious consequences. The problem is that people have no real education about drugs minus propaganda and there isn't quality control, harm reduction information, ect. for the "average" person to know wtf they are doing.

I used to be super self-conscious about my arms, especially since I never really saw a lot of other girls with hair as noticeable as mine. I used to say I didn't care, but I did, and would wear a jacket or sweater pretty much at all times in public, including outside in the hot summer sun. That always sucked, I shouldn't have done that, haha
I've since gotten over that self-consciousness about my arms and am okay without hiding my arms in public! No one seems to care anyways, which is nice! But if they do, well, there's not much I can do about that, I'm afraid they'll just have to deal with it, haha. I still like to do my arms every so often, but now it's for myself and not because I feel like I have to!
I still wear pants basically all the time though, cuz I still hate shaving and can't be bothered to do my legs that often, haha
Try using molten tree resin to wax your body hair then coat all of your surface area in talcum powder to prevent it from growing back... ever.. I also like to drink antifreeze to get rid of the hair follicles inside my body as well as outside.

I hate that we live in a society where people feel pressured to do anything. We have the right to look how we want to look, its our bodies and I hope one day we can move forward from making people feel ashamed to look a certain way.

Salaman Part of that pressure comes from what people are attracted to. I agree that people should be able to look how they want, but the pressure can't go away without removing people's ability to prefer a certain look.
The problems not the people giving pressure, just that people who want to look something out of the norm can't get over that pressure.
The problem's kind of with people wanting to do their own thing but also wanting to be beautiful (often stating it themselves) but the problem is that you really have to pick one.

When I broke my elbow I don't remember what pain killers they gave me, but I do remember for about a month or two after my operation I didn't believe that my life was real anymore. I think maybe the anaesthetic that I had during the operation kinda threw me off. Just, losing an entire part of my day/week made me feel like I was dreaming.

Consider the fact that literally every entity you have ever interacted with in your life was an outside source that altered your emotional and sensory state. A painting, a boating trip, a hug are all "drugs" in that sense. We naturally seek out new and fun experiences to make our lives better and I think if you draw a hard line against all drugs, it's usually not a "logical" choice but more of a complex put there by anxiety and childhood influences. There are tons of drugs which (minus extreme irresponsibility) are fun, harmless or even good for you (see the studies done on lsd/mushrooms by preeminent medical research institutes like John Hopkins) and many others that can be used without serious consequences. The problem is that people have no real education about drugs minus propaganda and there isn't quality control, harm reduction information, ect. for the "average" person to know wtf they are doing.
