    What a beautiful song and what a beautiful display that Catholics & Protestants can come together united in their common bond with Christ. We pray the Kyrie Eleison before mass because we are all sinners in need of Christ's mercy!

      Yeah, let's all forget the fact that catholics are idol worshipers..

    What I love about Matt Maher in worship together is the harmony.. really fill the song up and the killer piano bits. And about Redman is the songwriting which is super simple and reaches out to the people in just a single listen and easy for anyone to sing or play with a small Bible study group or in a church. Praise God for these humble people with a heart working for God's glory.

    I love the simplicity of this. And bringing something that is at the center of the Catholic Liturgy into contemporary worship. It's beautiful. I love that several of these songs on this new album were born from older hymns such as this.

    Beautiful. Reminds me of the power of the historical lyrics from Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. Words sung throughout the centuries.

    I just caught Matt Maher's rephrasing at 3:34 where he started to say "we" but changed it to "they." Saying "we" is so Catholic, because we see ourselves as part of the Church, even if we weren't born yet. Obviously, if we weren't born, we couldn't say those prayers in the physical presence of the first Christians...but we believe that Scripture tells us that wherever the Sacrifice of the Mass is offered, there is everyone who has ever participated in it in the past, present, and future....so we say "we." But we'll acquiesce to our brethren who see time as linear and substitute "they" out of humility. I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead all sinners to Christ Jesus to be perfectly unified to God the Father. May we be one.

    Love this! We pray the Kyrie at the beginning of every Mass to acknowledge that we are sinners and in need of God's mercy:) It is the only phrase in Greek used in the Latin-rite Catholic Church normally, so it's pretty cool! Also, when I go to the Maronite Church we sing it in Greek, which brings the total languages spoken during a Maronite liturgy to about 4 haha. Greek for the Kyrie Eleison....English and Arabic for the Bible readings and homily and some prayers and songs....Aramaic(The Language of Jesus!!!

    I sang and played in the church choir. Naturally, kyrie eleison was part of the mass music, and Mr. Mister's version would always come to mind. lol This is very nice. Sounds good.

    dear new song cafe, what is your criteria for choosing which songs to feature? I have noticed you tend to chose only white people. it would be great to see a more diverse demographic. Jesus came for all. not just British, Americans and Australians .

    This phrase is Latin, not Greek. Its has been part of the Traditional Catholic mass for centuries. It's not an old and ancient phrase. Still in use by thousands of true Catholics daily. So, no offense but you are late to the party. Welcome.

    • @BrothersOfRome
      @BrothersOfRome 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It is Greek, not Latin. They aren't saying it is a new phrase, they mention it as an old phrase redone. Matt (who is Catholic) even says it is apart of a Liturgy that is still being used.

    • @kimfleury
      @kimfleury 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, what +BrothersOf Rome said. To get even more technical, it's Ancient Greek and was incorporated into all the early churches -- Coptic, Orthodox, Maronite, etc. and so on. Like "Amen" and "Alleluia," it was adopted in all the languages where the Church became established.
