    Good day from Nova scotia. I discovered something while developing a site. I added a site search, and then added content, tested the search and it searched the entire content on the page. I began making and using resuseable blocks and the search would not include any results from the content in the reuseable blocks until I clicked on "Convert to regular blocks", and the search then included content in those blocks.
    Just thought I would pass that along if anyone is trying to do the same thing. I was actually watching your video to find the answer to that question and I went ahead and tried it.
    Enjoy and appreciate the free information.
    Thanks

    Once again you saved me soooooooooo much frustration in how to do this, or what plugin to add. I am in the process of switching back to Gutenberg with the 5.7 updates and this was the one item that I still needed. Thank you for once again sharing your knowledge with us. You are always so helpful!

    Thanks!!! I recently had to covert from Elementor to Gutenberg and was looking for a way to use the reusable blocks as a template--but was not finding how to change the reusable block content just on a single site. Thank you so much, you have saved me hours of frustration!!!

    WOW! Made me want to go and look at Gutenburgh seriously. 😉 So many people (like me) have chosen to ignore it so far and a lot just want to turn it off. Kind of funny, particularly in this group where we seem to love using page builders. Seems like WP has made a giant leap and finally caught up with the way we like to work.
    Thanks for this vid Adam!

      Yeah I think Guttenberg is pretty amazing. There are already tools out that enable you to make your own blocks. So where it is nearly impossible to create an Elementor module or a Beaver Builder module, now you can easily do it using Guttenberg.

    Thanks for the great info. One more thing that is missing. I'd love to see a link to the posts using the reusable block, much like there is for categories and tags. I'm talking about the number on the right side of the column that pulls up a filtered list of posts. It would be great to know where these blocks are being used. I posted on the wordpress.org forum with this request, but crickets...

    Reusable feature is pretty good, but one might face a few bugs. Personally I had a great experience working with Gutenberg's blocks, I can't believe how fast & efficient it is.

  • @mioracarabas
    @mioracarabas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So in short:
    The reusable blocks can be edited while IN the editor under the cogwheel.
    I just made a reusable block and found I couldn't edit it right away.
    So I just spend a bunch of time in the dashboard searching and finding nothing.
    But it's while editing and then searching around where you would never search for the option, that cogwheel on the right, to edit that damn block.
    So...yeah.
    That's all I was looking for.

  • @AKBnew
    @AKBnew 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also note, Reusable blocks can be used only in "new posts"... NOT in " existing posts" published before creating the reusable block ---- as of 13.08.2020

    Hey Adam, great video. I have been avoiding Gutenberg because it has gotten terrible reviews and I'm a bit old school, but I can see how it could be useful for this purpose. One question though. Would this or Elementor template widget/global widget/ use anywhere ability be better? I know the later can get very involved and that is good, but how elaborate can the Gutenberg blocks really get?

    Adam. One thing in Gutemburg that I haven't been able to get is changing the colour of individual text in a paragraph. I believe I may have to use some sort of CSS. Could you do a video on that?

      Not currently but the hope is that all page builders will be able to.

  • @kensleylewis
    @kensleylewis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work. But the Gutenburg team "still" needs to make this process easier for non-technical clients who want to manage their own pages. In point, have a global setting that allows reusable blocks to be optionally detached by default. It is a nightmare for a non-technical client to see all of their reusable blocks change at once, just because they forgot one more step to do.
