My bad, I know in my last update video I said I wouldn't miss any more Friday uploads but oh well... Also I've been planning something pretty cool which will help elevate the videos, and I can't wait to show you all soon!
Mine recently broke. But only on one side. I was looking all over for videos on how to fix this but since i couldnt find any, at the time, i just decided to mess with it one day. So I took out the metal clip and now it opens and closes like it never needed that crap in the first place but i'm sure once the other side breaks its going to fall off and i'll be back to this video lol
Nice fix! Mine came off while I was installing my new headunit, so I just decided to mount the microphone that came with it in the cubbyspace and leave it alone :P
Awesome video! I actually bought my Corolla 3 years ago and have been looking to get this fix also as mine didn't have the door either. Just purchased it and can't wait for it to arrive and I'll be installing it. I also have the same issue with the bottom door where it just opens up when shifting (LOL). Do they sell a kit to repair that also like just the springs? Thanks for the instructional videos, they are great.
Awesome, glad this video helped! I'm not totally sure if there's just springs for sale, I'll search around too since I do need them but I have my doubts that anyone's selling them. Might have to resort to finding something at the junkyard
Unfortunately, this is a common issue with this platform. I've been going to the junkyards trying to find one with a good door but all were missing. I did just look into Dorman products page and they have the center console hinge repair kit with just the brackets, screws, and the springs no door. So this might work, part number is 924-450. I may get it and see if this is it for the bottom door
I guarantee you still have the spring. Finding it is the problem! Think about it. When the plastic breaks, and the spring falls out, where's it going to go? It's in there somewhere! I found mine, and was able to sort of fix it with a bunch of glue. It's not quite right, but at least it stays closed.
I believe the issue there would be the spring that's supposed to be attached to that door, some people have fixed theirs with magnets or putting a bit of weight in it if you can't find a replacement spring
I still believe these cars are great first cars, but there’s plenty of other cars to choose from as well! I think reliability should be near the top of the list when choosing a first car which is why I think these Corollas would be great
On My Corolla The Plastic Piece Broke And The Plastic Piece Behind The Door Broke Off Half Way but My Hinges Are Still Good?.. I Checked At The Dealer for A Replacement And They Said I would Have To Replace the Whole thing, The Price They Quoted Me Was $ 250.00 I Said No Way!!
I'm glad you said no to the dealer fixing it, even that whole panel is absolutely not worth $250. The door in the kit I used might work since your hinges are still okay, I imagine the new door would work with the old hinges but I can't guarantee anything
Did you mean the hinges that hold the door on? I installed the left side one at 1:11 and it's the same on the right side, they should slide in just fine but minor trimming might be needed. Let me know if this answers your question or if I misunderstood what you asked, thanks!
Hi Will, I have a 2008 Corolla s, I changed the engine mounts and the suspension system as steering ends and my car feels vibration inside the vehicle and vibration is felt at the rudder , What do you recommend me?
Were your replacement engine mounts OEM or aftermarket? If aftermarket, it's possible that they're firmer than they should so it'll translate more vibration to the cabin. You may feel more vibration if the engine isn't firing completely, like with worn spark plugs or worn ignition coil packs. There's a lot of different things that can cause vibration so sorry if I'm not super helpful here, hopefully this gives you somewhere to start looking!
👍🏼 I’d recommend starting with just spark plugs, coil packs are not as likely to be the cause and they are a bit expensive especially if your current ones aren’t causing the issue

I recessed some magnets in the box and the door on both drawers...so they close well, and stay closed and don't feel like a piece of Tupperware...

my hinges never broke, it was actually my door itself, surprisingly.

My issue is the drawer underneath the one you’re fixing is loose, how would i fix this? It opens by itself when the car moves too much.

why didnt you show the part of installing the newbracket hinge? did you have to shorten the bracket mine is to tall to go into the area?

The engine mounts are from the aftermarket, I'm going to try to change the spark plugs and coil packs

The bottom door went bad in my Corolla. Is that fixable?
That should be fixable but I don't think there's a kit like there is for the top door. What went bad with it?

Quick fix, just fold up some paper and wedge it in there, so the friction keeps it closed.
